Can anyone give an opinion of how Danny Phillips is riding for Coventry? As we know, he had a serious injury last year & just wanted to find out how he rides in the NL. For us, he has the speed but does not seem to attack the 1st corner at the start or gets passed easily when others get close. Whether it's a confidence issue, I am not sure but having engines tuned by Ash-tech, they should be quick enough.

Scunthorpe Scorpions 2018
IronScorpion replied to IronScorpion's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
A much needed point, hard earned at Peterborough last night & looking at the league table we need to take all the points tonight at Berwick as there is a big gap to overcome. Losing 2 at home & the one at Redcar has hurt us & we cannot afford any more slip ups. I have evened the table up for teams to ride at least 6 at home & this is what I see Peterborough .................Meetings 12 Home 7 Points 29 Workington ....................Meetings 13 Home 6 Points 29 Lakeside .........................Meetings 11 Home 6 Points 25 Edinburgh .......................Meetings 12 Home 6 Points 20 Glasgow .........................Meetings 10 Home 6 Points 19 Scunthorpe ................... Meetings 10 Home 6 Points 13 This is not counting 2 teams that have decent home records & could come into the reckoning. -

Are you not a football stadium so there must be some shade to keep the sun off. With me never been there and with this warm weather, even up north, surely it is best to soak it Friday & then Saturday and cover it to keep the sun off. WHAT! ........... YOU HAVE GOT COVERS! .................SHAME NOT TO USE THEM, THEN! -

was that after meeting free practice? -
But Workington had the choice as he qualified in 2017 while riding for you but you are a Saturday night race night so that would mean he misses meeting because of the GP's....................................................................................oh! hang on. You have changed some of your race nights to Fridays so he would be ok for the GP just not practice....................................................Oh wait up again. The BSPA have allowed us to race on Fridays so we could have declared Cookie then had decent guests when he was missing ............................................ Oh wait up again. The BSPA have stopped us racing on a Friday as too many teams are now racing then (3 agreed at the AGM meaning 6 out of 11 teams would be racing) but now that has been stopped as other teams with injured riders need guest to cover. Jesus, what a sport. I just can't keep up.

Kyle is in a similar boat to Danny Phillips except Danny is coming back from injury. At no6, he is riding with better riders & against opponents 1 & 2 then 3 & 4 so his biggest point scoring opportunity is heat 2. -

Same at football matches. Fans are there for 90+ minutes including injury time but leave 2 minutes early to miss the build up of traffic. A lot can happen, & often does, in 2 minutes. -
Workington & other promotions are trying to push the issue into running meetings when their riders have hit a bit of form while we are still using multi guests & r/r. I said earlier when we agreed to the postponement at Workington on 19th May if other teams would play ball if the shoe was on the other foot.

Peterborough Panthers 2018
IronScorpion replied to Flappy's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I think GP riders are not or was not allowed to ride in the Championship (ex PL). The exception being if he qualified while riding in the Championship then he can sign for that club. It might be only at start of the season, though, as I have seen this question raised before. -

So what dates will be available towards the end of the season if you continue to be successful? If, for whatever reason, you suffer with rider availability, I am sure promotions will bow to your needs for the best guests possible if this occurs. -
Join the club in using guests On Sunday Worrall...................GUEST Nielsen..................GUEST or R/R Garrity ...................GUEST Allen Auty Phillips .................GUEST Manzares
-
Garrity was signed on a 28 day contract about 13th June so that should end today or tomorrow. Steve has had spins, as far as I know, after our meeting v Sheffield (29/6) & at Newcastle Sunday & last night so he should be close to 100% fit. Here's hoping he restarts how he started this year for all concerned.
-
Ok. we just heard that Newcastle was deffo off & Berwick might be as I have been up there before. A few of us said we would be going to Peterborough. Great news on Stevie as I was hoping he would be back for this weekend as we missed him in the 1st encounter at Newcastle. Just hope for our biggest loss (Nielsen) to have his cast off early & be ready for Glasgow.
-
From what I heard, Eric on Sunday, was that Newcastle, a traditional football city, have postpone the Sunday meeting. The Berwick meeting might be postponed, depending on the result of England on Wednesday. I would think that this has been agreed by both Berwick & Scunthorpe's promotions & not by the BSPA Police Enforcement Officer.

At the AGM it was said that Workington could not race on a Friday as 3 teams have chosen that day. They have now ridden 75% of matches on a Friday, Peterborough have sneaked in a few so now the use of guests for injured riders becomes an issue. The BSPA ask them to change a few meetings & all hell breaks loose.

Scorpions v Monarchs 8.7.18 6.30pm
IronScorpion replied to ScunnyDan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Same could be said about a few more teams that have visited the EWR this year & away as I don't think, with our main 7 starting the season, we would have lost at home to Peterborough & Lakeside & away at Redcar. All teams get injuries but it is hurting us & the fans cannot wait for our season to ignite. -
Scorpions v Monarchs 8.7.18 6.30pm
IronScorpion replied to ScunnyDan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
We looked strong at the start of the season with our declared 1-7 as we reached a team average of about 46. Now we are being found out & overworked, especially away but we have had decent guests this last week that have put a shift in. Hoping we can get a win before we fall further behind in the league before our main riders are back. Another hot day here in Scunny so track prep could be difficult again. It seemed to be over watered before the meeting on bends 3 & 4 which softened up & caught a few riders out last week & with Rob being in the box, the track wasn't graded 3 or 4 times during the meeting. Whether the riders want it like this, I don't know. Barring last week excitement of the KO Cup come back, the last few weeks has been poor racing (ftg). -

Didn't Stefan get a bit of grip & hit the fence. As he has stated, 9 times out of 10 he would have got up & walked away. -
SGB championship fours 1st July redcar
IronScorpion replied to SuperBear's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Who won the event (the fours) in 2017?????????? Where was it held in 2018?????????? -
Thank You. I have not clicked on that link for a while. Stupid me!
-
No new Green Sheets either. Last one was issued 22/6 so new issues from 1/7 unless you click on Premiership/Championship Averages which will give Rolling, 2018, Home & Away.

As has been posted on another thread on track prep, it is about getting water into the track early to soak in then keep it sprayed throughout the meeting. Graham did an awesome job on Thursday to grade & water to keep the dust down at Sheffield. He can only work with the tools that he has got & the time restraints.
