  1. by the way, there is another topic for the Scorpions for 2018
  2. Was Rob thinking that because of last weeks result we could cope with Kerr at no1. He is NOT a no1 & we need a no1 to replace a no 1 whether he has rode Newcastle well before or not. This IS THE problem though. What a rider scores previously is not what he can score for us. Look back to last year when Howarth was scoring for fun against us but when he guested for us we expected more. It is all about on the day & at the end of it we were beat. We have to shake ourselves down, regroup for this next week.
  3. Have you checked the weather forecast? Maybe ok now but race time, very dodgy! http://www.metcheck.com/WEATHER/now_and_next.asp?zipcode=newcastle&locationID=62684&lat=55&lon=-1.6&GL=MULT https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/forecast/map/gcybg0u3e#?zoom=9&lat=54.98&lon=-1.62&map=Rainfall&fcTime=1523754000
  4. The rain was expected to stop early morning then Rob & his crew were hoping to prepare the track early afternoon for the evenings racing. Rob also has a job to do at his garage. When the crew were at the track, they found out that it was a losing battle to prepare the track. http://scunthorpescorpions.co/?p=8351
  5. tut tut tut. you should know better with the high water table around Owlerton & Hillsborough that causes postponements. Plus, when the site was bought it was from a part of our steelworks & we intended to dig down far enough to make a "bowl" shape for raised viewing. Unfortunately, we hit hard rock & steel which was too costly to remove, hence our water level at the track being, relatively, high.
  6. Track too wet with no drying wind or decent temperature. As we have been, in the past, a promotion that likes to get meetings on, it is not the weather at race time that matters, it's the time before. The ground in our gardens is probably saturated which means heavy vehicles cannot get on the track to prepare it. We like to see a decent meeting with decent races & it has to be safe for the riders(visibility). With us having a shortened fixture programme this year, there should be plenty of dates for re-arranging. The amount of rain-offs in the Premiership might cause problems for them though.
  7. 18.10.3 This rule is in bold so is new this year. Any rider that is in a current 1-7 can guest in either league. If the rider does not have a MA in the league he will be guesting in, then the 1.3 conversion applies. His then average must be lower than the rider he is replacing. A rider may guest only once within an 8 day period unless he is replacing a home teams no1. Looking at the guests Rob has chosen, even though we performed very well last week, he does not want to give riders, in our league, any practice on our track. Pre season, I think it has been noted, that when we had a private practice on a Wednesday, Ipswich were also here. Sheffield, being here next week, is a perfect example of not using Howarth tonight.
  8. It is going to be R/R tomorrow & Lewis Kerr was booked for tonight at Redcar & Sunday at Newcastle. Next week, we have booked Lawson at Sheffield & TJ for the home leg against Sheffield.
  9. Overnight rain expected later but clearing early morning should give the track a natural watering then prepare the track later. Not much wind later on & temperature around 12C so wrap up.
  10. If it's on! A few was thinking of going up for this meeting but having checked Met Office radar, it does seem like it will be raining from early morning throughout the day.
  11. Bigger blow for Scunthorpe & for the 1st time in ages, we had a genuine no1. With the other team mates assembled, we were hoping for great things this year.
  12. Maybe it does look like a racing incident, maybe Stevie took the narrow line in to bend 1 thinking he was in front & maybe other things happened during the race forcing Stevie to reply on social media, like he did.
  13. On Peterboro news, it seems you bought Horton's assets(Coventry) to build up your asset base, then swapped Garrity for Palm-Toft. It, also, says that you are in line to sign some more.
  14. This is the Championship Shield, which is a mini league. T/S do not apply in KO Cup or 2 legged play offs
  15. A quick read of the rules, and this area is in bold so is new this year, is that you can use a guest rider from any league provided that rider is in a declared 1-7. The 1.3 conversion must be applied between the 2 leagues if he does not have an average for that league. This means, if available through visa or other racing commitments, we could, theoretically, use Kildemand at home & Kasprkak away. We just miss out on using R Lambert or M Fricke for home meeting by 0.01 & 0.02 respectively.
  16. OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! how many more knives have you got left for the rest of the season?
  17. Keep to the Sheffield threads as your boring us now with your $h..e.
  18. Regarding the tapes incident, JS was moving but did not touch the tapes. Reading in to what else has happened this year, only if you touch the tapes are you excluded. If you are not stationary at the tapes then the ref, as has been posted elsewhere, seems to hold the tapes longer. If they let them go then a few times it has been described as an unsatisfactory start. Even Rob questioned Margaret Vardy, the ref, from the on field mic. My judgement of the Stevie incident from bend 4 plus a friend who was on bend 1 was the racing was tight and, at first, Stevie had a go on the inside of bend 3 early on. He then moved to the outside line, and was taken wide on bends 3 & 4, where Stevie pulled along side down the home straight for JBA to take the wide line in to bend 1 and drifted wider, clipping Stevie & sending him to the fence. JBA then slowed down the back straight, as if knowing he made a mistake.
  19. Firstly, get well soon Stevie. Gutted for you, your family, Belle Vue & GB. Speedy recovery. Well done the Scorpions on their 1st outing. Rode well as individuals & as a team looking for each other. A score line I did not expect with track changes & limited practice for most of our riders during the 1st few months of the year. The crowd seemed very good & the win, performance & score should bring them all back plus get a few newbies & oldies back on board at the EWR. I was well surprised by our gating as Garrity & Auty are not renowned for this & I expressed my surprise at this to Josh in the clubhouse after the meeting. He said it was down to preparation, mentally & physically. Pleased for Stefan, too, as did not expect that performance after his shoulder injury last year, as we know it took a while for Howe & Jorgensen to get over similar injuries. Big shout to Jason, put his bike where it needed to be then his wins were never in doubt. We know Jake can do better & proved it in his last 2 rides. He seemed to be fiddling near his handlebars in his 1st race so not sure if his cut-out had come out. Our reserves gave a lot of effort but for less scores but they, both, will have better meetings. Not too sure the score line would have changed too much with Steve as we won heat 13 & got a 5-1 in 15.
  20. As has been stated, your no1 by MA starts at no1. 2 - 5 can be in any order. The change, this year, is that the no6 & no7 by MA can be in any order.
  21. At least both teams are trying to get it on early rather than hoping for a nice summer & race it in July!
  22. That's a few riders that are having Visa issues at the moment. It has been said elsewhere that C Holder has personal/visa issues, Ty Procter received the ok to ride Premiership but not Championship & Jordan Stewart had not received confirmation to ride. Whether this was for individual meetings or team meetings, I am not sure.
  23. Is Adam just using Godden's as I have seen a photo on Scott's twitter page of a PJR GM. Therefore, is Adam being the "guinea pig" for the testing & for finding out when servicing is required?
