Excellent issue read it cover to cover this morning After the VSRA though a certain Uncle now wants to borrow my copies (Yeah right...... Like I'm parting with my Speedway Star/Speedway Mail all rolled into one called Backtrack!!!!)

When I was chatting to someone recently they said that there had been talks about Great Yarmouth entertaining speedway but how true that is I don't know, it did come from a reliable source so maybe in the future who knows. I remember going there about 15 years ago and thinking then it would be a good place to have speedway and if it's had a facelift them even better

ohhhhhhhh derrrrrrrr at me never thought of that did you get them to hold their table number up for you
-
Blimey so it was you that stole the seating plan, I knew where Uncle Ted and I were

This really is going to be a long shot but does anyone have any photos of the riders on the tractor during parade from 1959/1960ish meetings, years are a bit of a stab in the dark can't name any riders that would of been there, just need a photo of them if possible for a friend please. As Norbold has written a book about Wembley recently am hoping he would have access to most of the tractor parades.

Before and during the meal yes, we in the bar thought he was in dancing, until Auntie came out and asked where he was, upon investigation he'd snuck off for a siesta

The above posting once I've read it back doesn't sound as I meant it to, looks very matter of fact but it's not supposed to come across that way. Another character I'd like to see there would be Kelvin Mullarkey, I know he attends the Norwich Lunch thought at some point he might venture to Coventry but not as yet.

Got a challenge for next year all sorted so will be back to normal. Paul Woods was there last year and is already a member. Dave Mullett been working on him for the past 9 months. Michael Lee was also there a couple of years ago. The other names I would of said they were 70's although a few careers ended in the 80's. Point of interest though Middlo was still riding in '85 as he won the NLRC at Coventry.

Girl after my own heart! Was shocked though whilst at the table I slipped another vodka into my glass and the ol' boy sat next to me said "nice one" and got his whisky out of his pocket. SS who would you want to see as Younger Members?

Think Steve is on about this question Liar liar pants on fire!!! you decided to stay at home with a bottle of wine

We had a civilised chat in the bar for about 10mins in between courses, must of been the only time you never had you camera on you (damn and I was soberish at that point )
-
He wanted his camera to survive not one of me anywhere I hope (not the most photogenic person in the world )
-
I text Kev and told him what table "I" was on not you or anyone else that was with me, knowing Kev like I do he's only asking Steve .......... ooooooooo get me on a higher table that Messrs Mauger and Briggs (and Mum and Dad )

What can I say.... Tabby got there first so she checked in (was arranged as we were sharing a room whoever was there first got the room and text the other the number to save time ) and got the tea ready for when I arrived (what a mate!) down to the bar for a swift Vodka(s) back up stairs shower and back downstairs for the night ahead. Excellent evening yet again and excellent company throughout. Table 6 (Get us!!!) Shazzybird and Tabby were a bit shocked at first to be so far up the order and when we saw who we were sat with we didn't have a clue who they were! Sat down to eat the meal and discovered that we were with the MIB, what good company they were, my god they have some stories to tell, especially "Ginger" Abigayle (Honey remember him?) and his mate Ken across the table telling the tales. Same old crew in the bar til the early hours but must admit at 3:35am I was beat the vodka got too much and I had to retire to my room. As I was sharing a room with Tabby (she makes lovely tea!) she set the alarm for "Silly O'Clock" anyway I was the first up dived out of my bed about 8am and declared how hungry I was, decided to open the curtains, I really hope no one was watching from any rooms opposite, not because of what I was wearing (thanks for the new jim jams ) but I couldn't open my eyes the sun was shining so bright it blinded me, was like someone had shone a spotlight right into my eyes!!!! made a change really as at 2am we were sat in the bar watching it snowing outside!!!, was seriously expecting to stay there another night, not that I would of complained the food was good and the staff this year were exceptional, even told us the bar was 24hrs woooooooooohoooooooooo Just the one little gripe (oh here she goes ) I had a conversation with someone in the bar last night and asked if they were enjoying themselves their reply was and I quote "it's ok but the age group is a bit to old" errrrrrrrrrrr hello it is the VETERANS!!!!!! apart from a couple of people (in fact I can only think of Steve Hone being from the 80's era) the rest are from the 70's back. I'm really not sure about their comment especially as they'd been before so knew what to expect! Nice to meet up with Norbold & Ken Burnett especially nice to meet John Chaplin. I now see Jason Crump in a different light, what a nice lad he is, incidently something that I did find amusing was whilst Jason was doing his after dinner speech a gentleman got up with his camera and took a photo of him, Jason paused and then said in surprise "Oh my god Ove Fundin has just taken my picture!!!" When I left the Hilton this morning, still slightly worse for wear, I thanked Vic White (as I do each year) for yet another wonderful and memorable night. I'm sure more of the evening will come back to me eventually over the next week or so and others will no doubt remind me of anything I said or done

Is it not on this year then? Damn just checked the tv listings, oh well Spanish Football is it then
-
That's the best time, whilst watching the GP
-

Cardiff Rooms Available
shazzybird replied to Star Lady's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Nice write up there and quite agree about the rooms, there is nothing worse than trying to get a room only to find everything booked solid since the last GP, then for one reason or another the rooms suddenly become vacant, a lot of the time is because people get greedy and book two or three rooms in the hope their friends "might" come along for the day/weekend only for them to decide against it. We paid £125.00 a night at the Holiday Inn one year (next year it was £150.00!!!)and I would happily pay that again, hotel right on the door step of the stadium, bar open til late, car park for the weekend and excellent company throughout. I don't get to as many meetings throughout the season as I'd like to for one reason or another my two breaks away from the kids are Cardiff and the VSRA which I enjoy to the maximum but if you have children with you Cardiff can be expensive (not that I'd know as that is MY weekend unless of course the little buggers say yes this year as the twins are 10 the day of Cardiff!! Little lad being a mad TRick fan and his last season he might just decide that could be his present for his birthday watching TRick possibly for the last time. WIll have to work some serious bribery out for this one!) My advice though is if you have never been to the "Cardiff Experience" get and do it before they stop it, it really is something quite special an atmosphere that is different to anything else I've ever experienced (except Wimbledon NLRC wayback of course that was always special for me ) for the last two years I've said "Nah not going this year Markies not riding or too expensive" but each time I've gone and loved it that little bit more than the time before and met more and more people it really is quite magical. -

Cardiff Rooms Available

I know there has only been a handful of people saying they've cancelled rooms and that they are not going but somehow I think the figures could be down this year for Cardiff.
