Cradley V Buxton Tpnl 3 July @ Monmore Wood
greyhoundp replied to Ommer Mon's topic in National League Speedway
Max was beaten once and Paddy four times.. beaten five times between them does a disservice to Max, lets show where the difference was. -
RIP Ila Teromaa, as people have said a really good rider in his Leicester days, when he signed for Cradley i was over the moon, but he never found the same form for Cradley that he showed for the Lions for whom he was a class rider.
-
Fined for telling it as it is , personally i wouldnt call them Monkeys i would say clueless.
-
I think its not solely down to who,s available, but who wants to ride there due to logistics, what is for sure is that the The Warriors need strengthening, i think thats apparent to everyone, after the last 2 meetings Im sure there averages are even lower. If they can strengthen up enough just to win home meetings that would be enough for now.

The Top Three pick themselves Gundersen, Nielsen, Olsen, Im biased i saw Eric ride for Cradley from when he was a raw 17 year old reserve to when his career was cruelly cut short with his life changing injuries received on that ill fated day in Bradford, Jan O we will never know how good he would have been again through career ending injuries, and Nikki P a different era so difficult to compare, Tommy Knudsen would be in some peoples Top 5 and justifiably so, I think all of them would more than hold there own against todays top riders, just take a line through Greg Hancock, this would prove my point.

Cradley V Kent Tpnl 19 June @ Monmore Wood

Not many i would have thought, Cradley fans are Cradley fans, not much interest in the British Final, now if there was a Cradley rider involved then it might be different. -
Numbers 8's / Unattached Rider Averages
greyhoundp replied to Sings4Speedway's topic in National League Speedway
Not to mention a certain Ben Woodhull, however the problem would be that were they to attain an average during a season, who would then be left to use as an unattached 3 pointer ?, i mean riders that would be of a reasonable league standard. -

Sad to see Darryl retire, but if his head wasnt in it now, then its for the best, Would Richard Hall & Lee Smart fit ?. -
Im only surprised no-one signed Richard Hall on his converted Championship average of 3.00, probably to late now he has signed for Peterboro i think i saw this week.

Isle Of Wight V Birmingham Tues 13th June
greyhoundp replied to Brummies_Ste's topic in National League Speedway
Without knowing what has gone on i have to say i feel for the IOW promotion, they have struggled all season to put there own 7 man Team out on Track, when finally the opportunity arises this Blows up, and they finish up with a 6 man Team, if ever there was a reason for "In the interests of British Speedway" its now, when we have a rider coming into a Team on a obviously to low average, obvious to everyone except the NL co-ordinator, then yet another experienced rider coming in on a lower average than when he last rode in the NL a few seasons ago, yet Harland Cook who last rode many seasons ago cant get a reduction at all, then something is obviously wrong, the NL as a whole, and the co-ordinator in particular have to accept some of the blame for the IOWs woes at the present time, i am told that they have spoken with around 50 riders to try and strengthen there Team but most are not interested for varying reasons in riding on the Island, but primarily i would guess its due to the geographical position. I really hope that the IOW promotion could negotiate some way with Wightlink to have weekend racing, otherwise i feel that the tremendous work done by the promotion, the amazing work done by volunteers on an almost weekly basis to promote Speedway on the Island will be in vain, good luck to you guys you certainly deserve some. -
Biggest And Most Important Bspa Meeting
greyhoundp replied to CookieIpswich's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
The Sport is going the same way that it has for the past 20 years, as the ever decreasing numbers through the gate testify, just look around you the next time that you go to a meeting whats the average age ?. Then you have concessions at Tracks have you noticed how much this has increased its almost not worth asking for a concession now, why because there are more concessions than full adult payers. Promoters dont have a clue how to stop this drop in numbers, I will just say this get the average age of the spectators down, then you are part way there. How do they do this is the question. I suggested some 1 lap dashes be included in the race format, but no one seemed interested, Im basing this on Crickets revival for quick limited overs Cricket, bring back the instant excitement and the crowds will come back. Get some razza mattaz into the presentation, some loud background music , i think some 1 lap dashes in the middle of a meeting would be worthwhile experimenting with, they would need to be quickfire in rapid succesion with riders waiting at the gate, so that as one races riders leave the track, the next four riders come out, probably four of these 1 lap dashes in the middle of a meeting, they have to be quickfire not 10 minutes between a race.. This could be trialled in the KO Cup, and half price admission given to Under 30,s on proof of age, we have to get them in the Stadium first. Yeah i know its Gimmicky but if its what the younger generation want then it has to be tried, we have gone so far down now, trying, and tweaking the old rules and regs, it cant get any worse than where we are now, its almost last one out turns out the lights. -
A 15 point maximum from the 7 point man, still wondering how this average was arrived at, a Blind man and his dog knew this average was way to low, I wont even begin to go into how the averages got low enough to fit him in..

Plymouth V Birmingham Fri 12th May
greyhoundp replied to Brummies_Ste's topic in National League Speedway
Brian i would be careful on this Topic your manager has made an art of using riding rider unavailability, Young Banks from a few years ago to mention just one, yes it is open to abuse but not by riders its by officials. -
A very interesting meeting this, if the Warriors reserves can pick up a few points, that could be the difference in deciding the meeting.

Birmingha V Kings Lynn Wed 10th May
greyhoundp replied to Brummies_Ste's topic in National League Speedway
Yes, but who did he actually beat ?. -
Well if its true, then its good for both Rider and team.
-
You like to think, he has already gone where i have heard
-
The problem Connor has if he does indeed live Exeter way, its not so much Eastbourne, its his Championship team Newcastle thats a heck of a drive for a home meeting every week, plus think on this, Exeter then drive to Eastbourne probably back to Exeter, then drive up to Newcastle, and then back to Exeter, with hardly anytime in between to sort out bike issues.
-
Im hearing but not been confirmed yet, that there is a change at the bottom end for the Warriors, this has been possible due the situation at Kent.
-
Naturally you know the figures Laurence it would be worrying if you didnt , good to see you are getting out and about around your local area, its what Speedway as a whole needs to be doing more of, just dont try having those running races during the interval for over 60,s may well need the paramedics if you do , mind could have done with them last week to warm some of us up. Like i say i want to see every Team succeed, and its not easy to get back supporters once they have been lost, and its good that you are making positive efforts in that direction. Good luck for the rest of 2017.
-
Its all well and good saying restructure, but who is available ?.
-
At times like this the result is secondary, i can only hope Danny gets well as soon as can be expected..
-
Yes there was some close racing, and like you say plenty of smiling faces to welcome us, mind you most of those smiles had disappeared by the end of the evening, due for the most part to a bitterly cold wind. No dust but i got covered in shale after the first race so beat a hasty retreat to another viewing point . I thought there was a good turnout of Heathens fans, i would like to thank the promotion for getting through the proceedings pretty quickly it wasnt a night to be hanging around. There were a fair few children their which is always nice to see, the problem speedway has is retaining the kids interest. On to the racing Cradley were never seriously threatened though their were some promising displays from the Plymouth boys. Stevie B is probably a little disappointed he couldnt stop Dan the man from getting his Max. Ben Wilson was a good guest for Tom P, Dan G seemed to be finding his best form, solid backing from Luke & Joe, probably Ryan and Connor were a little Disappointed with their points returns, but no lack of effort on there part, for Plymouth Steve B was doing his best to topple the Heathens Ht leaders, but wasnt making the starts, Benji obviously his injury isnt helping him, Smartie was solid if not spectacular, Young Henry A looks a fine prospect for the future, and is one to keep an eye on, probably the most important thing to come out of this meeting for Plymouth was that Richard Andrews seemed to be showing a return to form, he just needs to keep that Thumb from getting injured fr the rest of the season, i think The Devils have something to build on, on Track. That mascot you have doing some laps, dont know who he is or how old, but from what i saw he needs looking after, could be someone, along with Henry, that could keep Plymouth running for years to come. Off Track i think someone needs to be getting out and about around Plymouth with some promotion, i dont think Devonians have taken to the drop back to NL racing yet, i thought it looked like there were about 250 ish in numbers which taking away the Cradley fans ( again around 100 ish) meant their would only be about 150 Devils fans supporting them. It needs some IOW type promotions to be done, look outside of the normal avenues of promotion guys, dont rely on the old tried, and failed ideas.. Tesco community could be a way forward, and Lidl seem to be interested in promotions, possibly try bring a friend for a fiver or 2 for a Tenner on the less attractive nights, a fiver income is better than nowt.. . I know you read these Lorro im trying to be positive here, no criticisms meant to anything or anyone.. good luck to everyone down their, just stay positive and things will turn around..

So who will be signing Max Clegg, when his average drops ?, theres a real can of worms being opened up here.
