World Under 21 Qualifying Rounds
greyhoundp replied to MrMungo's topic in International World of Speedway
As the british Under 21 final was a BSPA event, and the big wigs were there and they provided the Start line girls, and the Fireworks, then i assume it is something to do with the BSPA. As a matter of interest Iris, the crowd on a poor night weather wise was around 1200/1500. -

World Under 21 Qualifying Rounds
greyhoundp replied to MrMungo's topic in International World of Speedway
it was sad to see some of the british Under 21 guys didnt appear in this, allegedly because there was NO financial backing from The BSPA, Joe Haines, Kyle Howarth, Jason Garrity all would have given a good showing in this, and just to be left with the guys who have most money or sponsors, is a sad indictment of British Speedway. Just a question for the BSPA where did the profits from the British Under 21 Final go ??? because i was at Monmore Green, and despite the weather there was definately a very healthy crowd, some of that money could have been used to help with transport costs at least. -
Rob Branford, HAS to be the choice, Blackbird isnt ready yet, Starke seems to have gone back, Webster guested for The Heathens up at Stoke, and won only one race, on that form he wouldnt be my pick, and was well beaten by Birks, Worrall and Perry, and they are the riders he would be comparable to. Rob Branford is still under 21, Buxton his home track wouldnt be unlike the SBA, he has gating ability, and is a trier unlike some, I suspect earlier in the season, he had problems with Bike set ups, which led to him being dropped by was it Redcar?. Lewis Blackbird; 23 years old 2011 NL average 7.01 Paul Starke; 21 years old NL Av 5.89 Tim Webster; 25 years old NL Av 8.43 Rob Branford 18 years old NL Av 8.54 Study them and make your choice, and in all honesty who appears the most likely prospect. To be totally honest, I cant really see why Gino is riding in the PL at the expense of a young brit, he is never going to get any better.

I wish that bloke by the name of Pearson would ring him up now, still think he would add strength right now, but i wont go into who he would replace, i got hammered for that one before.

21st, I am a big Daryll fan he has a natural style and ability, like you so far this season i think he has been dissapointing, when i have seen him this season only missed last nights meeting he seems to be struggling on the bike, and whichever bike he has ridden they seem way down on power, just hasnt got the speed which we all know he can show, and he really should be beating some of these riders he is being beaten by. For me we have 2 big plusses so far this season, they are Tom Perry who has turned his ability into points, and young Dan Greenwood, who having been out of the sport for 3 years has shown he can win races, and just needs to steady up a little away from home, and just remember its not sometimes about winning every race, but also about picking up the odd 2nd and 3rd place here and there. Overall a good start to the season and once Byron settles down and starts staying on the bike again, Daryll sorts those bikes out we should be more than a match for most teams.

Hiya 21st good to see ya back, i am not going to comment any further on this as i to wasnt there either, but i put my thoughts across on the Facebook page.

Oh well not much right with my individual score predictions, but a 47-42 overall score wasnt to far away. It seems for The Young Stars the reserves scored well paid 21 between them, Jake Knights form is in stark contrast to 12 months ago, For The Heathens Captain Royno led by example, well supported by Ash, Tom, with Dan and Daryll adding points at vital times.
-
good on yer em. I am not so confident, confident yes, but respectful and aware of The young Stars ability, yes Heathens are strong, but still not all firing, and anyone who can overtake Cam Heeps, can beat anyone in this League. Royno. 12 + 2 Tom. 11 + 1 Ash. 8 + 1 Byron. 5 + 2 JWW 4 + 2 Daryll 5 + 2 Dan 3 +1 That will give the Heathens a 48 point total, but i could see them all adding a point or 2 more than my prediction, as all of the Team have the ability to win races, or if one of the top 3 have a bad night, then it will be interesting. I have put my neck on the block anyone else care to do the same.

Thoughts on this one guys, i think it should, and i say should be an away win, i dont know to much about the young Kings Lynn side, but i think for them to have a chance of winning Adam Lowe needs to be riding for them. My one worry in this, the darned weather will it enable The Heathens to get their 2012 NL fixtures underway?. Just looked a how the Young Stars are likelyto line up. 1 James Cockle 2 Brendan Johnson 3 Lewis Kerr 4 Adam Lowe or R/R 5 Jake Knight 6 Tom Stokes 7 Scott Campos and to be fair that is a reasonable looking 1 to 7, and the Heathens will all need to be at their best to come away with something here, there should be some good racing, for the Young Stars they have a pretty solid looking 1 to 7, Brendan will have a point to prove, JC will be looking to regain a PL place, and for the Heathens Royno and Tommo have started the season very well, with Dan & Daryll expected to score their average, it will be down to Ash,Byron and JWW which way this meeting goes, after my earlier prediction on it being an away win, i would suggest on reflection, no more than a 6 point win either way.

Stoke V Scunthorpe (13th May, 5:30pm Start) Koc 2nd Leg

Yes, the Saints did better than i expected, and with a little bit of luck could easily have gone through to the next round. -
Stoke V Scunthorpe (13th May, 5:30pm Start) Koc 2nd Leg
greyhoundp replied to vog's topic in National League Speedway
Can realistically only see a Stoke win here, Ben Reade at reserve is the trump card for the Potters, and i think Stoke will cover Richies absence better than The Saints will cover Steves. I can also see Malcolm giving plenty of Track time to Rhys and Ross, if the opportunity arises. -
Rye Raiders V Buxton Hitmen Mon 7th May..approx 4pm
greyhoundp replied to waco's topic in National League Speedway
Okay let me just hi jack the thread a little, i am peed off people keep digging at Royno riding in the NL, 2 years ago he had another BAD injury and he was disgarded from the Workington Team, and struggled to recapture his form, last year he signed for The Heathens, only to get another injury <Broken Leg> and didnt really figure very much for us, this year he is elegible to ride NL, if we had not signed him i am sure another team would have, just because he is riding well enough to be in an EL team, what if he was still riding poorly, would people have commented then ??, Royno always stands down from the last heat if the match has already been decided, he is always geeing the youngsters up, giving them advice and tips, i am not a hypocrite, and have always advocated an older or experienced rider being in a Team, jeez hope Royno doesnt read that. Yes, no-one seems to pick up on the other EL/PL/NL rider Richie Worrall he and Royno both stand out in the NL and i look forward to there clashes together. -

Buxton Vs Dudley Nlkoc Sunday 6th May
greyhoundp replied to Killer Cat from Mars's topic in National League Speedway
James, let it drop mate, i tried to give you an explanation in my note above, why dont we have Hot Pork Sarnies at every home meeting at Monmore Wood ?, we can all nit pick, but as i said above we wont starve, and after all there are worse places to pack a picnic than Buxton. -
Well done to The Heathens on a tremendous all round team performance at home to buxton last night, they had built up a good first leg lead away at Buxton on sunday, and really Ommered home that advantage with a massive 60+ win, to partially make up for some defeats we have suffered at the hands of The hitmen over the past two seaons, included in the result were 2 maximum men, and a paid max from a 3rd rider. Fair play to Buxton, they never gave up, and were capably led by rob Branford, who received generous applause from the home fans when he won his Double points race, and saluted them with a wheelie down the home straight, and there was a tremendous 4 lap ding dong between the wily Deanno and Darryl ritchings, which darryl just edged on the line. You know we have received some deserved criticism at times from fans of other Teams, but generally we are a fair minded lot, even if we sometimes let our emotions run away with us , but hey we are passionate about our Speedway, and thats what Others dont realise, its more than a sport for us Black country folk, its a way of life. I dont know what the YOUNG riders think when they ride for The Heathens, but last night for example they did some after meeting interviews, and when they finished and walked around the dog track, they received tremendous applause from the fans, who had stayed behind, and there must have been 250/300 hundred who had stayed to listen. I have a feeling that providing ALL the riders can stay injury free, that this could be a BIG season for us here in Heathenland, because we still have a couple of riders not firing 100% and they almost admitted as such during there interviews, by suggesting they couldnt get there bike set ups right, and indeed changed to other bikes during the meeting.

Buxton Vs Dudley Nlkoc Sunday 6th May
greyhoundp replied to Killer Cat from Mars's topic in National League Speedway
Well i enjoyed the meeting, and as i have criticised the Track prep in the past, its only right and proper that i should say a well done and thanks for having a good strip to race on, which was the case on Sunday. It was also good to see Rob getting some speed back into his bike, which gave us some competitive racing, i feel maybe Buxton are one rider short of being a good Team, enjoyed my visit again, though maybe the result had something to do with it . Dont know about the food situation, but when it is done by outside caterers its always difficult to judge, for instance what happens if you get loads of food in and then get a rain off ?, guys lets be thankful, the weather is relenting a little, and we are getting some Speedway again, we wont starve if we are hungry for an hour or so longer . once again enjoyed the meeting on a unexpectedly MILD day up in them hills. -
Potters V Heathens - 2nd Leg Staffs Cup
greyhoundp replied to ChubbyChesgire's topic in National League Speedway
A fair result in the end, couple of E/fs cancelled each other out, couple of injuries JP for Stoke and BB for the Heathens, might have slightly favoured the Potters, but would have expected Royno to have scored slightly more than his guest Tim W, Richie Worrall only head above Tom Perry, but head and shoulders above the other riders, stating the obvious Ben Reade was the Stoke star, I think he has probably scored around 30 points over the 2 meetings, and whilst he is at reserve and Richie is in the form he is in, Stoke will be a match for anyone. For the Heathens; Tom was the main man, Tim did a decent job covering Royno, JWW scored his average, Byron showing glimpses of the BB we know, until he was involved in a NO fault accident, thought young Ben was maybe lucky not to have been excluded in that one, Ash was hot and cold, Darryl again looked down on power, and Dan scored against the weaker Stoke riders, without looking to trouble the others, but he is only a 3 pointer himself. I was dissapointed with the size of the Stoke crowd, around 500 maybe, i would guesstimate with at least 40% of those being Heathens, is that normal? Vog or have i been way out with my estimate. -
If thats true, then that leaves Chris Mills, yes i know he is riding for the brummies.but that is only short term, and he doesnt have a PL Team,Im sure he has an average that would fit, would distance be a problem ?.
-
Well a team should always go for the best available rider, Lee Smarts average has to put him in as the best available rider, if he is ready and willing, he will probably view this as his last chance to make a go of it in Speedway, it will put him in the shop window, and make Buxton stronger than having Tim in the Team, so this decision could be a win win for Lee Smart and Buxton, I know he has done one or two amateur meetings, so £10 a point would be viewed as better than nowt, which could perhaps be increased if there was a sponsorship deal that could be made available, he certainly would score well, especially with a few TRs lol, and lets be honest. theres a lot worse places to be driving to on a nice Sunday afternoon.
-
Having read Jayne,s comments on the situation,i will just say, they must be etremealy dissapointed with Tims decision, one thing that Buxton have in there favour is with the weather forcast i have just seen, they will have a week os so,to try and sort something out, the biggest problem that they probably have, is trying to fit someone in, within the averages available, and not having to let another rider go, to fit in ie re-declare, 3 riders Jon Armo armstrong, Chris Mills and Lee Smart.

hello Mr Vogster, any chance of being on if it remains dry all day ?? or is it like down here pretty wet underfoot, but it is brighter here than it has been for a few days.

I have a feeling you are probably right about this, same forecast from further down the M6, hope it all clears away before next Tuesday, I suppose we are still having a draught, or it the wrong rain, or it wont soak into the ground whatever.
