After my response to some negative comments, let me comment on the meeting, first all of the Heathens riders rode well, very impressed in particular by Tom Perry, Dan Greenwood, and Daryl Ritchings, Dan has shown recently he is coming to terms with his elevation to the main body of the Team, Daryl seems to have got some speed into his bikes, never doubted his ability, either one or both of these last two should have been in the nominated riders heat, Tom & Ash dont/didnt need the extra rides, and The Heathens didnt really need a 5-1 heat win, and it would have been a fine gesture by the management. For the Islanders Danny Warwick was competitive in most of his rides, but the rider who impressed me most was Paul Starke, fast from the gate, and rode good lines to hold back the Heathens who were all behind him at various times, and what a steal for 2013 on his current average , Oh and final word to Ashley Birks, another unbeaten guest appearance for the Table Toppers, thanks Ash.

Sorry mate, you might be right their, i am not sure what the rules are these days, as it seems Jake is inelegible for the NL, so not sure if he does or doesnt.
-
Holder & Anderson are at reserve now.
-
Which one is that Montie ?, think he has already scored more than the Italian Stallion.
-
Still think Jake Anderson, would be a very good signing for Stoke, i know he has Scottish ancestry, and I know he is riding for Plymouth, but his PL average doesnt exclude him from riding NL, and his away from Monmore Wood average really is very good, however it appears that because he rode in The Australian Championships he is no longer able to ride for an NL Team, despite holding a British passport, so does that mean Cameron Heeps will be inelegible if he rides in the Australian Championships over the Aussie season.?.

Dudley Heathens V Rye House 28.08.12 19:30
greyhoundp replied to 21st century heathen's topic in National League Speedway
It was an interesting meeting tonight, despite the scoreline; Luke Chessell,if only someone could take him to one side, and coach him to stay on his bike, He would easily become a 6/7+ rider in this league, I think he outgated everyone he rode against tonight including Royno, Young Connor Coles, has a nice style, just needs to sharpen up his gating, Ben Morley was competitive, Sarj possibly tried to hard to impress, but whats happened with Shane Hazelden ? came here last season as Rye No1, this year he has a 4.6ish average, and never looked competitive even before his fall. With regards the NL for 2013, lots of rumours flying around at the moment, not with regards Dudley, but will it exist in 2013 ? if so what format, I can see the stand alones being here in 2013, but the Scunnys, KL,s and RH,s must be in doubt, its my guess that due to the horrendous amount of call offs, lots of Teams have probably lost money this season, and will be looking to cut costs, hence the doubts about some existing Teams, there are rumours that PL Teams will have to include 2 NL riders at reserve, again this will input the NL teams, if this happens, i can see the NL points limit being cut again, as i dont see where the riders are coming from, to maintain the existing limit. In answer to would The Heathens contemplate a move up to the PL ?, i think most of the Fans would like to see this, as these Ommerings are all well and good, but as an entertainment spectacle there is a limit as to how much value they have, aside from that, at the moment the agreement we have with CVS, limits us to 16 NL meetings per season, and again there is no room for another Team in the PL. My personal opinion is we should have one more season in the NL, then revue it at the end of next season, as there could well be at long last some progress in finding our own Track . Also again i would be in favour of a change in raceday to Sunday afternoons, this would enable us to run a Team in the amateur league, and coach our own and maybe our Hosts youngsters. -
Some will disagree Vog, in fact i am one of them. remember The Fat Lady.

Should we now be considering The Heathens as the underdogs now that Mildenhall have won the pairs and 4,s so far this season ?. In my opinion we should say that we are, Yes we have won some silverware, but for me none of the serious stuff, those are the KO Cup and League Titles of which Mildenhall are holders of one of them from last year, so currently out of the BIG four of, Fours, Pairs, KO Cup and League Title, Mildenhall have won 3 albeit one from last year. So Heathens fans WE are The Official underdogs to win either the KO Cup and/or the League Title, some people have said that we are to strong for this League but the facts dont bear this out, indeed since we have been back we have not won either The League or KO Cup, and for me, those are the 2 pieces of Silverware that success is judged on. We will i am sure be going all out to stop Mildenhall from completing a clean sweep of Trophies, and i for one will be urging OUR Team on to this end. Ommer Um The Heathens.

Shadders, come along to Monmore Wood, tell us what you think about Centre green presenter "Porky" creates a great atmospere, on the couple of occasions he has been missing, things were really flat.
-
Vog, dont know if you have the ear of the management at Stoke, Jake Anderson back over here riding, he is a good Team man to have around, a good gater, and scores very well away from Monmore Wood, Malcolm could do a lot worse than sign him, i think his average is middle 7,s but 2 years ago the NL was stronger than now, so i believe he could up this average, and with you having important meetings coming up he could do a very good job for you, always a good rider to have in Heats 13 & 15, earned us some vital away wins, has an away average higher than his home average, could never fathom out Monmore 100%.
-
Yep Jack looked okay, but like i said unless their is an immediate need, then would stick with Terry-Daley.
-
Personally, i would stick with Terry-Daley not setting any trees on fire, but steady, and still only a youngster, see the benefits in 2013, but if a change HAS to be made, then Ross Walter would be worth a try.

Dont forget, Wolves FC at Home, so leave a little earlier if going through the Molineux area.

Hey, guys its only a Match, Tuesdays another day, and another chance, to right a perceived wrong. as someone else posted, with the build up to this meeting, things were bound to get a little heated, it really only needed some shall we say keen racing on Track to set it off. Anyway, well done to Mildenhall for their victory, and thanks for the efforts of the guys representing The Heathens today, it was a sad way to lose our unbeaten League record, but those are the rules, and we abide by them. -

Good luck to both Teams, hope The Heathens can get a point out of this, i would be over the moon with that, would have loved to have seen two full strength Teams battling it out on the Track. We all know the importance of what the outcome will help to achieve, it is who takes first pick in the play offs, as its our last away meeting We can afford to drop a point or two, we have already earned that. -
Which reminds me, how is Jamie Pickard doing ?.

Depends if Lewis is second in the Tigers averages, 1 above and all below can take his rides, where is Lewis Blackbird in the Tigers avs ?, and if Garrity cant take a RR, that leaves us 5 Heats where we wont have to face Garrity or Nielsen, and a chance to take a Heat advantage. -

Those people who think these two Teams are well balanced, really need to look at it realistically, how can any Team lose 30+ points, and still be competitive AWAY from Home, at home possibly, but away from Home no way. Guest rider Gary Irvine for Adam Roynon, Gazza is a good young rider, but is he A Roynon ? no i dont think so. RR for Ash Morris, Irvine to win, Byron to get 2 a point a piece for Daryl and Dan, so we are down again, and an unattached 3 pointer in place of Tom Perry, well usually they are unattached for a reason, so again we are down, in my assesment all in all we are around 14 points below strength. It was my honest opinion, that whoever used Garrity ar there Guest would win, I am still of that opinion, Nielsen will give very solid support so those two riders will take their own 4 rides, a RR ride, plus a Ht 15 ride each, that is 11 heats, and leaves only 4 Heats for the Heathens to win, sorry to say it, but i am a realist, Byron will hold his own, and give 110% as will our other three team members Dan, Daryl, and JWW, but do we have the Top end firepower except for Irvine, to beat The Fen Tigers on Sunday NO, Dan and Daryl both started the season at reserve, JWW is in fact now at reserve, so in my opinion i expect us to score somewhere between 35 and 40 points, but no more than that. -
I agree, done the hard work in the maln body, whilst on a 3point average, now he gets a chance to get a few points, his thanks are to get dropped.
-
I keep hearing about fixture backlogs, yet both mildenhall nor stoke had fixtures on their racedays this weekend, they are both involved in ko.league, and nt, very hard to understand, but i guess we will cram a few in at seasons end.
-
i am entitled to delete my comments should i feel they are not relevant, and so far off the mark that they are ridiculous., and to be honest, this fixture has lost its appeal now. Please sir, Gp has been smoking behind the shed..

Is there anyone who can lend us an helicopter ? Lol. or better still borrow something from the USAF nearby.

Statement on Mildenhalls web site says, start time has NEVER been discussed, so it will be the usual start time of 4-30, no further comment will be made at this stage. I am sorry to say, if that is the case then i will not be going to watch Two patched up teams, especially for such an important fixture, how can it be representative of The Heathens, when the top three riders in the averages are missing. I am sure i am not alone in this, as on paper it was such an attractive fixture. We can go there with Two choices, either the strongest possible Team ie No1 Guest for Royno, RR for Ash, and the best unattached 3 pointer around. or go with three unattached 3 pointers, however that would be unfair on the remaining riders ie, Byron,Daryl, JWW, and Daniel. I have a very good idea who we may be able to use, but not certain on it, backed up by RR for Ashley, so anyone can cover his rides, we just need a half decent Unattached 3 pointer. We will of course make the best of it as we always have done, and i really do hope we can come away with something, good luck guys, whoever you may be.
