  1. Good win for the Bears against a admittedly struggling Scunthorpe side. I try to ignore all the politics etc, I go to enjoy watching 4 men racing on a track. Granted, the racing is not as good as it was previously but has been much better the last year or so. Would happily pay my £16 every week to just watch Lasse Bjerre - the boy is awesome! Rode hard tonight and never knows when he is beaten, he was massively disappointed at the end to have dropped a point! Good to see Skidmore back on the pace , and Jan again had a good night at number 2. Special mention to the reserves though - only one last between them! Rafal looked much smoother and calmer tonight, whilst Ben was solid throughout. The boy can gate, which gives him a much better chance! For Scunthorpe, Josh Auty was excellent value, rode his socks off and probably deserved more. Wilko was always going to have a good night, and Pijper chipped in with some useful points. Have to say I expected more from the reserves. Lunna was exciting to watch but his gating let him down, and thought Perks might have been capable of a few more points. Still think a long season ahead for the Bears, but good to get a win on the board.
  2. Could be an interesting meeting tonight, with two teams who are struggling at this moment in time. A lot will depend on the reserves I think, especially how well Perks and Lunna go. If they take to the Media Prima Arena then they could be in for a decent night. The last coupel of visits from Scunny Douglas and Jorgensen were the real standouts in my opinion so they will be a miss. Howe has had hit and miss meetings but Auty certainyl knwos the quick way round here. Lasse Bjerre has been the real standout for us this season, and expect him to hit another good score. Jan rode superbly last week, whilst a week of rest for Matej should hopefully see him fully fit and raring to go. Need Hugh to get going which I am sure he will at some point, and hopefully Morley has a bit better luck this week! Could go either way. Hoping for that first win of the season, but hoping to at least see an entertaining meeting and no injuries!
  3. announced some names last night for Redcar side: Rob Branford Danny Phillips Rob shuttleworth Jade Mudgway Stefan Farnaby Don't think any others were announced, although would be surprised if Ben Basford is not in the side as well.
  4. Time to give up predicting I think! Reserves were the key really, 3 points from the Bears compared to 9 for the Diamonds. Worrying times at the moment, although there were flashes of promise. Graversen had a good meeting and rode hard, whilst Bjerre is a joy to watch. Will enjoy watching him this season if nothing else. Felt a bit for Morley tonight, seemed unlucky to be excluded when all 4 back might have been the right call although my view was not perfect. Rafal gave a few points away as well, we just seemed to be riding all the wrong lines all night. Fair play to the Diamonds though, looked solid without anyone really looking outstanding.
  5. Should be pretty close this - top 5 look pretty evenly matched and with Rose out so do the reserves. Agree with above, i think whichever set of reserves gets going tonight could be vital. Sad that Robbo will miss this meeting, although with everyone being able to take a r/r ride we should still do ok there. I think alot depends on which Lindgren and Henry turn up - both have had very good meetings here in the past. I'll go for a Bears win but only just (although I said that for Workington meeting!)
  6. I thought it was just me! Football, i could not really care how well the team plays as long as they win (especially now we are so close to promotion!) Speedway though, I don't mind losing if I have been entertained and seen a good meeting.
  7. As fas I am aware, Luke Crang is guesting for us on Friday so I assume Morley is riding for Kent?
  8. Well could not have got that post any more wrong! Firstly, hope Robbo is ok. Seemed to take a hell of an impact. I know it was only a challenge, but a worrying start. Fair to play to Worky, they started the meeting on fire and never let up. Bach is always good value round here but impressed with Wells and thought Barrett had a good meeting too. Our tail looked very very long. Graversen and Skidmore both very poor, which then put the pressure on the reserves to score points. Konopka looked improved on last year, but Morley looked slow. Way too early to write anybody off just yet, but can't have too many more meetings like that. On the positive side, both Bjerre and Kus did look good. Bjerre especially looked quick and was trying every possible line to pass people. With a fit Robbo should be a decent top 3.
  9. Should be an interesting meeting - although as others have said it will be freezing! Teams look quite evenly matched for me - decent top ends with perhaps slightly weaker tails. Whichever set of reserves has the best night may decide t he meeting. Reasonably optimistic of a Bears win in this, but it will be close. Main thing for me is some track time, and all riders to get through the meeting safely.
  10. Pretty much the best left out there if we were going down the British 3 pointer route, so happy enough. Does leave us a little bit weak in the tail, with pressure on Rafal at reserve and Jan in the main body. Still, speedway isn't raced on paper so roll on the first meeting!
  11. I think around 4.6? Not too much out there really. Hall was the big candidate to improve his average for us this year as well so disappointing.
  12. With 3 riders left who do we think will fill the remaining places. I suspect Konopka will be a shoe in at reserve on a 3. Would like to see Proctor in but amazed if he does not go back to Sheffield. With a 3 point reserve would give us 12.16 for the remaining 2. Pepe Franc has always shown a liking for the STMP but not sure he would come over/what his other commitments are.
  13. Lasse Bjerre confirmed as number 1 on a 8.65 average.
  14. Stuart Robson also announced as a Bear.
  15. Skidmore confirmed as back for next year.
  16. I think Rob really struggled with his machinery at times, and then due to not scoring what he would have wanted was unable to re-invest. He always gave 100% though and clearly had something about him. Would defintely be tempted to give him another shot if he would come back. In terms of Worrall, cant ever see that happening
  17. Would anyone take Rob Branford back? Seems to have been doing ok in Oz, and on good equipment could do a good job at reserve.
  18. Agreed, have always liked TJ and he seems to go well round our place. Wonder whether we would ever go back to Proctor? Or maybe even Roynon?
  19. Another one to strike off my Redcar wishlist! Always entertains at the STMP, great signing for you guys
  20. I would definitely take him, seems to always go well round the STMP and has guested a few times for us. Not sure if he is on our radar or not, but would hope he is!
  21. To be fair he was fine at reserve for us and scored some big points. It was when he went into the main body he struggled a bit. I take your point though - will most likely not improve his average by too much.
  22. Well, Graversen the first rider to be confirmed coming back. Although looks like it will be a very different team to last year. Comes in on a 4.14 average so hopefully be starting at reserve again. Scored well at the start of the season, struggled in the middle but finished off quite strongly so should hopefulyl be a good reserve again. As for the rest of the side, no idea who it will be now. Looking like no Lawson/summers/Smith who were all high on my list to sign.
  23. From what I have heard, sounds like it will be a very exciting season for Glasgow..
  24. Been quiet on here so with there being a social night at the STMP tonight, thought I would give this a bump! Still no clue as to how we will line up this season. Would like to keep Lawson if his EL commitments could let that happen without missing too many meetings. Would like to keep Summers and Skidmore as well. Would be good to see Kozza Smith this season as he is an entertainer, and I think his loss really affected our side this season. As for the rest, who knows? Would be surprised if Wilko did not head to Peterborough with his sponsor. Graversen started and ended the year well, and I would tempted to include him again if he would start at reserve. Hopefully after tonight we will have a few more clues!
  25. Same at Redcar as well - second halves always have a decent number of people staying back as well. I do think the next step is a Northern NL side though - whether coming from standalone PL sides or some clubs joining together.
