Preview For The Swedish 2009 Season.
Anders replied to Ghostwalker's topic in International World of Speedway
That's two gigantic losses for Solkatterna, and I must admit I feel sorry for Anders (Berglund) as he has done a lot for Solkatterna, only to lose two good home-grown riders. Oh, what a talent that boy is! An incredible all-action rider with a fantastic style, and only while in his third year in the sport. Always a treat to watch hime ride! -
Well, we'll see what happens then.
-
Really? Any inside information? Jensen Open should have been held on September 28th but was cancelled/postponed due to a lack of participants. Has it been re-instated?
-
No, but Vetlanda also host an open meeting on Saturday the 18th, same day as Målilla.
-
Yeah, I guess. Don't have any facts to back it up, but my feelings are that Swedish tracks are wider than the British ones, in general, so perhaps the riders mentioned feels a bit more comfortable building up speed and challenging for position. Eh, what do I know...
-
My thoughts exactly! Haven't read that about Nicolai but what a ride he produced in heat 12 of the Vetlanda meeting as he fought like an animal before finally being able to pass Peter Ljung. I first saw Nicolai in Tony Rickardsson's Final Lap meeting in Poole and was very impressed and have never seen him as a gate only rider. Kenneth Bjerre, well, I've seen him making some of the most memorable passes ever for as long as I've been watching speedway and I can't understand which Bjerre turns up in Britain to deserve a "gating tart" label. Same with Lee Richardson who chased Peter Karlsson for almost four laps before diving under him on bend three of the final lap in the Målilla semifinal. Must also mention a blast-around against Scott Nicholls in Eskilstuna a few years back, so he can definitely pass. Calling him "sicknote" or "gating tart" makes me furious, for as long as he has been with Elit Vetlanda, he's been a top class performer throughout the years. The 2008 season has probably been one of his best ever, so hands off! I wonder what British speedway are doing to the riders... No problems, we'll need all the extra Elit Vetlanda supporters we can get for the return leg in Gislaved.
-
Can I just say one thing... OH......MY......GOD! My legs are still shaking... Go Elit Vetlanda!
-
Yes, I guess. Sorry if you took it that way, didn't mean it personally. I'm just so fed up with all the rubbish the Vetlanda track gets in general (among them; public forums), and everywhere I go as a representative of the club, I get it stuffed down my throat about "the poor Vetlanda track". I'M FED UP! If it's so God damn horrible, why don't people stay home or turn the TV off!?
-
You think!? No wonder you missed the passes if you just saw the start. There were just as many passes in Vetlanda yesterday as in Motala last week, or in Kumla in last week's TV-meeting after what I've heard from friends of mine. I can't understand why people who always slags off the Vetlanda track continue to moan about it, if they think it's "always" boring speedway in Vetlanda, why the h*ll do they still turn on the TV everytime it's from Vetlanda, or why do they still visit the track if it's "always" boring!?!? Personally, I have decided to stop going to a couple of tracks from now on unless I "have" to, because I've never/rarely seen a good meeting on these tracks, but I have no need to constantly bitch and moan about it on public forums.

Nah, not really. Not may passes being made, strung out heats generally. But as Lee Richardson deserves a special mention, I'll give it to him. -

Robin Aspegren 1-0 = 1 (2) For Piraterna, Walasek seemed to have machine problems most of the night. Changed his bike several times just before the heats, without success. Nermark ran into Holta in his first one and should feel lucky not to be excluded, but since Holta managed to stay on, nothing happened. Eventually turned out to be man of the match. Kosciecha, well, his score actually says it all. Balinski was OK, but nothing more. Sullivan faded towards the end. Sundström scored a maximum, his second one was good as he beat Dryml. Max started like a train but ran out of steam. For Elit Vetlanda, Holta scored three 5-1's and three 1-5's. OK, nothing more. Zabik blew hot and cold, found the perfect set-up too late (in heat 15). Richardson provided excellent back-up to Crump and also recorded two maximums with the Aussie in the later stages. Excellent work. Jonasson probably should have rested after being hit by a virus bug during the weekend. He wasn't anything like his normal self, slow from the gate and on the track. He's excused this time. Crump was very good, as usual. Dryml lead his first before locking-up and never got going, hasn't done a perfect Motala meeting to my memory. Aspegren put himself in scoring position but couldn't hold on. Man of the match: Daniel Nermark *-*-* Links to the heat details have been provided by Ghostwalker in the Swedish Play Off thread. -
Swedish Elitserien Quarterfinal 1

1. DOH! 2. Perhaps I should -
Edited for topic title SWEDISH ELITSERIEN QUARTERFINAL 1 Tuesday September 9th 2008 DACKARNA - ROSPIGGARNA at G&B Arena, Målilla Dackarna are at full strength but they've scratched Lukas Dryml for Polish junior Grzegorz Zengota who scored well in his debut last week. Bit of a surprise anyway as Dryml has been hot at home, but I guess Zengota deserves to continue, and get a meeting at home as well. Good choice for the future. Bigger problems for Rospiggarna who are missing five riders (Shields, A Messing, J Messing, Sczepaniak and Tomicek) due to injuries and Slabon due to illness. Tough luck for them as they'll have too much of a tail tonight... Dackarna (home) 1. Fredrik Lindgren 2. Peter Karlsson 3. Hans Andersen 4. Grzegorz Zengota 5. Andreas Jonsson 6. Ludvig Lindgren 7. Nicolai Klindt ( 8. Christian Isomettä ) Rospiggarna (away) 1. Greg Hancock 2. Charlie Gjedde 3. Janusz Kolodziej 4. Chris Slabon Travis McGowan 5. Adam Shields R/R 6. Lubos Tomicek Jens Oskarsson 7. Robert Pettersson ) *-*-* PIRATERNA - ELIT VETLANDA at Lastpartner Arena, Motala There have been several late changes in this meeting. Rafal Okoniewski crashed in Poland during the weekend and will be replaced by Daniel Nermark in the main body while Mikael Max steps in at reserve. For Elit Vetlanda, Peter Ljung is still missing through a hand injury and Jaroslaw Hampel is missing due to illness. Karol Zabik and Rune Holta comes into the line-up, but that means that Morten Risager won't fit under the maximum average limit, so Anders Mellgren takes his place at No 6. Piraterna (home) 1. Grzegorz Walasek 2. Rafal Okoniewski Daniel Nermark 3. Robert Kosciecha 4. Damian Balinski 5. Ryan Sullivan 6. Linus Sundström 7. Daniel Nermark Mikael Max ( 8. - ) Elit Vetlanda (away) 1. I think it's Jonas Messing that he's replacing. -
For the 2007 and 2008 seasons. He rode 2 meetings for Västervik in the 2007 regular season and had 3 meetings this season.

SWEDISH ELITSERIEN ROUND 18 Tuesday September 2nd 2008 VÄSTERVIK - PIRATERNA 45-51 (Aggregate: 92-100) Attendence: 2379 Västervik had to win to have a chance to reach the Play Off, but Piraterna provided too much opposition. An injury-plagued Västervik only lead once and had to work from behind during most of the night, but when Kosciecha and Okoniewski recorded a 4-2 in the first nomination heat, Västervik's chances were totally gone. Heat details, courtesy of www.speedway.nu. Västervik 45 (92): Billy Forsberg 4/4, Bjarne Pedersen 12+2/6, Tomasz Chrzanowski 0/3, Chris Harris 7/5, Tomasz Gollob 13+1/5, Robert Johansson 3/4, James Wright 6+1/5, Jonas Andersson 0/0 Piraterna 51 (100): Robert Kosciecha 9+2/5, Damian Balinski 7/5, Grzegorz Walasek 6/4, Rafal Okoniewski 7+1/5, Ryan Sullivan 12/5, Mikael Max 7/4, Linus Sundström 3+2/4 *-*-* MASARNAAVESTA - DACKARNA 43-52 (Aggregate: 79-112) Attendence: 1782 At Arena Avesta, the home crowd had to witness their last Elitserien meeting for at least one season, as Dackarna - without Hans Andersen and Troy Batchelor - won by nine points. A 26-28 score turned into a 30-42 in only three heats, and the home side couldn't recover. Polish junior Grzegorz Zengota made his Elitserien debut, at his former Allsvenskan track, and scored well. Surely he must have the advantage over Lukas Dryml for the upcoming Play Off. Dryml has scored 9 points in 5 meetings away from home, Zengota managed that in 5 heats... Heat details, courtesy of www.speedway.nu. MasarnaAvesta 43 (79): Kenneth Bjerre 2/3, Dave Watt 5+1/4, Emil Sajfutdinov 9/6, Sebastian Aldén 8+1/5, Leigh Adams 10/5, Pawel Miesiac 5+1/5, Pontus Aspgren 2/1, Dennis Andersson 2+1/3 Dackarna 52 (112): Niklas Klingberg 2+1/4, Grzegorz Zengota 9+1/5, Fredrik Lindgren 11+2/5, Peter Karlsson 13+1/5, Andreas Jonsson 7/5, Ludvig Lindgren 7+2/5, Christian Isomettä 3/3 *-*-* SMEDERNA - HAMMARBY 49-47 (Aggregate: 98-94) Attendence: 1948 As MasarnaAvesta lost, Smederna took full advantage to beat Hammarby and stay in Elitserien for another season. It was a close fight at Smedstadion with no team being able to make a tactical substitution during the meeting. Smederna took the lead for the first team in heat 13 and then secured the bonus point, and the Elitserien status, in the first nomination heat as Krzysztof Buczkowski took the checkered flag first. Heat details, courtesy of www.speedway.nu. Smederna 49 (98): Daniel King 7/5, Robert Miskowiak 7/4, Krzysztof Kasprzak 9+2/5, Krzyztof Buczkowski 9+2/5, Wieslaw Jagus 11/5, Rory Schlein 4/4, Linus Eklöf 2+2/4 Hammarby 47 (94): Scott Nicholls 7/6, Rafal Dobrucki R/R, Tomasz Gapinski 7+3/6, Renat Gafurov 15/6, Matej Zagar 8+1/6, Martin Smolinski 5/4, Kim Nilsson 5+1/4 *-*-* LEJONEN - ROSPIGGARNA 58-38 (Aggregate: 102-88) Attendence: 2461 Rospiggarna, without the injured Adam Shields and Lubos Tomciek (sick), actually took the lead at Axelent Arena but Lejonen quickly turned it around to a 19-11 lead. The away team lacked any strength in depth and had it not been for Greg Hancock, this would have been a trashing, at least more than it turned out to be... Heat details, courtesy of www.speedway.nu. Lejonen 58 (102): Nicki Pedersen 10/5, Tomasz Jedrzejak 5+1/4, Chris Holder 10+1/5, David Ruud 9+3/5, Piotr Swiderski 8+1/4, Sebastian Ulamek 6+4/4, Ricky Kling 9+1/4, Robert Pettersson 0/1 Rospiggarna 38 (88): Greg Hancock 20+1/7, Charlie Gjedde 2/5, Janusz Kolodziej 10/7, Chris Slabon 3/4, Adam Shields R/R, Jens Oskarsson 0/3, Andreas Messing 3/6 *-*-* ELIT VETLANDA - INDIANERNA 60-36 (Aggregate: 102-90) Attendence: 2384 The Indians started the meeting well to win three of the five opening heats, but when Thomas H Jonasson and Lee Richardson made a pass each in heats 6 & 7 to win the respective heats, Elit Vetlanda took the command. Indianerna kept it fairly close (36-30) for 11 heats but had no chance against a powerful home side, without Peter Ljung, in the remaning heats which ended in a massive 24-6 score. As Piraterna beat Västervik away, the score in Vetlanda didn't matter for Indianerna who still entered the Play Off as the 6th placed team. Heat details, courtesy of www.speedway.nu. Elit Vetlanda 60 (102) 1. Ales Dryml 2*-1-1-1 = 5+1 (4) 2. Lee Richardson 3-2-3-3-2* = 13+1 (5) 3. Jaroslaw Hampel 2-1-3-2*-3 = 11+1 (5) 4. Thomas H Jonasson 1*-3-2*-3-2* = 11+3 (5) 5. Jason Crump 2-3-2*-3-3 = 13+1 (5) 6. Morten Risager 3-0-N-3 = 6 (3) 7. Daniel Davidsson 0-1*-0-Ef = 1+1 (4) 8. Robin Aspegren 0 = 0 (1) Indianerna 36 (90) 1. Magnus Zetterström 1-0-1*-N = 2+1 (3) 2. Adrian Miedzinski 0-2-2-X-1 = 5 (5) 3. Matej Ferjan 3-0-3-1-0-Ef = 7 (6) 4. Jesper B Monberg 0-3-2-0-0-0 = 5 (6) 5. Piotr Protasiewicz 3-1-2*-1-2-1 = 10+1 (6) 6. Henrik Gustafsson 2-1-0-N-2 = 5 (4) 7. Simon Gustafsson 1*-N-N-1* = 2+2 (2) 8. - For Elit Vetlanda, Dryml can score somewhat in the main body even nowadays, he scored in every heat so I guess that's OK. Richardson has had a good season in Sweden and didn't disappoint. Hampel started slow but got going. Jonasson is fantactic! He's take the step up in the main body and obviously intends to stay there. Crump delivers, as always. Risager won both reserve riders' heats so did his job. Davidsson looked slow. Had positions throughout the meeting but got passed. Aspegren rode a good one when he rode in heat 9. For Indianerna, Zetterström, the Swedish champion, didn't do anything this time. Miedzinski was usually in the mix and deserved more. Ferjan is one of the most extreme hot-and-cold riders out there, dead last at times but even won a heat by half a straight. Monberg is usually very good in Vetlanda but pulled a magical trick and disappear in his second half. Protasiewicz was, as the score suggest, the pick of the away team. He tried hard throughtout the meeting. (Henrik) Gustafsson was OK. (Simon) Gustafsson did what could be expected in only two rides. Man of the match: Thomas H Jonasson Most exciting rider: Thomas H Jonasson *-*-* FINAL STANDING: 1. Lejonen, 18, 13-0-5, 9/9, 35p (+142) 2. Dackarna, 18, 12-0-6, 7/9, 31p (+106) 3. PREVIEW OF SWEDISH ELITSERIEN ROUND 18 Tuesday September 2nd 2008 CURRENT STANDING: 1. Lejonen, 17, 12-0-5, 8/8, 32p (+122) 2. Dackarna, 17, 11-0-6, 6/8, 28p (+97) 3. Smederna, 17, 5-0-12, 0/8, 10p (-143) *-*-* VÄSTERVIK - PIRATERNA TV-Meeting at Sparbanken Arena Västervik All or nothing? That's the question for Västervik as they host Piraterna. Västervik must win to have a chance to reach the Play Off, a tie won't help them at all. The home side have some problems with their line-up as Niels-Kristian Iversen, Grigorijs Laguta and Mads Korneliussen are missing due to injuries. Billy Forsberg will move to the main body of the team so there's a new pairing at reserve with the Johansson/KorneliussenWright partnership. Track specialist Robert Johansson, now with partner team Vargarna, actually makes his season debut for Västervik. With the changes made for Västervik, it's not for certain that they have the strength to beat Piraterna, even though the Pirates have nothing to ride for. Västervik was one of the main favourites before the season but have struggled after several injuries, and could miss Play Off. They should be desperate for the win, and Canal+ have opted for an interesting one this round. Västervik (home) (47) 1. Billy Forsberg 2. Bjarne Pedersen 3. Grigorijs Laguta Tomasz Chrzanowski 4. Chris Harris 5. Tomasz Gollob 6. Robert Johansson 7. Tomasz Chrzanowski Mads Korneliussen James Wright ( 8. Jonas Andersson ) Piraterna (away) 0 (49) 1. Robert Kosciecha 2. Damian Balinski 3. Grzegorz Walasek 4. Rafal Okoniewski 5. Ryan Sullivan 6. Mikael Max 7. Linus Sundström ( 8. - ) *-*-* MASARNAAVESTA - DACKARNA at Arena Avesta The home side are one point ahead of Smederna in the bottom of the standing, but MasarnaAvesta have a tough task on Tuesday night as they host champions Dackarna. Simon Stead is missing but otherwise they bolster the best possible line-up, just as Dackarna by the way. Lukas Dryml, with only 9 points in 5 away meetings during the season, have been scratched and replaced by Troy Batchelor. Dackarna's main body of the team will always give them a chance to win meetings, in Avesta as well. MasarnaAvesta (home) 0 (36) 1. Kenneth Bjerre 2. Dave Watt 3. Emil Sajfutdinov 4. Sebastian Aldén 5. Leigh Adams 6. Pawel Miesiac 7. Pontus Aspgren ( 8. Dennis Andersson ) Dackarna (away) 0 (60) 1. Hans Andersen 2. Troy Batchelor 3. Fredrik Lindgren 4. Peter Karlsson 5. Andreas Jonsson 6. Ludvig Lindgren 7. Christian Isomettä ( 8. Christian Agö ) *-*-* LEJONEN - ROSPIGGARNA at Axelent Arena, Gislaved Of the five meetings in round 18, the meeting at Axelent Arena is probably the one with least interest. The Lions, lead by Nicki Pedersen, have already secured the league win and will face the 6th seed in the quarterfinal stages. Rospiggarna have also qualified for the Play Off, thankfully, as they won't get anything from tonight's meeting, especially without the injured Adam Shields. Lejonen (home) 0 (46) 1. Nicki Pedersen 2. Tomasz Jedrzejak 3. Chris Holder 4. David Ruud 5. Piotr Swiderski 6. Sebastian Ulamek 7. Ricky Kling ( 8. Robert Pettersson ) Rospiggarna (away) 0 (50) 1. Greg Hancock 2. Charlie Gjedde 3. Janusz Kolodziej 4. Chris Slabon 5. Adam Shields R/R 6. Lubos Tomicek 7. Andreas Messing ( 8. - ) *-*-* SMEDERNA - HAMMARBY at Smedstadion, Eskilstuna In Eskilstuna, the home side have their backs against the wall and must win to have a chance to avoid relegation. Thankfully for them, Smederna won in Stockholm earlier this season and probably will avoid relegation by winning tonight as MasarnaAvesta have a huge mountain to climb to take all points off Dackarna in their meeting. Hammarby have nothing to ride for, so the question is if they can mobilise enough spirit to push Smederna for the win? Don't think so. Smederna (home) 0 (49) 1. Daniel King 2. Robert Miskowiak 3. Krzysztof Kasprzak 4. Krzysztof Buczkowski 5. Wieslaw Jagus 6. Rory Schlein 7. Linus Eklöf ( 8. Daniel Henderson ) Hammarby (away) 0 (47) 1. Martin Smolinski 2. Rafal Dobrucki 3. Tomasz Gapinski 4. Renat Gafurov 5. Matej Zagar 6. Freddie Eriksson 7. Kim Nilsson ( 8. - ) *-*-* ELIT VETLANDA - INDIANERNA at Vetlanda Motorstadion In Vetlanda, the Indians have much to ride for as they'll try to defend their place among the top six. They haven't been particulary strong visitors to the Vetlanda track in previous seasons so they'll probably need to rely on Piraterna to keep their position in the standing. Elit Vetlanda are missing Peter Ljung due to a swollen hand after a fall in an Allsvenskan meeting last week, and Karol Zabik as well, so Ales Dryml are taking a place in the main body of the team with Daniel Davidsson stepping in at reserve. Elit Vetlanda (home) 0 (42) 1. Ales Dryml 2. Lee Richardson 3. Jaroslaw Hampel 4. Thomas H Jonasson 5. Jason Crump 6. Morten Risager 7. Daniel Davidsson ( 8. Robin Aspegren ) Indianerna (away) 0 (54) 1. Magnus Zetterström 2. Adrian Miedzinski 3. Matej Ferjan 4. Jesper B Monberg 5. Piotr Protasiewicz 6. Henrik Gustafsson 7. Simon Gustafsson ( 8. - ) All meetings can be followed live on www.speedway.nu from 19:00 Swedish time.

Lejonen have however secured the win and will face the 6th placed team in the quarterfinal stages, either Indianerna or Västervik. It looks most likely that Dackarna and Elit Vetlanda will have the option of choosing home/away for the quarterfinal (as they'll finish 2nd and 3rd, to meet Rospiggarna and/or Piraterna. Indianerna need to draw at Vetlanda to secure a Play Off place by themselves. They'll even make it if Västervik fails to win home against Piraterna. On the other hand, Västervik must win to have a chance of Play Off action. Winning the meeting but losing the bonus point (in a run-off which seems unlikely) would force Indianerna to lose all points at stake in Vetlanda for Västervik to be able to go through. Drama! In the bottom, MasarnaAvesta will have to rely on Hammarby to a draw in Eskilstuna for MasarnaAvesta to avoid relegation as it looks "impossible" for them to reach all 3 points themselves against Dackarna, IF Smederna beat Hammarby who really can't go anyway in the standing and have nothing to ride for but the honour. A lot of scenarios are available. On Tuesday at 21.00 we're bound to know...

Sorry for the late reply. It's been hectic for the last 48 hours so here's just a short version of what happened on Tuesday. SWEDISH ELITSERIEN ROUND 17 Tuesday August 26th 2008 ELIT VETLANDA - VÄSTERVIK 59-37 (Aggregate: 99-93) Attendence: 2800 Elit Vetlanda 59 1. Lee Richardson 1-2*-2-1*-1 = 7+2 (5) 2. Jonas Andersson For Elit Vetlanda, Richardson looked slow all night but I won't slag him off, he's been good so far this season and can be allowed to have a sub-par meeting. Ljung looked fast throughout but got sloppy in the final heat. Hampel shed a chain while leading his fourth, otherwise one of his better performence of the year. Jonasson scored a paid seven and one can't expect much more against this kind of opposition. Solid. Crump is a point scoring machine, nothing more, nothing less. Dryml is a trumph card at reserve for Elit Vetlanda for sure. Risager did his fair share of the job in beating the opposition reserves. For Västervik, Pedersen had a dreadful first one, like most of the Västervik riders, but improved and deserved his score in the end. Laguta got going from his first ride on the track, but faded some towards the end. Iversen won the "Enigma of the Day" award. Awful for two heats and then rides like a World Champion after being substituted in his third. Harris actually made some gates but basically had only one good ride. Gollob blew hot and cold. Ekberg was out of depth, but this is not his kind of track. Forsberg usually goes very well in Vetlanda and even though he tried hard a couple of times, he came out with nothing. PREVIEW OF SWEDISH ELITSERIEN ROUND 17 Tuesday August 26th 2008 INDIANERNA - LEJONEN at Sannahed's Motorstadion, Kumla The Indians are in the hunt for a Play Off place and could win, even though league leaders Lejonen are at full strength with an inspiring reserve duo of Sebastian Ulamek and Ricky Kling. They should cause the home team some problems, but several of the rides in the main body of the team could find themselves in problems. Tomasz Jedrzejak hasn't done miracles on this track, and neither Holder and Swiderski have been there AFAIK. If the league leaders are favourites for this one, they should be consider a favourite in danger. The Indians need the points more than Lejonen and do have home track advantage, but on the other hand, a team with Nicki Pedersen in the line-up will always be in contention for the win. Interesting! Indianerna (home) 0 (38) 1. Matej Ferjan 2. Magnus Zetterström 3. Adrian Miedzinski 4. Jesper B Monberg 5. Piotr Protasiewicz 6. Henrik Gustafsson 7. Simon Gustafsson ( 8. Robert Pettersson ) *-*-* PIRATERNA - MASARNAAVESTA at Lastpartner Arena, Motala A hot Piraterna team against second-to-bottom MasarnaAvesta, without Leigh Adams and the injured Simon Stead, will most likely finish in only one way. Sure, the away team probably need the points to stay out of last place, but the motivation factor won't help them. The Pirates are without Daniel Nermark but Rafal Okoniewski has been a good substitute for the Swedish WTC rider and has moved up to No 2 with Mikael Max going down to reserve. Piraterna (home) 0 (53) 1. Grzegorz Walasek 2. Rafal Okoniewski 3. Robert Kosciecha 4. Damian Balinski 5. Ryan Sullivan 6. Linus Sundström 7. Mikael Max ( 8. - ) MasarnaAvesta (away) 0 (43) 1. The away team from Målilla arrives at full strength with Lukas Dryml getting another chance, the GP rider has a high capacity but has struggled big time away from home. Despite that, Dackarna should be able to solve that problem considering the home side have far greater problem on the day. Hammarby (home) 0 (39) 1. Rafal Dobrucki R/R 2. Tomasz Gapinski 3. Renat Gafurov 4. Martin Smolinski 5. Scott Nicholls Denis Gizatullin 6. Kim Nilsson 7. Freddie Eriksson ( 8. - ) Dackarna (away) 0 (57) 1. Hans Andersen 2. Lukas Dryml 3. Fredrik Lindgren 4. Peter Karlsson 5. Andreas Jonsson 6. Nicolai Klindt 7. Ludvig Lindgren ( 8. Christian Isomettä ) *-*-* ROSPIGGARNA - SMEDERNA at Orionparken, Hallstavik The two teams that meet each other in Hallstavik have both suffered setbacks lately. Rospiggarna are missing Adam Shields who could be out for the season but team manager Mikael Messing can use the Riders Replacement facility for him. However, it hasn't been confirmed if that will be case, but it sure is likely. Even bigger problems for last placed Smederna who misses the injured Jonas Davidsson, but can't use the R/R facility as he's just third in the averages (behind Jagus and Kasprzak). Rory Schlein comes back into the team, on a track on which he scored a paid ten last year. A hard meeting to predict this one, but Smederna should have a good chance to salvage the aggregated bonus point...at least. Rospiggarna (home) 0 (43) 1. Greg Hancock 2. Charlie Gjedde 3. Janusz Kolodziej 4. Chris Slabon 5. Adam Shields 6. Lubos Tomicek 7. Andreas Messing ( 8. - ) Smederna (away) 0 (53) 1. Daniel King 2. Rory Schlein 3. Wieslaw Jagus 4. Robert Miskowiak 5. Krzysztof Kasprzak 6. Krzysztof Buczkowski 7. Linus Eklöf ( 8. Henrik Karlsson ) *-*-* ELIT VETLANDA - VÄSTERVIK TV-Meeting at Vetlanda Motorstadion A desperate Västervik team has sixth place in the standing at the moment, as they struggle to stay in a top six position. They are at full strength and usually goes well in Vetlanda, normally they provide Elit Vetlanda with their toughest test of the season at Vetlanda Motorstadion. The home side can ride a lot more relaxed, at least as they're looking at the standing, but they'll have to do it without Karol Zabik who got injured in Britain last week. Zabik (and Törnqvist) are replaced by Ales Dryml and Morten Risager, probably an equally good option around the Vetlanda track. If Billy Forsberg can keep the reserve's heats close, the remainder of the meeting (from heat 12 and forward) will be a cracker, infront of the Canal+ crew. Elit Vetlanda (home) 0 (40) 1. Lee Richardson 2. Peter Ljung 3. Jaroslaw Hampel 4. Thomas H Jonasson 5. Jason Crump 6. Ales Dryml 7. Morten Risager ( 8. Robin Aspegren ) Västervik (away) 0 (56) 1. Bjarne Pedersen 2. Grigorijs Laguta 3. Niels-Kristian Iversen 4. Chris Harris 5. Tomasz Gollob 6. Stefan Ekberg 7. Billy Forsberg ( 8. Jonas Andersson ) All meeting will be covered by www.speedway.nu from 19:00.

Not at all, just had a bottle of pear flavoured mineral water in the evening. Certain people within the Hammarby organziation keeps telling me how horrible speedway it is in Vetlanda, and how extraordinary entertaining it is at the Gubbängen so I just had high expectations I guess.

SWEDISH ELITSERIEN ROUND 16 Tuesday August 19th 2008 LEJONEN - MASARNAAAVESTA 8-4 Attendence: - Abandoned after 2 heats. Result doesn't stand. New date: TBA *-*-* SMEDERNA - VÄSTERVIK 40-56 (Aggregate: 84-108) Attendence: 1910 Heat details, courtesy of www.speedway.nu. The Blacksmiths lost Jonas Davidsson to injury in his first heat and was naturally a big factor in the outcome of this meeting. His status is unknown to me at the moment. Jagus/King tied the meeting at 18-18 after 6 but the home side fell back before the interval and was down by 25-35 after 10 heats, and could never recover. King/Kasprzak were on the opposite side of two maximums in heats 12 & 14 as track specialist Niels-Kristian Iversen recorded two paid maximums in those heats. Smederna (home) 40 (84) 1. The Canal+ broadcast from Stockholm wasn't a good meeting at all, I'm sorry to say it actually produced very poor entertainment. Hammarby, with Matej Zagar back in the team but still without the injured (shoulder) Scott Nicholls, opened up an early lead against a Indianerna team that simple wasn't up for it in the early stages. The second half of the meeting was better for the Indians as they climbed back to force a last heat decider but Protasiewicz/Monberg couldn't beat MOTM Gapinski who secured two vital points for Hammarby. Krzysztof Jablonski 1-0-N-0 = 1 (3) ( 8. - ) For Hammarby, Dobrucki had some good heats, but didn't shine. Gapinski was excellent for this being only his second meeting back from injury. Smolinski was always in contention and produced vital points throughout the night. Good second string effort! Zagar didn't do much, to my dispair (since I have him in my Speedway Manager fantasy team). Nilsson must feel gutted by only getting two heats. Eriksson took most points against opposition reserves, as he should. Solid work. For Indianerna, Monberg was patchy to say the least. Miedzinski looked awful early on but improved. Ferjan had a decent third one but generally was as bad as he can be on his worst kind of day. Zetterström gated for his points but tried hard when behind as well. Worth his points. Protasiewicz was class, but had no answer to Gapinski in his last. Gustafsson hasn't much of a hot streak at all, sad to see because he has so much talent. Jablonski was actually better than the score suggested, can't believe he ended with just a single point. Man of the match: Tomasz Gapinski Most exciting rider: - *-*-* CURRENT STANDING: 1.
