This weekend just seems to get better and better, as I told Paul last night get my childhood hero Dave Morton to attend and it will make it perfect.

I would love to read a book about Len Silver or maybe another of the old Allied Presentations team Reg Fearman. I used to sit next to his Mum at Hackney and he used to bring me lots of the old programmes from various tracks, would be nice to read about how they built Smallmead from stratch.

Housing very close to the stadium, you have to walk along the back of the gardens to get to the main enterance.

cant believe Coventry have nicked our `make it a date, fridays at 8` slogan. was sorting out the loft last weekend and found the 1983 programme (vs Ipswich! ) that had photo of me in it, a young looking me with Jens and Bo taken on the centre green. What happy memories this has all brought back.
-
i`d certainly try and attend both events.

i`m sure I saw him ride it at Waterden Road, re-call the amazing angle of lean round the corners, and very fast around them as well!

No. BBC offices now occupy the site.

i bought that video the other week, not a lot of the Hawks period that you want, most of the video action is about the Kestrals. Not one of the better videos, although the walkabout of the old stadium bought back lots of memories, but did show how rundown the old place had become by the end. Must say the presenter was a bit dodgy.

In the Express, said "on the the site of the old Greyhound and Speedway track". At least one journalist knows his stuff.

http://sport.guardian.co.uk/olympics/story...1072332,00.html Seems like they dont want to use the land after all, wonder why they pulled down all the remaining buildings that made it still a stadium (all be it, unused), just days before this news came out? :x
-
Terrible news. :x a place of wonderful childhood memories. The stadium site was purchased by the London Development Agency and I was told of a local newspaper article a few months ago that reported they wanted to return the stadium to its former use if the Olympic bid failed, looks unlikey that will happen if theres no stadium left.

Gollob Team riding???
Tom Thumb replied to Lanzilla's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Worst tactitian must go to Swedish team manager and/or Michael Max, for his last bend pass (to take 2nd) in heat 24. Ruled out a last heat Joker, and with only AJ finishing would have grabbed a draw, and a run-off between poss Rickardsson and Gollob would have been great to see. -
or a team that already has a track being used for 5 meetings this year.
