  1. Well done to the Potters on their win on the day. The track was not in the best shape for the second meeting and it clearly caught a fair few of the riders out. Branford was by far the best rider on show in the second meeting, his charge from last to first in heat 15 was fantastic. Chessell looks good too, I think his fall in his last ride was due to a mechanical problem, if he hadn't come down he'd have finished his programmed rides on 11 points and may have had more of an impact on heat 15 than Priest did. Hughes seemed to have bike problems which is concerning as we need him to be able to compete in all his programmed rides and be ready to go for heat 15 if needed. The reserves look rough around the edges but look as if they will only improve. Bowtell looks more steady at the moment but Hume seems to be able to get away from the tapes better. I look forward to watching their development over the course of the year. Stoke look a solid outfit on paper this year and I fancy them to put in a title challenge. Terry-Daley seemed to have gone backwards from last year however but that could be due to the track conditions in fairness. Tedham will pick up lots of points against rookie reserves this term in my opinion, if he does this and moves up into a 1-5 position the Potters will always have a strong reserve. Think it will take a monumental effort for the Raiders to progress in the cup this season but it is good to see them back on track.
  2. Lost opportunity to all but cement a place in the League Cup Semi Finals. Mellgren turned up today, which is positive. Unfortunately Robin, Boxall and Bowen didn't. Kennett led by example in his opening four rides, was poor in heat 15. Jakobsen had his worst meeting for us so far in scoring six, we shouldn't be expecting more than that from him yet so he's exempt from criticism in my eyes. For the Panthers, Palm Toft looked very good. Robert Lambert too. Despite the track conditions there was some very good racing, Lambert and Jakobsen's tussle and heat 13 spring to mind. Well done to the Panthers, put themselves back in the mix to progress now.
  3. Exactly, and if you want to leave after the first meeting you aren't going to leave without claiming your £4 back. The fans that do leave early will probably spend more than that £4 in the stadium on food, drink and programmes etc too, especially if they are planning on getting back to Peterborough in time for the evening fixture.
  4. If fans only want to watch the first meeting then charge them £20 at the start. Once the first meeting is finished stick someone on the turnstile who can reimburse the extra money paid by anyone wishing to leave providing they return their admission ticket. Not Rocket science.
  5. Covatti is supposedly the best reserve trump card in the PL this year. Makes sense to book a guest up to Kasper's average as if we did use Branford and he performed poorly, potentially costing us meeting points, there'd be a lot of complaints aimed at the promotion. Personally I'm not a Covatti fan but if he's got his gating head on and his bikes can last the distance he may we do a decent job.
  6. Top fours look even. Reserves will play a big part but I think the Raiders can win this.
  7. Kennett has never been that good around Lynn either IMO. Should have done better last night but his poor performance wasn't too much of a surprise.
  8. We've already got more League Cup points than we did from our 8 group meetings last season.
  9. A speedway track is a speedway track. Rye has been labelled as one many times in the past but it simply isn't. Neither is Eastbourne. Realistic and negative are different things, I'm the former. I think some Eastbourne fans are underestimating the division they have dropped into though and I am certain I am not alone in thinking that.
  10. Your best bet is to keep Ellis and Perry apart aside from heat 15. Two heat wins gets you 6 points, if they race in a heat together they can only score you 5.
  11. The Eastbourne "trick track" thing isn't true either. There are plenty of small tracks in the NL and all tracks are there to be ridden at the end of the day.
  12. Hadn't thought of that. Assume if home meetings clash we take priority though.
  13. Mason, Owen, Warwick and Andrews have all been in the league before though.
  14. Just saw some pictures of the new Eastbourne team suits, Eastbourne invented team suits I hear, they look horrible.
  15. I wouldn't think so, unless we decide to have any home meetings on Friday nights.
  16. Nielsen looked the better rider on the night, his machinery let him down otherwise he would have been the match winner for the Witches. Covatti popped out and won a couple but came last in his other heats, didn't look like a bloke who finished 5th in a GP challenge to me.
  17. Len Silver's programme notes from Saturday state that if there is a clash the home side will take priority, although that was subject to BSPA approval. I assume if both sides are away Eddie will ride for the Rockets as he is our rider.
  18. Going to try get up to this if i can get off work early enough. Expecting a Witches win, the reserves hold the key and you'd expect Covatti and Nielsen to outscore Bowen and Lykke round their own track. That being said if Anders is on his game from his first heat and the rest of the top 5 can do as well as they did on Saturday we may nick a point.
  19. The Raiders have race suits this season because the club has a new owner and wants a more professional, uniform look for the riders and that can't be a bad thing. The Rockets have them too and this has been done for professional reasons I'm sure, not to keep up with the Joneses or should I say the Dugards. Mildenhall have announced they are having race suits too because it is their anniversary and they are being funded by donations I believe. But really, does it matter who said they were having race suits first? No. Childish argument.
  20. The result was tight but the green shoots of revival are there to see at Rye. Was expecting more from Kennett, thought King would trouble him but he'd be otherwise dominant. Early season though, he'll win more races than he doesn't at home this year. Aspegren impressed after his first race duck. His bend 1/2 cut back in heat 10 was fantastic. More of the same and he'll soon be a Rye favourite. Early signs from Jakobsen are very good. He can gate for one. Had pace out front and once he gets to grips with the track he should do even better at home. For the Witches Heeps looked very good. Nielsen would have won them the match had his machinery been more reliable.
  21. To carry on with his racing career. Otherwise you can't blame him for not rushing back.
  22. Should have bought a return ticket when he flew out then.
  23. While one meeting doesn't make a season this result shows just how much the Brummies are going to rely on Ellis (and Perry). Great to hear that a big crowd attended last night, let's hope they all return best week for the second leg and continue to do so throughout the season. One of the best things about watching Speedway at this level is watching a rider develop from being a 'wobbler' into a solid NL rider and then hopefully further on from that. I hope the Brummies fans will appreciate that as come the end of the season they'll be looking at completely different riders to the ones that rode last night in a few cases.
