Matej Kus? Didn't he have a bad crash at glasgow 2 weeks ago?
-
Got to agree, the poles will probably walk it. We should finish second, hopefully tomicek and sitera will give us a run for our money. Cant see the germans doing much, even though it's a home track. We're doing this one on the cheap, a day return to salzburg and grab a car, only 2 hour drive.

At the time most of us non-danes on the 2nd bend thought all4back or freddie excluded. after seeing the reply umpteen times i can only assume bates excluded KB as freddie was in front of him at the moment of impact. For those who didn't see the TV, KB fell when his handlebar got caught under the rear wheel guard of freddie's bike. Very harsh decision but it seems if a ref wants to get on in the world of gp's, he must exclude someone wherever possible, where as in league meetings it's all4back.

British Speedway Gp 2008
spanner47 replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Thats not the only problem with that cardiff central travelodge, the bloody noise is very loud until about 4am, we'll never stay there again. Maybe we were unlucky and got on the wrong side of the hotel, but i certainly wouldn't recommend it to light sleepers. -
Ok, i will too but not in tobi's heat.

spanner47 replied to Mad Mitch's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Thanks for optimistic posting rob, i was dreading another 21 heats of that when i go to the g.p. qualifier in september. -
Cheers for the info petteri, looks like we've picked a good weekend for our first taste of finnish speedway. See you there.

I've always been searched at gate 1. So i just shove all the booze down my sleeves, secure them with rubber bands and throw jacket over shoulder. Dont know why but when i've stood back and watched from various points of the stadium gate1 always appears to be the worst for security.

Individual Meeting In France The Weekend?
spanner47 replied to speedwayt's topic in International World of Speedway
The meeting actually started at 3pm with the french championship. Result 1. mathieu tresarrieu 2. christophe dubernard 3. stephane tresarrieu. As the last race didn't finish until 00-45 it was just as well the bit in the middle looked naff, so that enabled us to find a hotel and go back for the main event. Great track, but a very uncomfortable stadium, no seats, no terracing, just a bank of stones, rocks, gravel and a bit of grass. But the organisers must have been happy with a crowd of 3,500<approx> there. -
Ec Pairs Semifinal, Natschbach 5.5. Live Updates
spanner47 replied to tomazpozrl's topic in International World of Speedway
Must agree with that. 4 of the teams didn't even bother to send a reserve. Anyway it was an enjoyable meeting, only marred by the dangerous stupidity of simota. When will this idiot learn that speedway is dangerous enough without the likes of him barging into other riders without no thought of the other blokes safety. Luckily fritz wallner got up and was only bruised, but it could have been a lot worse. There's no place in speedway for riders like this!!!!! -
Line Up U21 Quali Herxheim
spanner47 replied to German Speedway Fan's topic in International World of Speedway
You good people at herxheim deserved a big crowd for all the hard work making sure the meeting passed by without a hitch. Well prepared track, plenty of good racing, excellent catering <well priced too>, and all for 9 euros. I hope the F.I.M. give you another world meeting in the near future, you deserve it. On the racing front, the highlight for me was the performance of the unknown Martin Vaculik. This boy is gonna be a star, and whats more will be well suited to british tracks if yesterday is anything to go by, as the herxheim track is the only british type track i've ever seen on the continent. British promoters take note, herxheim is not a speedway area, yet 2800 turned up yesterday, why? because it only cost 9 euros to get in. -

I witnessed the plymouth v usa meeting on friday, plenty of incident, yes, but most of that was down to poor riders on a tiddly track. On sunday i witnessed gniezno v gdansk, now thats what you call passing in most races, plenty of incident, and a very enjoyable afternoon. On top of that, witnessed by a massive crowd, creating a wonderful atmosphere. Now thats real speedway!! -
According to www.speedway.org/kalender/2007/index.html theres a meeting in st johann on the 19th. But it just says speedwayrennen, hopefully one of our germen friends can enlighten us a bit more. If you do go, theres a nice guesthouse the other side of the railway line, about 2 mins walk form track. You cant miss it, it's a big yellow house.

What Gp's Are You Going To In 2007?
spanner47 replied to SCB's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Must agree with rob here, i'd be horrified if a g.p. cost me more than £150. Travel, front row ticket and hotel in gelsenkirchen £90 the lot. -
German Gp Confirmed
spanner47 replied to German Speedway Fan's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
The biggest ever prize for a speedway meeting and it's on a temporary track, i just hope the $100,000 is won by the best rider and not lost by some poor sod hitting a rut. Bad decision b.s.i., the biggest prize in the history of the sport should have been raced on a PROPER track. Nevertheless i've booked front row seats and my hotel, so lets hope it will live up to all the hype it's gonna get over the next few months -
On the assumption the U21 final starts at normal polish time <5ish>. leave bydgoszcz 10-12 arrive ostrow 14-39 via poznan, all for the princely sum of £7. Sounds like a damn good weekend to me!!
-
G'day dave, see where you're coming from, but £150 <max> per g.p. and a few little dramas is certainly my way of doing things, always reckon the odd drama adds to the fun of it. 3000km for a meeting? Good luck mate, hope the rain holds off.

A lot of people are under the impreesion that san bonifacio is the nearest station. 2 years ago i picked some friends up there, but the verona-venice train goes to the next stop which is lonigo<about £2 from verona>, other people were coming of trains and were struggling to get a cab. The best bet is get off at lonigo then cab back to san bonifacio. As the italians start late you cant get a train back afterwards, just after 10pm is the last one back to the best of my knowledge. Fully agree with other postings re verona, best place to fly too and stay. £185 for week is good deal, i think big fat dave saying you might pay a "little" more with tp tours is well off the mark!!!

Latvia Gp 2007
spanner47 replied to Workington/Torun Zuzel's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Or you could do the sensible option. Book your own flight for about £90 <max> then 20p for bus to the centre, stay as long as you like in riga, then £2-50 on the train to daugavpils, but i recommend the bus at £3-50, it's a darn sight more comfy. No "extras" to fork out for, have a lovely time for half the price!!!!!!!!!!! -
I'll go back, only £3-50 for a very comfy coach ride from riga, friendly people, lovely girls, footy in the afternoon before the meeting and very very cheap food and drink, only disappointment was seeing the locals outside unable to afford the entrance fee, would certainly have been a full house if they had sold cheaper tickets to locals. And to complete a great weekend i got upgraded to business class on way home, while the coventry lads, boggle and mr lindback were slumming it in the cattle truck.
-
As well as your brolly, a decent jumper good be handy, says showers, max 14% min 10%, if it's on sky at 7pm, then it's 9pm out there so could be chilly by midnight, then back to the latgola and drink with boggle until 5am <if she lets me>.

Prague- Who Is Going?
spanner47 replied to Sandie's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Regarding the transport out to slany, theres a bus/tram from dejvicka <for those that eint been before, this is where the bus from the airport stops at the end of the metro>. It says depart 13-42 arrive 14-25, 32km, 33kr. Coming back thers a 22-35 thats get back to dejvicka at 23-20. There's other options but this seemed about the easiest one to me. I'm sure there's a train service out there, but i couldn't find one that comes back after 10pm. If anybody has found a good train option, please post it as i'm sure most would prefer to go by train. -
