From the Sheffield Web Site SHEFFIELD co-promoter Peter Mole insists plans are going ahead for the reintroduction of speedway at Owlerton in August. But Mole, a West Midlands-based businessman, also says there is a lot of work to do to ensure spectators can safely enjoy the racing once the green light is given by the government. Most club bosses throughout the UK believe social distance measures are possible in their venue and signage has already been put up at Scunthorpe including restricted numbers in the paddock. Mole said: “The stadium are confident it could be made a COVID-19 friendly venue; it’s got so much open space and it would be a case of working out the safely designated standing areas per group of supporters who entered. “The pits aren’t the biggest at Sheffield but we could find a way around that by extending them temporarily like we do on the bigger events and also by restricting the amount of people who can be in there at any one time. “Then there’s other things like one way entrances, exits and walkways and a list of other things we’d need to ensure were in place as well; not necessarily insurmountable but there’s so much which would require a lot of close consideration. “We have a great relationship with our landlords at Owlerton and we will work closely with them to ensure the sport can restart at the appropriate time – but we don’t want to fill fans with over the top enthusiasm because there is work to do.”

Future Format for British Speedway

Sorry I have read this correctly, didn't realise it was meant to have more than rider, thought it was meant to be qualifying for the GP's last season, complete misunderstanding -

They didn't this year, I booked with a cancellation option as soon as it was announced they tried to charge me up front and when I complained they agreed I had booked before they changed their conditions and I got a refund and I cancel free of charge once it has been cancelled officialy -

Why does PL football need help, the major sport in the country, don't understand that comment at all there are loads of minor sports, including Speedway, who may or may not survive, who would need very small amounts of money to survive, and yes I am a UK tax payer -
See above post
-
Its a con, it has always been touted as the number of tests carried out, now it seems we should all have known it wasn't that at all, for gods sake "its in the post" is now being used as an excuse by the government
-
Rules made up by the people who have to follow them, great way of doing things so the definition of tests carried include the ones carried out to someone's house by the postman bet we all wish we could work to rules like these
-
From the answer about numbers tested, if I understood the answer, which is not easy to do, 36,000 of the tests were home tests sent out yesterday, so not quite 100,000 tests carried out but I could have misunderstood the vague answer Just had to clarify the answer, so not 100,000 carried out as the ones in the post have been counted as done as well

Will the premiership start on time?

And hopefully that is where people will see that football, is not really that important and all they are bothered about is getting the money from the TV companies -
All to do with money, the bookies must be losing a fortune, so they need horse racing back, but until there is a relaxation of lockdown how can loads of people gather at a horse race meeting but not in a public park? Plus you need paramedics, ambulances etc which wont be allowed at the moment

Cant see football happening behind closed doors until some relaxation of the lock down rules what's the difference between a football match behind closed doors, the Germans say that up to 300 people would be involved in a TV match with no supporters, and 22 kids playing in a park? (apart from money that is) bit hard to fine the kids for playing in a park while allowing professionals to the same thing -
They will all be practising in Australia this winter

Great idea, extend it to other care workers as well, but would welcome reduced admission if my team can afford it -
Will British Speedway Survive ?
The Third Man replied to old bob at herne bay's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I have now given up trying to discuss anything with him / her Facts don't matter just whatever agenda they want to put forward -
The problem is some outlay will already have been made, air fences etc, so some losses will still be made even if there is no speedway
-
You have to consider the cost of air fares into this and who pays them The cost of air fares spread over a season is one thing, the cost spread over a third of a season are something different it may be that teams / riders may decide its not worth the outlay this year
-
No chance, who would be buying tickets at this stage Got my hotels with a right to cancel, will wait until I cancel, but it wont be going ahead

To be honest I want to watch speedway, so the Thursday night option at Sheffield appeals much more to me, so much so that I wouldn't attend the Sunday afternoon event -
Thats no problem nobody gets my last Rolo
