  1. tbh I find it a bit odd that leathers seem to have completely disappeared....... when you outline it as you have above there is an argument for both and usually in that scenario both are used I take it that the same protection isnt available for those choosing to wear leathers? that because the leathers are already skin tight that nothing could be slipped in other than a back support?? looking at the moto gp riders they have managed to combine the both it seems ... but I wonder at what cost
  2. superb job on the track... and everything speedway should be about well done to those involved
  3. the moment we werent awful and our riders werent badly tailed off and suffering it was job done pure and simple.............. the night was about experience and they got it Ed looked the most fragile but Pboro has never been a good track for him ..... Danny King was breathtaking and ex home track or not to be able to pass Gollob on his outside on any track is impressive stuff.... the other 3 were solid for their relative standard............................. perhaps more importantly the team looked like a proper team in the pits with several non riding team members having their parts to play.... great to see the likes of Michael Lee, Graham Jones and John Davis in there The racing was top drawer on a track that not only have competing lines but those lines also moved and changed.......some of the races were incredible and i'm certain that Pboro is being pencilled in as a final venue of the future as we speak ............... I strongly suspect that someone has had a word with Ole finally........... maybe he should sit in the stands on or off the phone more often?? It is difficult to know what to feel about the race off....... on one hand the Danes are down a man or two and are weaker ........ and the Swedes looked far from comfortable the other night ....... but on the other the Aussies are looking certs to go through...... and the Danes and Swedes have a hell of a lot of experience not only in Poland but also on similarly big tracks Its a done deal with Rico that he is in seemingly and if that keeps him happy and a part of the setup then so be it but it doesnt change a hell of a lot even if he sticks in a world class Crump/Hampel/Sajfutdinov score............. I hope the boys ride as well as they did tonight but their chances of qualifying are remote imho and it is still all about the experience and finally those who have used RL's team selection as yet another way of being 'controversial' and knocking the guys.... I wont point out anything because ultimately there never was anything to point out....... it always was about gaining the experience.... and it always was about fast tracking the likely candidates.... both are under way and team Great Britain will be all the healthier for it over the coming years ......
  4. as Henry said last night a reserve being used tactically is a better farce than a team having an incomplete team but there has to be a way of making sure that using a reserve is a drop on what is already in the team
  5. well no one wants to hear that and it sounds like quite an awkward injury ah Gary yes...... Billy and Gary were both class acts on their day but I think its time HenryW forgave them for not winning on home soil considering the class they were most likely up against well I do think the Aussies are trying to win at Pboro considering the squad they selected which automatically gives the Poles an issue with qualifying directly if they want to ...... after Kelvin tried to play down the success of those who choose the race off route it looks like it is going to almost be as tough as the final itself
  6. golden days .... and slightly disappointing looking back that we didnt make the sheer class we had back then count for more with titles hmmmm 1982 ..... surely King Kenny and Peter Collins wouldnt have ridden together?
  7. lol I shouldnt worry Pearcey ..... once was enough
  8. indeed that JC has done very well in profiting from those assessed averages
  9. LOL and you havent forgotten for 27 years have you? im trying to think who their riders would have been...... Phil Crump and Billy Sanders?
  10. I feel sorry for the Aussies that they never enjoy home advantage........... looking at the quality of their squad now and the potential of their youngsters it is easy to see how they could rule things for a sustained period of time
  11. lmao and you avoid the question again ok Orion
  12. oh ok well I could well agree with you there .......... but this is some diversion off the path isnt it? Orion will be saying it is off topic next I suspect that would all come down to money and the promoters really havent seemed too interested in the state of our riders in recent seasons...... as much as i'd like to see it I cant imagine those same promoters will be too quick to fund such a thing.........
  13. well you did ask p.s. some interesting skin ripping exchanges with Middlo as well
  14. what the hell has happened on this forum? is it really acceptable to be giving out unintelligent abuse? grown adults or children? henry well i'll trust your better memory.... what I remember from that interview was Nicki taking things to the nth degree
  15. would that be here? http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/ind...st&p=982904 so i'll ask the question again if you had got your robins tinted wish should Rosco have immediately fallen on his Swindon sword? oh come on as much as I like Rico he cannot be described as a star rider even at team level........ he is a 9 point rider no matter how much you like him........ we should be aiming for our national team to have 9 point riders as our weakest riders in the team not strongest 'lets carry on as we are' ?? no thats the point..... someone has had the sense to end the nightmare gradual decline by viewing guys such as Rico and Nicholls as stars who we can pin everything on.......... we are doing anything but carrying on as we are where have you been for the last couple of years? This team hasnt just come from nowhere ... they have been blooded over a period of time and have consistently been on the up........... has that been the case with Rico, Scott et al then?.... or just possibly have they been in decline? 100%............. and then next season we have more options .... but as I was going off topic so well with...... this is not something RL can do on his own.......... if the promoters start stepping up to the plate as well we could have more riders than we know what to do with in 5/10 years time I'll ask you again Orion because your posts have a great habit of conveniently ignoring some questions and points...... with a team of Richardson, Nicholls, Bomber, Kennett and either Lewis or Tai do you think we would have a chance of winning the 2009 SWC.......... and if the answer is no then how does it do us more good in the grand scheme of things to use Nicholls and Richardson rather than the youngsters gaining more experience?
  16. Emil is Emil and I guess we will see over the next few seasons what he is made of...... there is far too much going on with him to know what to think Nicki is a different kettle of fish though ....... when you say 'immediately after' do you mean in the same tv interview that everyone watched and will remember? in the club after? in the speedway star 5 days after? seriously though despite the guys getting pumped up why say something so ridiculous? he isnt a novice is he?
  17. lol yeah that brings back some memories........... didnt we have the farce of 3 teams having riders pulling out after their poor showings? (leszno 07?)
  18. i'm just assuming you are on the wind up now tbh Orion.... have you nothing better to do with your time? so let me get this right..... Middlo.... and now RL should break away from their clubs when they are GB manager...... because of course they have that swing and power within the sport right? ........ and then off their own backs convince the BSPA to not only table but also agree on their proposal that will turn GB into the next superpower .......... the very same BSPA who are doing their best to help turn Australia into a superpower yeah I agree Frigbo ... somehow I doubt it will happen as well So after all of those posts trying to get Middlo out of a job he was doing well in at the time.... and now RL before a wheel has even been turned..... im trying to figure out how it works that Roscoe should get the job when Swindon in the Roscoe era are hardly renowned for putting the Brits first...... if Roscoe had got the job are we saying he should have gone on this same bedtime story route of breaking away? I think you give yourself too much credit for the games you try to play sorry you were suggesting that Rico was a 'star' at international level werent you?
  19. lol sorry but I must comment on a few thing here LT there is a difference between hard and reckless which is most certainly what Nicki was ... and has at times returned to this season in the GP's Nicki has been playing a very odd physical game this season and this has been easy to see with the sheer amount of incidents he has been involved in ............. he has not accepted anything in the gp's as being his fault so far (he even described completely wiping Emil out in one GP as Emil running into him after he had recovered!) and even managed to pressure spinless officials into replacing a ref by threatening to not ride over a decision which was not cut and dried...... just like tonights I hope Nicki is 'ok' as well but that doesnt affect my eyesight or nose for bs ... and both have been working well all season and finally I agree with you about GB having a better chance of success with a few NickiP's in the team Nicki's involvement in the sport benefits it but he is one of many and has no divine right to anything on or off track and all the signs have been there this season that he thinks he does
  20. no doubt he used to ride for the robins and if he was Polish he would be viewed as no better than Walasek........... I can see how he is GB's saviour and I take back everything
  21. lol you are telling me to not do what? frigbo he is not the KL promoter............ now who is being obtuse? We all know 100% KL's transfer policy and win at all costs attitude............... we also know that managers are usually in the situation of doing the best with what they are given........we also know that managers usually gain their position by being local to the club ........so considering all of that is it me or is RL almost in an identical postion that Middlo was? i'll be honest I was one of those offended by the ridiculous campaign waged by the Robins fans against Middlo despite the relatively good job that he had carried out until the start of the 07 campaign............. and here they are doing it again before RL has even had 1 match in charge behave yourself there should be no club tribal nonsense here and if Roscoe really is as good as you guys think then he will have his chance............. meanwhile RL is in charge and actually trying to do something about bringing us back to the level of the big boys
  22. how do you know that was what they were laughing at?
