thats because it is bias there are a few riders who will expoit the rules and the position that refs find themselves in amongst the rules ...... ie these riders see it as a skill to be implimented on track (sic)................. I think it would be disingenuous if you were to say you didnt recognise Hans as being one of them ultimately while the rules are the way they are then the rules are the rules ................ but to say it is a little hard on Hans when we all saw what a mess he made of trying to swan dive is a bit of a joke tbh -

nope I believe the ref made the only decision he could as well...... I think the circumstances were unlucky for Bomber but thats something entirely different first things first it was bend 2 so that rules out any chance of a restart with all riders...... just as per crump/jonsson secondly hans was not out of control (just like Crump) which is an important consideration for a ref................ sure he had slammed the anchors on but that was because of someone in front of him.... ie Hans had the sense to make sure he didnt take someone off thirdly it was bomber's (and Jonsson's) responsibility to get around the bend without wiping someone out and this didnt happen the only thing in Bomber and Jonsson's favour with the ref was the consideration of how Andersen and Crump came off their bikes........ Crump had a man in front of him with the anchors on (who at the time jason was trying to position himself inside of) while at the same time he was slammed into from the side........... imo he did the most sensible thing and kicked his bike away otherwise Jonsson's shove was going to land him in the back of the guy infront potentially causing some cartwheeling........................................... Andersen was much more like a Nielsen professional slide off...... actually thats an insult to Neilsen as he never made it look so obvious....... but the fact remains that Andersen had himself just managed to avoid a collision and this I think was the key consideration for the ref as Bomber decided to try to pass instead of slamming anchors on himself the only decision the ref got wrong was the NickiP one where a dogs dinner was made out of what should have been a simple all 3 back p.s. and full credit to Bomber for being one of the few riders this season to not try to skin the ref over something that was his fault......... the riders are more to blame for the discussions over refs than anyone else -

haha quite! tbh I cant quite believe the detail that some posters have gone into about the incident so a few handbags were thrown... but what is apparent is that both riders got stuck in and we have some passion in the gp's that has been missing for a couple of seasons before people are too quick to hang draw and quarter Emil and his team ...we should acknowledge not only what guys like Gollob and Pedersen were like when they were young but also the life that Emil and his team have injected into this season -

I apologise for not linking but I have no idea which thread I read it in ........but I believe someone has posted that they received $600 fines each Ive heard it said before that being punched while wearing a crash helmet is actually no fun and can cause injury due to the way that the helmet snaps the head back -

haha! just seen this Nevs that camera has been worth its weight in gold the difference with the Muse spheres though is that they were thrown into the crowd which has to be a lot more fun ....... although in Paris they were all killed by cigarettes within 10 minutes -

I think you are being cynical..... but I dont think you are being too cynical It would certainly make sense as currently despite Bomber's improved machinery and gating he has a real struggle on to get into a position in the rankings where it will be easy for the organisers to give him a permanent wildcard.......... and Scott would have to start doing something miraculous to qualify or deserve a wildcard and possibly the most important factor here is IMG's need for the Brits to be represented...................... I do worry though that they will insist on 2 brits again next season and either select Bomber when he clearly doesnt deserve it (hopefully he will qualify as of right though) .... or end up chucking in someone too soon like Ed -
isnt it amazing how after a few gp's of one rider trying to make out that black is white and vice versa that not only do the commentators start forgetting the rules but also the fans on this forum seemingly! the ref only messed up once tonight and that was by excluding NickiP instead of exercising his right for all riders back..... regardless of what nicki or the commentators were saying the bomber incident had nothing at all to do with this incident bomber and jonsson had to be excluded from their races because they had not passed cleanly...... they had both made contact with riders who fell and werent out of control .............. sad to say but I think we are starting to see the Hans Neilsen days come back with the art of sliding off the bike after contact at the back of the field in a race......... but as far as a ref is concerned there are certain things that are key the competition is in danger of becoming a farce over the comments made about refereeing by riders .... someone needs to get a grip of it because every decision is being challenged now and there have only been a couple of incorrect decisions this season imo............... controversy creates interest but there is a limit interesting GP overall with some unsavoury incidents that a couple of guys will be red cheeked about in the morning and possibly lighter in pocket as well........... despite the commentators enthusing about the racing I counted 3 passes for every 4 heats on average which is probably the amount a temp track should be getting anyway............. what was good was the lack of rutting and the immediate wider line some better gating from scott and bomber....... hans crept in most of his races and at least two races should have been brought back......... Crump is not of this planet ......... welcome to Cardiff Emil............ Mr Bellamy has such a sunny disposition - is he an ostrich though?.............I cant see Leigh allowing this nightmare to continue and wouldnt be suprised if he didnt finish the gp season

what a tough field .... gonna be a few disappointed faces good luck to Tai and Lewis -
haha love it well ash has certainly pulled no punches and good luck to them this is the issue though... the way the system is setup it breeds whispers because the only alternative is for someone to put their money and reputation where their mouth is............ instead of the organisers putting their money where the competitions reputation is
-
yeah its a good point and im sure that if they did force full on testing then their money saving tendencies would extend to investing into having the correct equipment onsite with someone employed to carry it out.............. I guess they first have to reach the point where the reputation of the competition is more important than £x saved...................... hopefully that wont be when a scandle comes along that they fail to keep quiet

this has interested me for a while in what sense is it working for you though? Obviously the talent that has been coming through is amazing and the system may be great for that but as you say you are losing them from the Oz tracks virtually instantly now. I know you guys have always had an issue sticking together a workable league due to the vast distances needing to be covered but has it been given up on entirely? -
he certainly has http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/ind...showtopic=47916 in fairness as i'd posted in the U21 world cup thread it is unlikely at such a late stage that 1) a tuner would be free (the man obviously has time for his nation)....... but also 2) that the riders and management could organise themselves in time Imo this is why it makes sense that between the management and sponsors these things are sorted out......and in advance........ the riders dont even know if they have been selected for the team yet so how do they know what their budget is or where to get themselves tuned up? re: the bike/carb ............. I remember this subject coming up during TRick's last championship winning season .............. and I recollect a post made by an informed person which said that there are only certain things that can be checked at the venue and the real costs come when machinery is impounded, packed up and sent off to be checked with the specialised equipment It would be easy for this subject to be put to rest indefinitely if they just started impounding 5 bikes a gp and factoring in the costs within the budget........ easy for me to say lol ......... but I dont see how the world speedway championship can expect to be taken seriously unless this kind of procedure which is normal in other motor sports is taking place

maybe the word 'denied' got in the way there then Parsloes?

yeah I guess you have a point there....... if a rider cant do it in the overseas leagues as well then it doesnt bode well for swooping in on a venue for 2 days every fortnight and doing the business I have always said that Ed has what it takes and despite his early career step backwards purely through confidence issues... he continues to make major steps forward which is all you can ask from a rider............... I have no doubts at all that Ed will get into the GP's............. I guess the question is how prepared will he be when he does -

spook replied to Edward Barrett's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I can only assume that your opinion is based on some kind of tribal feeling then blazeaway as Ed is consistently improving not only his average but also visibly as a rider I can name a lot of riders who will never be in the grand prix series but they certainly wont include guys improving and still young I actually think Ed is approaching the point where he wouldnt be out of his depth ........ however with the current system it would probably be better if he waited another year to make sure................................. its still way too early for the others though and Tai may be a prodigy but it would just be asking for it to scar him to drop him into the competition anytime soon............ not to mention that Lewis is more advanced than him this season anyway we always seem to look at the generation directly underneath though dont we? In fairness to them these arent the guys to be looking at for big things .......... the Danes didnt when they found themselves in a similar position to us....... neither did the Poles before Hampel etc came through................. they both started right from the grass roots ..... concentrating on and nurturing them through It feels like we have had a cycle of this for the last 25 years............. our national team is made up of 4 8/9 point riders with us scrabbling around for the 5th................ I am completely certain that this will continue until there is a movement at management level to sort this for the future -
I find the whole 'scotty thing' a difficult one............. I want him to do well.... I can see that he has it in him.....I clearly remember him having it in him....... although it has been a decline over the last 5 years it has only been slight.... until this season anyway gating and machinery aside his biggest issue is his on track decisions and they havent been good on the whole for a number of seasons now................ check saturdays recording and notice how despite his bikes being much more on the pace he made some glaring errors in the first couple of bends........... if his decisions had been better he could easily have been in the semi lol wish I had a squid for everytime someone has said these in the past..... as pointless today as they have ever been

spook replied to Edward Barrett's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
for me again it all comes down to the way that Leszno is setup and if there are any nasty suprises for 3 of the teams or not come final day if we are talking about a Leszno with some dirt then I think that Australia could push the Poles............ if we are talking about a gating fest then it will be between the Danes and Poles someone mentioned Darcy Ward earlier ..... and of course Batch should also be in the frame...... to some extent boycey has quite a nice problem with so many riders at his disposal who could either do a good job or could be getting nice experience ahead of their inevitable International careers -
ok i'll have a crack at this Parsloes.... but let it be known before I do that I like the GP's as a format as much as I used to like the world final and the road to it its as simple as once we had gone beyond the 20 heats and Emil wasnt declared the winner under the old rules that a tapes exclusion is a tapes exclusion....... be it in the semi or final we all know that that is that................. im not sure that I understand why once you have aknowledged the semi finals leading to final process you are saying that anyone touching a tape in the semi deserves a place in the final Imo the gp's are a much more media friendly and marketable creature and as a fan I would never criticise those running the sport for trying to make the best of those things.......... however great efforts should be made to keep the magic of the world championship, to keep fairness and integrity, and to enable any rider wishing to enter the qualification process to do so............ The qualification process is slowly expanding year on year but imo it still isnt enough.... the road to the world final was speedway's equivelant of the FA Cup........ the minnows as low as 2nd division reserves could enter and as we know on occasion the minnows did very well with guys like Carl Stonehewer going all the way........................... there were also upsets along the way with expected riders not qualifying..... the world champion not qualifying and other greats also missing out................ I believe this is possibly the biggest reason for the older riders having the competition in a stranglehold throughout this decade ....... for every season they stay in the top 8 there is another sponsor gained and more chance of keeping the best tuners amongst them............... if they were made to qualify and failed to get through theoretically it could start spreading the money around a bit more and keep the competition more fresh
-
I dont see that as an issue as it would be easy to make it known to all and sundry that Cardiff would see the start of a new and persistent policy................. Most things return to a question of money..... and I wonder whether any kind of system of sustained checks were ever factored into the budget............. i'm sure it would be tempting to save the money especially if on the surface the 'spectacle' of the competition is intact........... again for me it comes down to the integrity of the competition because it is after all of course the Speedway World Championship and the winner's name goes down next to the greats of the past............. this should imo mean that it is a priority to make sure that no chucked mud is going to stick on someone....... but also that anyone cheating wont get away with it once again the the running of the competition needs to be as professional as the presentation p.s. Scott Nicholls was one of the few riders to make a clean pass after the first couple of bends
-
I was thinking exactly the same thing Surely a GP series worth its salts should be taking random bikes away for checks after every GP anyway? Even if it is to stop rumours like this starting Its all a show for him now isnt it? He is great to watch but there is definitely a fine line with the whole wrestling routine Personally im fine with it as long as people like the race director dont join in on the act..... and nicki doesnt start doing body slams on people in the pits
-
completely agree Greg is not just a class act he is actually one of the more exciting guys and despite the false dawn in the first couple of gp's the top 6 has quite a familiar look to it with the exception of the man from mildura being replaced by Emil.... I see little difference tbh and cant see it changing by the end of the season LOL I might be wrong but I reckon even the most positive forum members will struggle to come out with superlatives after that GP haha yeah it did stand out a bit when he said that......... I would have hoped for a more honest account but the guy is obviously very happy with his lot at the moment If that is the reason for the dire tracks then yeah I agree it is a flawed approach and just as poor as the other possible reasons bandied around Well hopefully it won't become something that is left to fester as that wont do anyone any good
-
lol did I see that they had actually managed to make their blown kisses part of their routine? ...... and i'm sure one of them thought she was carrying a kalashnikov instead of a flag the way she was holding it personally i'm always disappointed when I dont see the one in red in this clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rId7i9ddb4c ...... she is enough to make anyone forget that its a passing sport

ok slightly confusing with the cross thread replying but so be it you are more than entitled to your opinion Jim and no one said you werent...... the point of the matter actually though was that I was ASKING you what your opinion is because you keep trying to hint at something while not actually saying anything........... if there is something to back any possible point of view then it may help to say it lol otherwise im not sure there is any point of view many thx for the spelling correction Jim and the correction about his 3rd world title ....... that then makes: doesnt that just make it worse? http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/ind...15&start=15
