  1. the one racing line was too narrow...... just like Prague.......... there were glimpses of an outside line but nothing to rely on getting you down the straight before your nose was chopped off yeah they did do something on Ole starting the Danish success......... but no this felt different Ashie....... at one point he mentioned Ole and said something along the lines of 'observing everything he has built' ....... and there were other references to him which seemed needless at the time............................ maybe it was just me but I felt a point was being made
  2. does anyone know if the riders are given a choice of which round to go to by their federations? if so I bet a few of these guys are wishing they had chosen Austria now
  3. thinking about it after the lack of passing tonight I should be in enough of a raging mood for a vitriolic diatribe () but tbh I just feel numb now.......... I wonder if its all a plan to make the airfence advertising more effective to us in our lobotomised states? tbh I think this is probably why some of us were kicking off after Prague and Leszno because we knew the temp tracks were coming...... and they are either rut city or slicksville...... and neither is satisfying found a couple of things interesting with the commentary tonight.......... Nigel mentioning Ole at every opportunity..... to defend the guy or to remind everyone who is responsible?? ...................................... and also Keith Heuwen kept suggesting that there was an issue with Emil's machinery
  4. it sounds like its a real grind for you to live there Dave .... I feel for you
  5. thats a real shame as he couldnt have had better experience for qualifying in the future than this meeting what a tough field! Its almost starting to resemble a real qualification system now
  6. oh hello we are on the internet and on a forum..... both have universal levels of etiquette that apply .... and anyone that posts in caps is considered to be shouting.......... I personally agree as it is unpleasant to read no idea who you are.....thanks for the words of wisdom but I think i'll rely on my long and extensive experience of the internet p.s. are you sure that was the quote you wanted to use? well I don't lol is this like the whole to refridgerate an egg or not question?
  7. well I guess we will see tomorrow if he really wants it or not........... if his competitive spirit is the same as it ever was then I cant see him being the same as the last couple of gp's......... and he will have to start mixing it up with the ruts and other riders
  8. looks like its been moved here http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/ind...p;#entry1514942
  9. think you are thinking of the previous year dave as they qualified directly last season...... but yeah it certainly isnt any kind of fool proof system...... however I think it should also be noted that team Oz were also probably at the end of their dip in that year before the youngsters started coming through ive been a bit of a sad statto again as the raceoff has always frustrated me as much as interested.......... ive always seen it as an advantage over those who qualify directly while it is held at the same venue as the final... and although home advantage pollutes the results it is quite clear to see that it does work http://docs.google.com/View?id=ddmhmf6b_22d62td7zx the summary is that - since 2001 five teams have gone on from the race off to win the thing (03,04,05,06,07) compared to three teams who have won it without coming from the race off (01,02,08) ...... (03 is a red herring though) - only once has a race off team not come in the first two (01) - the last 4 years has seen a team that qualified directly finish last in the final... the previous 4 years it was a team from the race off - Interestingly there have only been 3 home final wins.... but 3 of the 5 of those winning on foreign soil won in Britain (doh!) - and perhaps more importantly only 3 teams could be described as embarrasing themselves in the final ..... two of those qualified directly (Oz 08, GB 07) .. one from the race off (PL 04) courtesy of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speedway_World_Cup so like I said there is nothing foolproof at all but supposing GB did make it through from the race off ...history dictates that only one team over the last 9 years has managed to have a disaster in the final after coming from the raceoff.... which leaves the question of .......one of the 'big 5' wont make it to the final should we be bothered enough about that to try to qualify direct? personally with the youngsters i'd say no ............... but then again like I said in another thread if I was GB manager they would be replacing me at the next AGM because I dont believe that kind of reality check would go down well re: Scotty ...... I was incorrect with my earlier comments ... after looking through these http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/ind...showtopic=48634 .......... Scott is clearly on paper still our number 2 ................... but I still wouldnt put someone despairing and in a funk in the team...... especially if its about youth
  10. it isnt defeatest ... it is realistic.....the chances of us winning are low ...and for it to be a positive campaign that needs to be understood so that the same team can go out in 2 years time and win the thing.......... do you really want a performance from us like the last two finals? ..... Those performances stemmed from the fact that we qualified directly..... ie we missed the opportunity to get the bikes setup in the race off..... this also directly ties in with the overall 'team budget' .... as the more shoestring a team is the more something like this is going to contrast and we all know practice is useless for setting up bikes at this level I see no point in Tai, Ed, and Lewis suffering a excruciating embarrasment in the final because we tried to qualify from the EOES
  11. I am sure there have been lots of speedway fans in the past who have wanted him out purely based on some of the inexcusable shocking decisions he has made................... but this is the point Lis...... we are talking about the decision at Gothenburg in terms of him being replaced for Parken.......................... quite simply it was not a shocking decision...... it was a difficult decision that he had to make and could have gone either way I'm all for listening to conspiracy theories although I also like them to be backed up with some facts, stats and %'s ....... and in this case the %'s of this happening due to a decision that wasnt completely outrageous are all wrong............... yes i'm afraid this does point to shady goings on but not in the direction you want Lis
  12. any idea if the grapevine has worked in this instance Trees?
  13. the more people like Kelvin talk about trying to go through from the EOES the more I get worried.................. obviously we want to get to the final but I think the only way we should attempt to is from the race off as at least we will have the bikes setup for the final then I would prefer us to go out fighting at the race off than being slaughtered in the final because of setup once again........... and if this year is about the youngsters then i'd suggest that was the most sensible for the experience they will gain as well
  14. sorry Lis I am missing your point? you are saying he was replaced because he is the son of the FIM vice president? or that he had the job in the first place because of this? the first is no reason to remove him and the second has nothing to do with his performance in the Swedish GP
  15. am I wrong in thinking these kind of checks referred to in the last post would require specialised machinery that would not be on site at the gp's? ...... and that it would require the bikes to be taken away at cost, checked at cost and redelivered at cost.......... while no doubt gaining grief from the rider in question ????? It would be extremely interesting to find out an honest account of the process from start to finish politics and all
  16. 100% agree with that lineup .... 50% because it is currently the most consistently strong lineup we have ....... and 50% because it isnt but this is the only way to bring on the youngsters quickly in a short amount of time I cannot decide if Scott is in the top 5 on form as of right or not........ but if he is then he is scraping it and I think just on that basis and on the basis of these pits images of despair increasing .... it is a good excuse for money to really be put where the mouth is and to make this year about the youngsters....... and for it to be meant when it is said
  17. thanks muchly for the updates Sandie gutted about Tai but I guess its still early days for him......
  18. so... i'm very confused now... not over who is copying whom...... but over where the updates actually are!....... ive tried all the links in this thread and im finding nothing....... can someone please post a link to somewhere that definitely has them please?
  19. when we boil down this odd discussion..........do you realise that you have backed the removal of a ref who had to make a borderline decision because Ole 'has obviously sat down with Nicki and listened to his complaint'?? you obviously have a huge issue with the ref... and tbh I cant blame you there as he has made some shocking decisions in the past ... but at the end of the day we are not talking about those decisions now... we are talking about the one with Emil .............. and we are talking about the people running this competition yet again making a ripe stink................ i'm suprised anyone would be happy to look the other way or worse back behaviour from the competition organisers like this
  20. with the greatest of respect Iris it really has got a bit silly now lol the decision was a hard one ... I am certain that we would have had mixed results from all referees...................... NickiP quite frankly would blame someone else if his shoelace came undone...even if he knew it was his fault!................ If Ole is happy for every rider to approach him so he can mop up their tears then I guess that there is nothing wrong with a rider approaching but you do know what people are saying here ............. and on paper this looks very wrong........this looks like between Nicki and Ole they have had the ref removed from the next GP because of a decision which unlike in the past (when he wasnt removed lol) was at worst borderline....... you talked before about Pedersen's profession being at stake..... does that not apply for the refs as well?
  21. lol this is becoming more and more strange by the post the bottom line surely is that a referee's decision is final .... and that the sport should do its upmost to remain professional at all times I have no issue with NP, JC, ES or any of the riders being annoyed with a decision and sounding off at the camera..... some of them are quite entertaining when they do it ....... however there should still be a level of respect reserved for the refs and if there isnt fines should follow the most important thing here is what has followed after though.......... did a combination of Nicki and Ole really replace the ref for the next GP? If so that is completely outrageous and wholly unprofessional................ tbh i'm not a great fan of the ref as he has made some odd decisions in the past.......... this just highlights things even more in this case though when the decision was a close one are we talking about the incident at the last GP now or something from a previous season? and where is the ref quoted as indicating this? I think thats a very bold statement thinking about things if I was Grodzki I wouldnt like Pedersen too much after the way he has been spoken to and insulted
