now why doesnt that suprise me?

excuse you indeed lol perish the thought that you would start, angle for, or continue the discussion surely there must be better sites for you to argue about it....... or discuss it with like minded people? http://www.uepengland.com/bbs/index.php?act=idx http://www.scottishunionist.com/ http://www.scottishindependenceconvention.com/ hours of fun surely?

but this is the trouble isnt it? In Denmark you wouldnt just be given the green light for some friendly internationals for the kids .......you would find yourself with a budget bigger than youd know what to do with and the authorities bending over backwards to accomodate the extra fixtures In Britain it would centre around a congested fixture list and just how much a promoter is willing to risk injury to his valuable rider.............. and we all know the answer to that one........ It is no suprise for me that our national teams struggle financially when the authorities themselves have shown for far too long that they just dont care ..... if they dont care why should sponsors? why should the riders? Someone has said that Rob Lyon is looking into arranging some friendly fixtures...... well *newsflash* its practically July....... any particular reason for leaving it what is almost certainly impossibly late? I truly hope that this decision indicates that Rob Lyon has some backing behind him on this one and that the promoters are serious about a positive future ......because like most things they rule on this cannot be allowed to be a decision made on a whim and instead be the start of a more solid plan that is backed up at league level

snapper bobbin along methinks you grabbed the bait like I said before Snyper i'm sure there are more suitable sites for your political opinions ....
-
based on what? on an average vs age basis I'd say that he is still looking good.... as I said earlier what I would like to see him achieve is a couple of consecutive seasons showing improvement rather than one every two years Ken Bear didnt exactly look on course a few years ago after the previous few years of treading water on the same average and yet the Danes put the effort in and lo and behold not only is he a genuine GP rider, a genuine member of the SWC team but also a genuine heat leader in all 3 leagues In fact the Danes are quite a good example here arent they? It wasnt so long ago that they found themselves in a similar position and had to work hard at bringing through a new crop of guys ............ just as the Poles did............. some guys dont make it and some do...... maybe King wont...... or maybe he will and Tai won't???
-
why not put in some 15 year olds? reckon we are getting a bit silly now who says Danny King won't make it? Is he still not young? and especially for the Elite League? His progress has been slower than expected as I was suggesting in earlier posts but that does not mean that he wont get there or indeed that he is running out of time..... whereas a couple of the other squad members are I notice you missed Ed out there as well and yet there we have a guy who improves year on year and has moved up to a genuine level of quality now......................... I suspect that boring tribal nonsense is being mixed up here
-
Its almost as if some people are taking this as a slur on behalf of both riders................... dont you think that they would have appreciated a better strength in depth squad when they were at their peak? As a speedway nation we cannot continue going into every SWC with three flaky 9 pointers (incl bp's) an 8 ....and a 7................and yes that isnt even across all 3 leagues is it? Just the British League.............. im glad that finally someone has had the nuts to compare that to what the Aussies, Danes, Poles and Swedes are able to muster up across all 3 leagues ....and to finally try to do something about it before we are matched by the Russians and Germans the best way to change that is to take a step back when we have a promising crop of kids ... and to give them as much experience of what is expected at the highest level as possible............ by next season we will have that much more experience in the squad with both Rico and Scott hopefully on top of their game
-
imo it makes no sense for a rider to be seeded to the final of the world championship qualifying final and i'd be suprised if it is the case From what was posted on here the difference between the FIM suggestions and IMG's selections were Bomber and Zagar......... it certainly highlighted how important IMG felt it was to have two Brits.............. I really wouldnt be suprised if another square block in a round hole is forced to make sure there are two again for next season
-
good job you dont need to worry about our leagues then Iris .... although i'm sure Hefenbrock and Smolinski have probably done well out of them
-
whats that? say that it will be about the youngsters but then just field the team that picked itself anyway? I think some of you wouldnt be happy no matter what he had done...... either that or you would have been only too ready to rip it out of the team after our supposed best 5 riders had inevitably had their weaknesses shown and exploited................ can you still remember that sinking feeling from 2 years ago? (edit: and thats when we made it to the final!)
-
lmao he cant win can he? are you seriously saying that keeping the core of the team that has failed so abysmally for the last few years and so obviously has little chance of winning the competition overall is more important than drawing a line in the sand and making attempts to change the usual pattern of things?........... heres a reminder that the GB team has been in dire straights for something like 2 decades now lol..... we have not have the strength in depth and we havent had a giant to lead the team............. the only way to change that is to build for the future .................... Rob Lyon is most certainly my new hero and this is one very canny decision....... it 1) makes sure that all of our youngsters gain much needed experience and 2) almost certainly forces us to the race off which is the only way that our guys have a chance of being set up correctly for the final and not suffering in the same way that they did 2 years ago my only reservation is that by replacing Rico as well there is a stronger chance of us not making the race off if things go pear shaped on the night .....but this line up should be able to manage it comfortably top marks to those behind the decision and I hope they are willing to continue the momentum at league level and tighten the rules to encourage our guys to flourish rather than youngsters from other nations getting more benefit
-
yeah good point ..............although the difference is that Emil is seemingly going nowhere for some time other than in the top 8 if his career continues in the same vein............ that has never been the case with the Czechs and was only the case with Zagar for a fleeting season and if Matej continues the way he is going this season it will be difficult for IMG to say no to the FIM
-
im thinking you dont understand my point Ghostwalker..... why have you focussed on Harris? Theres Rico and Scott much older than Bomber.......... Despite the fact that Bomber has been riding at world level for the last couple of seasons and before that had year on year vast improvement...... in terms of building for the future ...Bomber is very much part of the future........... and lets face it on paper far more than Danny King until he starts stringing some seasons together dont get me wrong I like Danny..... he is a pocket rocket with a good attitude on and off track who has all the ingredients to make it to the highest level ...... all I am saying is that IF something is about to happen like Rico or Scott not being picked in favour of the youngsters grabbing some experience then the opportunities have to be given to guys who are odds on to be making it to the highest level ....as much as anyone can be sure of imo we have to make sure that we not only dont qualify directly but also make it to the race off ........... being in the race off is key not only for experience but also for setup in the final if we made it that far.......... qualifying directly or going out at the first hurdle would both be disasters
-
I would leave him out as well He may be having a good season but either we are building for the future or we arent and Danny has a horrible habit of 2 steps forward 1 step back......... I truly hope that he can build on this season and have a better one next season but I think it is fair to say that based on past seasons he is now expected to drop his average next season or possibly maintain it It is the same reason I wouldnt consider Simon or Ollie because although in the grand scheme of things they are hardly old and guys like Bjerre have clicked at their age .... history dictates that they havent been improving quickly enough to be deemed the future of the GB team Tai, Ed and Lewis with the exception of a difficult season each for Ed and Lewis have season upon season had good improvement and continue to do so If Rob does drop Scott then he will become a new hero for me for admirably being one of the few sticking their neck out and making the statement that something has to change ....... admirable doesnt go down well at BSPA HQ usually though... if it did then they would be tightening up the assessed average and asset rules

thankfully I dont know who Michael Buffer is but yeah that would most definitely grate ... on the adults anyway -
I think the root of all Nicki's issues this season has been the drop in performance of his machinery.... and he is picking up most of his points when he gates like stink.......... I dont think im incorrect when I say that he has been overtaken more times than he has overtaken ................ so if his machinery doesnt improve and the tracks do become more geared towards racing then I can only see the situation worsening for him imo the best thing he can do is just accept his lot for this season with good grace...... stop blaming refs ... stop blaming other riders... start riding the track rather than the man...... and to work hard on gaining the best machinery for next season The permanent wildcards are going to be very interesting come the end of the season ...... the introduction of a russian has meant one of the bigger nations gets less of a 'quota' already ............. with 3 poles in danger of not finishing in the top 8 it gives Jarek Hampel a well overdue chance of a permanent card unless 2 or 3 Poles come through from the qualifiers..............only 2 swedes currently in must mean that Lindback is in a good position for a permanent card.............. Holder cannot be ignored whether Leigh stays in or goes out............. and unless the 3 current Danes all qualify as of right then there will possibly be a card or two for them as well with Bjarne and Niels wanting back in what cant happen though is one each for GB, Oz, Poland, Sweden and Denmark...... let alone Zagar who the FIM proposed to IMG for this season

being the spreadsheet trainspotter that I am now with the gp's I counnt the passes due to the premium that they are at this season and Saturday wasnt actually that great in terms of passing after the 2nd bend lap 1.... I think we had on average a pass in 3 out of 4 races which is as much as you can expect from a temporary track what was good about the track imo though was the lack of ruts and the wider line right from heat 1 which is so rarely seen in the gp's................ I dont necessarily think it is great if the riders are close to each other race after race as it usually means the chances for passing at at a minimum but it does at least show that the riders are happy on the track and trust its behaviour............ I hope that the guys at IMG appreciate what has happened this weekend as it has seriously improved the reputation of the racing at Cardiff which can only mean more bums on seats for their flagship cashcow do you think this should necessarily be the case on the permanent tracks though FTM? IMO the level of passing has sunk to an all time low over the last year and has come after several years of decreasing action

sadly before this it seemed he was getting stick simply for things like.... being given wildcards..... never winning a GP..... remaining the same standard within the gp's I dont understand the attitude either......... as fans we can all get frustrated by shouting for a guy who we know doesnt gate well and hasnt had great machinery for a few years now but he is who he is and before this season he was always in the top 9 in the world despite ever slickening tracks......... I dont see that as any reason to have a go and ive thought for a long time that some of the professional Nicholls knockers need to get things into perspective....... either he has been riding to his natural standard or he hasnt (until this season of course) If they need to blame anyone for their frustrations then they need to blame the riders who didnt come through to knock Scott off his perch........... and if thats unfair then blame the promoters who have been too busy bringing through Danish Aussie and Swedish riders due to their free asset registration status and low assessed averages After Jenn's post i'm thinking well done Scott and Emil because in a few minutes of madness over hard racing that was 'soft' for guys like Olsen, Neilsen, Briggo etc they have managed to bring speedway to more new people in a way that will make them sit up and take notice than IMG and the BSPA combined over the last year..................... it could well be a new twist to anything we have been used to with speedway but ive been saying for a while that the wrestling approach would get bums on seats...... controversy works.. ask Ian Thomas -
no I meant Ole's job! ..... I know you probably cant comment but it would make a nice change to have someone in that position who will allow the track staff to do the job that should be done

well I hate to say it but that is publicity that you cannot buy............. that is the kind of thing that gains fans edit: lol FSP -
ok so hopefully this wont get swallowed up by the many Cardiff threads but we are as close to the halfway point of the season as we can be and patterns are starting to emerge Its looking like this season will be no different to other recent seasons and we have a breakaway top 7 ....even if a couple of them are new faces we now have 6 permenant tracks remaining with undoubted pressure on Ole and trackstaff to serve up some tracks for racing rather than just gating so do we think that top 7 will qualify come the end of the season? who will be the 8th placed rider? and just as an extra which 3 of the qualifiers would you like to see in the GP's next season? semi final draws here http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/ind...showtopic=49109 I would ask the question of who currently in the field will gain a permanent wildcard but we know that depends on how many of their countrymen qualify personally I think Jason, Emil, Greg, and Tomasz will pull away with Tomasz a real threat for Emil if we are about to see some grippy tracks appear .......... NickiP will lose ground but cement top 8 easily........... Jonsson and Lindgren should continue to do enough but there are question marks over their consistency i'm going to discount Nicholls and Walasek.... Ulamek and Bjerre because their gating will probably not count for as much now..... Holta because although his bikes are fast he does not have the skill of the others....... Harris because unless he gates like at Cardiff he will always find himself 3rd or 4th coming out of bend 2............ which leaves Adams and Andersen........... so i'm going to go for Andersen because although form is temporary and class is permanent I think something has gone with Leigh.... hopefully he will prove me wrong........ tbh I think either of these would be offered a WC anyway.... whether Leigh would accept one is a different matter and from the GP qualifiers I'd like to see Bomber make it through but a more realistic 3 who would give something to the competition be Hampel, Holder and Lindback............... I hope we dont gain what are likely to be whipping boys but in saying that Ulamek and even Walasek at times have had a good showing so far

sorry but it wasnt the same incident.... it was bend 1 not bend 2.... they were entering a bend not exiting...... I agree that the decision was incorrect but that kind of incident is seen every match and meeting and should nearly always result in a restaging with all riders however I would like to point out that Hans did turn later going into the bend and that was possibly the reason for the incident... strange bike?..... intentional?....who knows but it still should have been all riders back -

how often am I making out that he does? I am saying that you would have to be blind to not recognise that this is in his repertoire..... and that it is closely related to his riding the man habits and sometimes dubious square bends......... they all centre around what the other riders are doing and how he can trump/bully/exploit them and that of course involves making the most of the gaps inbetween the rules.......................... as ive just said though I think he loses out of it more than he gains over a period of time ........ when you become distracted from the fast line .... start opening gaps on the inside because you are obsessed with taking rider X wide on bend 2 ... the plot is starting to be lost are you seriously saying that he didnt make a dogs dinner of coming off his bike? (any youtube footage?) im just repeating myself here but while the rules are set up the way they are then the rules are the rules but no one likes darkside tactics in football so its very unlikely that they will go down well in speedway............. which may well explain for you why some of Hans decisions over time have created animosity towards him..... and I think judging by general feeling this will be added to the catalogue........ -
Hans Anderson
spook replied to chapel_end_bees's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
bad? thats quite a general word... what do you mean? are you saying that he isnt one of the few riders in the series who specifically and consistently look for incidents such as these and to exploit the way the rules are set? -
Hans Anderson
spook replied to chapel_end_bees's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
the point was that what I posted about Hans part of the incident was not hard.... and that Hans is one of a few riders who not only 'try to get what they can from' incidents..... but they have actually made it part of their repertoire this I believe is why so many people think that the decision was wrong because he made it too obvious that this was one of those times ................... no matter who is who's favourite rider this kind of 'skill' is not widely supported......... it is after all no better than a footballer who leaps into a swan dive after an opponent caught his ankle........ unnecessary but trying to leave the ref in no position other than to give a foul............................ the strange thing when it is applied in speedway though is that it actually clouds the issue and can go the other way Imo this is something mostly exercised by the Danes and i'm not sure if it is part of their famed teaching or just something that has caught on amongst some of them but I believe if anything it gets them focussing on the wrong things and they start riding the man instead of the track...... Hans has particularly been like a moth to a flame with this over the years and his best GP season was when he seemingly stopped doing it...................... NickiP has started doing it this season and the results are there to be seen..... plenty of incidents and he is losing points as a result
