  1. Shouldn't be necessary though should it!!! One of the most successful teams tried NL last year - Poole - and didn't continue this year as it wasn't cost effective, well guys it's up to you the fans, if you want NL racing to survive, you have to go out and support it. Not an easy thing to do in the current climate I know, but these promoters are trying to kick start the British scene but financially it isn't balancing the books I'm sorry I haven't a clue as to the fan base at Newport, but as I said Poole, with their large fan base couldn't make it pay, mind it will be a real shame for this to happen if it does, through lack of support. Good luck Hornets
  2. Thanks for the info, I always have to record the GP and watch it about an hour behind, so forwarned is forearmed this time, many thanks
  3. Sounds like it was a really good meeting, well done Mildy!!!
  4. Chris Louis talking on Radio Suffolk tonight about Mildenhall: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/console/p00dc5vw/Stephen_Foster_08_02_2011 go to 1.37
  5. Wow that's wonderful news so pleased for all at Mildenhall, and I have to say very, very pleased with the link up with the Witches, at last a chance for some youngsters to get on. Fingers crossed in the court case too!!!
  6. And Jarek has his say: taken from Lovespeedway.com: Hampel hits out at Polish authorities Thursday, February 3, 2011 3:36 PM FORMER Ipswich star and world No.2 Jaroslaw Hampel says Polish Ekstraliga clubs are making a big mistake in restricting teams to just one Grand Prix rider in 2012. FORMER Ipswich star and world No.2 Jaroslaw Hampel says Polish Ekstraliga clubs are making a big mistake in restricting teams to just one Grand Prix rider in 2012. There are plans to expand the top flight from eight to ten sides next term and it is reported that every club will have to track four Poles. Should the new rules come into force, champions Leszno would have to choose between Hampel and Janusz Kolodziej if both men retain their places in the World Championship for next year. With five SGP regulars guaranteed to miss out on Ekstraliga team berths, Hampel has hit out at the changes. He said: “It’s unfair to my club, which has a plan, a long-term vision of the team. This may be meaningless now.” Hampel added: “I do not know what this rule is intended to do. Is it to make savings at the club? It’s not the way to do it. These are the riders fans are passionate about. “I believe that last season’s league was pretty balanced and unpredictable. Even if the 2012 season will see ten teams in the Ekstraliga, it means that the five Speedway Grand Prix riders will not be able to compete in it.” speedwaygp.com
  7. It's looking more and more likely that you are going EL, which is a big blow to us Witches fans who were really looking forward to some friendly rivalry and local derbies in the season ahead. I would like to wish you all, and your team all the best should it be confirmed tomorrow, because I'm sorry folks but you are going to need it!!! With 9 teams in the EL it was boring to say the least, weeks without meetings, teams with riders missing, and the blanket coverage of certain teams on the TV on Monday nights, made you feel like you had been watching those teams versus your team 9 or 10 times a season , so with one less this coming season OMG what fillers you will need Still you will hopefully have your NL team to ride the weeks you have no meetings, and obviously you will have the WTC. Good luck in the year ahead.
  8. Elvin wrote the article, is all I was trying to point out. Don't think Magda has any "friends" actually
  9. Well, not only is she Tomasz' friend, but also Elvin's and his wife
  10. Heart says.....Sweden and Russia Head says......Sweden and Denmark (but only just)
  11. Think they have been on the race bibs for ALL the GP's so far
  12. And whilst we are at it, is Mark Webber, Keith Huwen's love child or something, how many times did he keep going on and on and on about him being there, and chartering a plane to support Jason zzzzzzzzzzzz
  13. And here's the article: TRACK ACE TOMASZ TOPS £1M ABOVE: Poland skipper Tomasz Gollob is the first rider to break through the £1m-a-year pay barrier 3rd February 2010 By Peter OakesYour Shout ( 0 ) POLAND skipper Tomasz Gollob is the first rider to break through the £1m-a-year pay barrier. The World Cup hero has not raced in Britain since turning out for Ipswich in 2000. But he’s still rated the highest-paid racer in the world with annual wages last season of £1,038,121. The figure is based on official on-track earnings in Poland and Sweden but doesn’t take into account his sponsorship deals. Gollob, 38, is ranked as the ninth highest-paid sportsman in Poland, with F1 ace Robert Kubica No.1 on £3,661,000. Gollob has been a national hero for more than a decade and finished runner-up in last year’s world championship. Australian world champion Jason Crump, 34, and Danish rival Nicki Pedersen, 32, are believed to earn in excess of £500,000 a season. taken from Daily Star
  14. For some people it's not convenient to watch at 6 o/c in the evening, so we sky+ it to watch it when it is convenient, and being one of those that had to sky+ the first meeting with the red button, sadly it wasn't until late on the Sunday evening that I found I only had 16 heats and by then it was too late to record the later showings. The last GP I was working at Blenheim Horse Trials so once again had to rely on Sky+, luckily my son realised it was only programmed for 1 hour, so recorded the Sunday morning showing. The Italian GP is on Sky Sports Xtra at 7 o/c and seems to be on for 3 hours, and once again I will be Sky+ as it's ITFC v Newcastle at 5.30 on BBC as well, so will see if it goes interactive again tomorrow. At least when you sky+ you can fast forward all the boring inane talking that goes on, snd even some of the racing
  15. Whilst I agree that Zorro qualified by right, how will he enhance the GP's , at least Scott and Bomber are heat leaders

  17. I felt he went down like a girl . However you are right, he'd been stuffed going into the corner, was out of control and Bomber only clipped his front wheel, but it was enough for him to attempt his swan dive....more like Ugly Duckling though, it was so obvious, but it was enough to get Bomber excluded, and yes Nicki should not have been excluded.
  18. Can anyone tell me how Danny King got on please?, I see Tobi Kroner was 7th. Many thanks
  19. That's going to be a bit difficult for 4 of us from Ipswich, as ours have been arranged through the supporters club
  20. Hopefully he won't have a choice, and perhaps he will retire gracefully, sooner rather than later
  21. Can I add my voice to the coming up to tapes music....what was that all about, 3 tunes intros all played at the same time , just need a fanfare of some sort, then at least if you had snuck off to the loo or to get drinks, food, you could at least identify when the next race was about to start....just my opinion you understand. Also can't stand those cheesy, Wonderful Copenhagen, Wizard of Oz type themes, but I think the Land of Hope and Glory and Rule Britannia bit when all the crowd (of Brits) were waving their flags in time to the music was brilliant.
