An enjoyable evening, despite its flaws! Exciting riding from Jensen and Perks, in particular, kept it entertaining. Swindon looked good, but Ipswich were hopeless. How did this team nearly win at Blunsdon last month yet be so bad tonight? Their riders often pulled out of the race when at the back. Too many starts pulled back for me. Surely fast starts like the ones from Musielak and Pieszczek are better left as they are rather than constant restarts. If anyone was keeping an eye on averages tonight, though, I'd say it wasn't Ipswich but Jason Doyle. No idea why Ipswich used Harris as a ts when it was clear that Danny King was the only top 5 Ipswich rider giving Swindon anything to think about up to that point. Did they, perhaps, think they couldn't use King as he'd had an r/r ride? Vissing impressed from reserve and was given a well deserved man of the match. Can't see this Witches side staying in the top four. Wolves look much more threatening. Maybe we should have let Ipswich get a point!

Rosco steps down as GB bossGrachan replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup I did notice when he was presenting the Grand Prix he said that he would be supporting Jason Doyle, with no mention of Tai.

Martin Ashby always wore a fairly unusual one. I remember Trevor Hedge used to wear the same one, but not sure if anyone else did.

Rosco steps down as GB bossGrachan replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup I think the big mistake Rosco always makes is reading all the online abuse, taking it to heart, and commenting on it. I wouldn't be surprised if he, at least partly, feels he doesn't need that any more and it had a bearing in his decision. Good candidate to take over? Anyone? Woffinden as rider/manager perhaps?

Cook, Vissing and Kennett banned.Grachan replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League Could be Martin Dugard, who marched up to Stefan Andersson in the pits during a Sky match and flattened him. https://www.oxfordmail.co.uk/news/6635570.ex-cheetah-dugard-in-trouble-after-tv-punch/

Worth pointing out that the rugby team have moved out due to the high financial cost of playing at Odsal. Would Speedway be financially viable?

Ipswich wait until the match is all but lost, then use their tac sub against Doyle and Batchelor. Good tactics!

How come Vissing can't ride? Cook is appealing against his ban and can ride for King's Lynn. Vissing appealed too, but was told he couldn't.

Tai / Rosco - Team GB 2020Grachan replied to TheReturn's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup If ther British Final had riders of that standard in it then it would be more worth Tai riding in it. The meeting is an event filled with second division riders and is a qualifier for a wild card in a world championship meeting for which Tai has already qualified. Surely it is better to have a meeting where the winner qualifies, rather than whoever is second. The meeting itself was better for not having a world champion wiping the floor with everyone.

Eastbourne v Glasgow Semi FinalGrachan replied to Hunters's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway I didn't say that. Gavan said it. I just quoted his post. Personally I've no idea what was said over the mic so have no opinion on it.

Eastbourne v Glasgow Semi FinalGrachan replied to Hunters's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway I'm sure the Glasgow number 6 is laughing under his helmet when he turns to camera while everyone else is piling on top of each other.

Eastbourne v Glasgow Semi FinalGrachan replied to Hunters's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway Oh those Dugards! It was always them in the thick of it when Swindon and Oxford used to have barneys, although I don't remember Paul getting involved back then - more Martin and Bob. Paul always seemed the more sensible one. I'm just surprised that Paul Dugard isn't still 16 years old!

Eastbourne v Glasgow Semi FinalGrachan replied to Hunters's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway Is that Paul Dugard who confronts Cook full on after the shove with the flag marshall? In my opinion, that is the person who was really responsible for this all kicking off. The flag marshall was in the wrong, in my opinion, alnd walked in Cook's way, but he sensibly walked away after Cook shoved him, so deserves some credit for that. It could have all ended at that point were it not for the confrontation of Cook.

Eastbourne v Glasgow Semi FinalGrachan replied to Hunters's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway Just seen a video of this incident on Twitter. I would say the Marshall was at fault here. He is walking towards Cook. Cook then looks to be going to his left - possibly to go into the pits? - and the marshall steps in front of him causing the collision between himself and the rider. Cook was wrong to react the way he did, though, but you can understand him being annoyed. Last time I looked at this topic I think it had 2 pages! Let's have a bit of a barny more often I say!

Surely if the points limit was 38 at the start of the year then the would have evened out to around 42 once the season started. So, if the limit is now at 40 for changes, that is weaker than at the start of the year.

Swindon v Belle Vue Premiership Thursday 25/07/2019Grachan replied to Steve0's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League I don't think the fixture list helps. Last week we had Wolves. Our next opponents? Wolves again. The same thing happened with King's Lynn. People don't all go every week. A lot of people probably look at the opponents and make a decision based on that. Attractive opponents, good weather and school holidays probably boosted the crowd last night.
