Redcar v Leicester Semi final
Paulco replied to johnyson66's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Can a side in the play offs use a guest which has been used previously by another side in the play offs ? -
The politics is the biggest turn off for many of us . Still the best sporting spectacle when it's done properly , which compensates for the few who strangle the sport with self interest .
-
Sorry we got bogged down in the discussion whether having a big hitter at number 1 brought any increase in attendances and was it financially viable . Whether that is the case or not , I bet a huge percentage of the Monarchs faithful will have Masters down as the first name they wanted in their 2020 septet , financially viable or not .
-
Tuesdays were always going to be poor crowds , that had nothing to do with who was riding at number 1
-
Ok how much did the Workington crowd dwindle once Stoney hung up his kevlars ? I know from my own eyes that the crowds at Glasgow were healthier watching number ones like Parker and Cook than they were with Kevin Wolbert impersonating a number 1
-
Cant put an exact figure on it , but most meetings ( outwith the Tuesday night ones we were forced to do ) I would say possibly nearly double
-
Talking out your arse again Jenga old boy . Of course having a big hitter at number 1 pulls in more bodies to the track . Masters , Cook , King etc , our league would be a far poorer place without that calibre of rider
-
Yes you do , you canny fool us . And an obsession with Glasgow is perfectly understandable , because as I've said before - there are two types of speedway fan . Those who support Glasgow and those who wished they supported Glasgow . So you can deny it all you want , having a Tigers fixation is healthy and doesn't make you a bad person.

Maybe they're an acquired taste , but I loved them

Back from my first Torun experience and I had the time of my life . Lovely city , amazing stadium , brilliant GP and cheap beer . Also I loved the sausages at the stadium too . Roll on next year

2019 championship riders of the year.
Paulco replied to ProudtobeaBrummie's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Were many of us convinced Rasser was going to be the rider he has been for us ? No we weren't . Were we wrong ? Absolutely we were . Are we glad we've been proved wrong ? You better believe it . Anyway . Glasgow rider of the year - RASSER . Best against us at the citadel of speed - Jake Allen Most surprising against us - as some of my brothers and sisters in arms have said - Anders Rowe -
Oh dear oh dear lol

Somerset & Glasgow Semi Final Second Leg 2/10/19
Paulco replied to Dickie Head's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Thrilled we've made the final . The updates were pretty biased , though it seems the ref in both meetings were happy to let things go at the starts . Personally if a rider doesn't break the tapes then all is good if he makes a good start . Leicester or Redcar to come , I'm really not bothered which one it is -

Glasgow v Somerset, play off 1st leg 27/9/19 @19-30

Everyone in the stadium , bar Michael Breckon , saw that too . As many have said , cracking meeting tonight . Didn't think we were going to get anything like a defendable lead for most of the meeting , but we upped our game after the interval as the Somerset heat leaders faded . Some ropey looking starts , from both sides , were allowed to go unpunished before he pulled Chris Harris , of all people , back late on . I thought the Somerset bottom end would struggle , and the reserves did , but Anders Rowe did anything but struggle . Those saying Kyle Bickley should have had more rides , I can sort of see your point , but although he outscored Bailey , Bailey was the more aggressive of the pair as Bickley was easily passed by Rowe in heat 8 . And we could only replace Andersen the once . Will a twelve point lead be enough ? Very possibly the way Rasser and Cookie go down there , but it's play off speedway and anything can happen . -

Cookie wins heat 1 and MBA beats Rowe , and our two reserves 5-1 theirs in heat 2 , that's a good springboard -
Somerset & Glasgow Semi Final Second Leg 2/10/19
Paulco replied to Dickie Head's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I cant recall any meeting this season , and I think I watch Cook race more than you , where Craig has received a ref warning for a starting offense. If Craig is guilty of rolling I'm sure at least one ref will have noticed since April . -
Somerset & Glasgow Semi Final Second Leg 2/10/19

Belle Vue I would imagine He was scoring well earlier in the season , then Bailey arrived and has progressed at a rate of knots and is now ahead of him , which seems to have had a negative effect on Kyle -
Somerset & Glasgow Semi Final Second Leg 2/10/19
Paulco replied to Dickie Head's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Think we caught Somerset cold when we won there earlier in the season , as that was the first meeting with their revamped side . But I think we can keep things close enough to take the tie over the two legs . A lot depends on the lower order of both sides . Anders Rowe has done ok at home riding at 2 , Stoneman has improved , but Luke Harris seems to find the going at CL level hard going . Whereas for us , Connor Bailey gets better by the week and is starting to take the scalps of more experienced riders , Sam Jensen has undoubted potential , but is still at the stage of falling while trying too hard . Andersen is nothing special , while Bickley can gate but lacks the pace for four laps away from Ashfield . Its is still a bit of a concern that at the end of his second season he still hasn't reached a four point average despite all the hype surrounding him when he turned 16 . He still has time on his side though . Cook and Jensen are as good as any visiting riders round the Oak Tree Arena , while Vissing is capable of steady support . Schlein , Harris , Covatti and Morris have their work cut out to get the better of the clashes amongst the heat leaders -
We weren't too bad on the home straight , there was this mad Russian woman behind us screaming EMEEEEEEEEEL , every time he was in a heat . That at least stopped me trying to stifle the yawns . Compared to the Pairs the night before , this was seriously dull . Cardiff is a great city and the atmosphere on the day is amazing . But the quality of the racing on Saturday night was as dull as dish water.
