Edinburgh vs Glasgow 5/4/24
Paulco replied to JanAndersen's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
It's banter , it's what adds a bit of fun to the Scottish derbies -
And at Berwick , Peter Waite never signed a rider until February some seasons
-
I'm sure the 7th signing whoever that may be will complete a competitive championship side to grace that wonderful track . I went three times last season and really enjoyed it there . Can't wait to see Bomber and Cook going head to head this coming season
-
Oh dear lol
-
Yes congratulations. But is pages after pages of the smug " I know something you don't know " really that interesting ?
-
Both capable riders in this grade who will command an average between 7 and 8
-
What might help crowd levels is that I dont see too many away wins with clubs carrying a long tail .
-
To be honest looking at all the sides , the season doesn't fill me with excitement due to the reduction in the points limit . Maybe we've been spoiled this past few years , but the aftermath of dropping to 38 points is there for all to see . Anyway as for who does what , I think the play off places will come down to Redcar , Poole and two from four between Glasgow , Scunthorpe , Oxford and Berwick . Redcar look strongest . Bailey, Edwards and Mulford can all kick on and up their averages . Poole's top 4 will ensure no home defeats and could pick up something on the road against the weaker sides . Glasgow have probably the strongest heat leader trio and their season depends on Pearson translating his Aussie form back here to back them up . Oxford have swapped Kerr for a two pointer , but Jenkins could easily make the necessary progress to back up Masters and Nichols . Berwick look pretty solid throughout without having a real big hitter , but that could be the way to go . As for the other three . Can Cook and Batchelor remain focused enough to spearhead the Comets ? Edinburgh have the entertaining and talented Pickering , but rely on most of the same faces that flopped last year . And Plymouth .....well. Covatti isn't a number 1 not even in a watered down league and can Barker stay out of trouble ?
-
He was probably the best available on that sort of average out of what was left . You can look at it positively, you have two ex-GP regulars spearheading the side in a watered down league .
-
Ah but you have Stewart Dickson, now in charge ,who loves swapping them around
-
Looking at the sides assembled so far , I dont think there will be too many away wins
-
Good draw for us . Our number 1 will have both legs on his home track . Yes I know only in speedway haha
-
Good that Bomber has been officially confirmed. With the powers that be deciding to water down our league , and some of the entertainers moving on out of it , Bomber will just have to start missing the gate a bit more now .
-
It kinda was . Harris was in the pits with him at Cardiff when he rode in that SGP2 event on the Sunday after the main GP . I think having Harris in the pits with him again will prove beneficial
-
I think having Harris as a teammate again will be a big bonus to him and Glasgow
-
Leon Flint just been officially announced as signing number 2
-
We go through this pantomime every winter even though the septet seems to be the worst kept secret on the forum . It is what it is , clubs seem to love the drip feed nonsense
-
Only the champions are allowed to do that
-
Think Glasgow have had enough of trying to arrange fixtures around rider's overseas commitments . Too many times it's Danish League , or Danish championship or various under 21 fixtures meaning we've had missing riders for our important fixtures
-
No its not , if this does happen to be the 2024 side it looks like having an all British team makes it easier to arrange and rearrange fixtures without having to worry about losing riders to any fixtures abroad same as what has happened in the past .
-
That looks a long tail , but I suppose every team will have that with the 38 points limit . I have to say , the watered down league doesn't inspire excitement . Can't see me spending fortunes next season going to away meetings . But at least we'll still have Bomber to enjoy watching at Ashfield .

NDLRC take 2 Sunday 15th October

My third visit to Workington this season and I just love the place . Track has to be the widest in the country and its great news they are moving up . As for yesterday , a bit of a Sunday afternoon stroll in the sun for Connor Bailey , winning races by half a lap at times . But an enjoyable meeting nevertheless . Can't wait to watch Bomber blast round the outside of those bends next season -
Brilliant news yesterday . The Northside track is fantastic , got to be the widest in the country . Can just see Bomber blasting round the outside of those bends . That track deserves to be at a higher level , roll on 2024

I was hoping with the rumoured cut in the points limit to 38 that they would have shown a bit more ambition . But so be it
