  1. Every track has them unfortunately. Although since the take over at Glasgow , almost 10 years ago now , some of the newer fans have got that football supporter mentality and it is embarrassing at times
  2. Happiest man in Ashfield last night had to be " the Grand Monarch " . He will have been in his element dishing out all those exclusions in heat 8
  3. Think whoever was in heat 13 , whether it was Etheridge, Hagon or Garrad , there was a good chance they weren't going to beat Harris and Worrall . Hagon would have been more effective in heat 14 .
  4. Regardless who isn't doing what we hoped they would , watching Bomber every home meeting , especially when he misses the gate , is why we love speedway . That meeting was in danger of getting away from us last night as mid meeting Berwick looked the stronger side , but our captain , with some incredible overtaking , inspired us to the win .
  5. Its due to only racing each team once home and away . If we're only going with nine teams then forget the BSN thing and go with two home and away league meetings . We could be racing every week then .
  6. It's like the start of a new season since it seems ages ago since we raced at home . But it is the return of the Bandits and assorted guests as the Bandits keep the NHS overstretched . We should be along normal lines though no Claus Vissing this time , while god only knows who'll be in the Bandits line up . So let's have no anti-speedway weather on Friday please
  7. As was shown at Oxford away in the cup and last night , our bottom end of the side is too weak to enable us to have heat advantages on our travels . The 4-2 in heat 2 and the 3-2 in heat 11 last night were basically gifted to us
  8. I had hoped these kind of Glasgow performances at Armadale were a thing of the past , but clearly not . We made Paco look like Armando and had it not been for mechanical issues the defeat would have been heavier . The last time that many chains broke there was when Ronnie Correy was the master of that happening . We looked a pale shadow of last seasons side , sooner play off Bomber returns the better , though I fear he won't be gracing the play offs this time .
  9. We have the under 21 final and the youth meeting before June 21st
  10. On the Kingston Bridge and its battering down
  11. After a glorious Friday last week with no speedway , its back to the wet stuff on the run up to this encounter . We will be along the normal lines , while I believe the Bears are using Danyon Hume and Workington's young Aussie ( who's name I can't pronounce or spell ) as guests . Also an entertaining encounter both on the track and in the terraces , when these two sides get together , more of the same tomorrow please .
  12. Think we just have to accept that mistakes have been made over the winter , and the Complin thing couldn't have been forseen . With no real viable alternatives , we just see the season out with what we have
  13. Ashfield is the consolation this season . We're not going to win anything , but the home matches will be close , entertaining affairs .
  14. Aye the boy Hamilton who did a few laps at Ashfield after the Edinburgh meeting . Hard to judge when they are out on their own . Michael Penfold looked good doing laps on his own
  15. Think it was the heat that got to him , he is an elderly man . He spent the night in hospital in Whitehaven , got home on the Sunday . One of the Glasgow trackstaff went and got him
  16. This particular Glasgow fan will be back down for the Oxford meeting on the 25th
  17. The newer supporters are not used to seeing a struggling Glasgow side . So it's a bit of a culture shock . And those going on about Harris spitting the dummy after heat 11 , I'd rather see a rider pissed off at losing than a rider not really bothered about coming second . But if all venues in the country were like Northside , the sport would be in a much healthier place . Great arena , great track , brilliant fans and we even got to resurrect the Stevie Lawson chant from the 80's
  18. No I'll be back in a fortnight at Bank Holiday weekend
  19. We did , its a brilliant track and I have great friends among the Comets support
  20. Regardless whether you are red and white or blue and gold , speedway was the winner tonight . When you see the likes of Pickering and Harris going at it on a track so brilliantly prepared , it's still the most exciting sport in the world . But all 14 riders need congratulating for producing such a pulsating meeting
  21. Switched places . Starke at 2 , Pearson at 4 . Obviously fearing a Castagna heat 14 special
  22. BSN Cup v the Monarchs take two tomorrow night , and with the weather looking fair we should get past heat 6 this time . We are at full strength with Ace Pijper back and Jack Smith continuing in place of Lee Complin . In the original running we started really well and the Monarchs were just beginning to chip into our early lead when the anti-speedway weather intervened . So we have to stay on it as I think these two meetings against Edinburgh will result in home wins , with the bonus point deciding who wins the group .
