I dont imagine its that simple mikebv. Money will have had to be up front to join championship and knowing the powers that be....that money will be "non refundable". So its not poss to drop back to the NDL. The question I want the answer to, is why were the Comets told there will be no NDL next year, and as a result were asked to join the championship, then all of a sudden AFTER they had agreed to do that, the powers that be suddenly reinstated the NDL ?? All very strange if you ask me !

Supersteady84....we werent given the OPTION of staying in the NDL !! At the time we were approached to ride in the Championship, the BSPA or powers to be, told the club that the NDL as such, is being ABANDONED ! So we had the "choice" of not running a team at all, or joining the championship, with all its additional costs. Some choice ! Then "AMAZINGLY"....after we had agreed to join the championship, the powers that be suddenly reinstated the NDL ! Now isnt that just more than a little bit "odd" ???

Thats only a rumour. Talking to Peterborough supporters on Sunday, they confirm that Peterborough Speedway has NOT yet closed down. !

I think its still in one of those large containers in the pits, that the wonderful Rugby Club or Council are trying to charge ground rent for.. to the speedway management. They are SUCH nice people arent they !

What I said regarding the likelihood of the Comets taking to the track again next year John, is a combination of your interesting posts on here, and other reports. I am not saying it WOULDNT be happening, but its highly unlikely ! Sorry that you didnt get to know first about this one mate !

There is little likelihood of any bikes going round a track...(from what YOU said anyway.)

I will vote for the those that are against the same thing I am against....the building of a new stadium, which will be the biggest "Red(s) Herring" that this town has ever seen !! I agree this doesnt look good at all for the future of the Comets, and on the face of it, it LOOKS to many of us that Laura was in much greater debt than we imagined. But this may NOT be the case....Laura and her brother had MANY business interests, and "LJM Asset Management" might just have no financial connection to the speedway business she runs ? So maybe try not to pre-judge the effect of its demise has or has not, on the Comets....yet ?

Shamefully I have to admit, that I have NEVER voted in my entire life..............................................TILL NOW !! No prizes for guessing which party I WONT be voting for then !

I am led to believe that the Rugby Club will shortly be leaving Derwent Park, to play until the end of their season, at the soccer ground... Borough Park ! This is so that the new turf at Derwent Park can be laid, and allowed to bed in ready for their new season in August/September 2019. This would then, in effect, leave Borough Park clear for demolition. I also understand that approx 2 metres of the current speedway track will be removed to facilitate this.

Absolutely 100 per cent CORRECT ! The Comets management were literally en route to the BSPA AGM to inform them we were not able to run in 2019, when Laura received a phone call from a "local businessman", who said, "do NOT tell them that Laura...I can help". So the Comets management said at the AGM that they were able to run. But, just as you said, the promises of a cash injection did not materialise ! I am led to beleive that this in effect cost the club £5000, as they subsequently had to notify the BSPA that they now COULDNT run. If they had told them as they intended in the first place, that they were NOT RUNNING this year, then there would have been no £5000 to pay.

Probably a meeting with the Rugby Club to see how they can extend the centre green to accomodate the Reds Football team !

I havent visited rough park for several years. There are two reasons...1. The track can be downright dangerous at times (just look at how many riders get injured there). 2. A section of the so called home "fans" are a disgrace to their club..they are compared to animals, due to their antagonistic attitude to visiting supporters, with them LAUGHING as a visiting rider is taken away by ambulance, swearing and making threats to away supporters etc etc. I am sorry if this offends genuine Diamonds fans, but it is a fact and I and my fellow Comets supporters have had experience of this quite often ! So you can understand why I am reluctant to visit !
