Seems that Lakeside Management made a boo boo....Steve Worrall had been asked to guest for Richard Lawson, and he had agreed to do so. (It was even confirmed on the Lakeside Meeting Preview on their Website !). He actually got here to the stadium and Jacko swiftly pointed out that he is ineligble to ride tonight due to the 8 day rule ! Lakeside seemed to have forgotten about this when they asked Steve to guest !! He was spotted driving out of the stadium in his van shortly before the meeting started. ...Oh Dear ! -

Can anyone confirm the Lakeside 1-7 for tonight please ? Its not published ANYWHERE !! Amazing ! Thanks -
From what I understand from management, (Admittedly via a third person !), we should have a full complement of riders at Redcar on Thurs. We should also have a full complement of riders at home to Lakeside on Sat night. I believe that either NIcolai or Rene could be missing at home to Redcar on Sunday, but the other will be here for the Comets. (Something to do with one of their clubs in Poland no longer in the play offs, so they shouldn't need whichever of the two they normally call for) Hope this helps, but it maybe just confuses the situation ! Lol

They have probably changed 15 times since THAT far back ! -
Maybe he used to suck on a piece of damp cloth ?

Yawn......and I bet you worked "down't pit when yer were only 14 too !

Hey....less of the "posh people on Corporation Rd" comments !! At least people in that area actually do the decent thing, and get OUT of their bath for a pee..(unlike some people in a neighbouring town 8 miles south of Workington.)

I think we will ALL be extremely shocked the day that YOU have nothing to post on here Jenga !

I totally agree Jenga. Tony Jackson has always been totally and utterly devoted to his work for the Comets, over many many years. He should be given an award for all his work, much of which is done in his OWN TIME ! I cant help but think though, that with all the shenanigans that the poor bloke and the other club management have had to constantly battle against this season, he and they must be at the end of their tethers. -

I know Tony Jackson personally, quite well, and I can assure you that he could not attend the AGM because of personal family commitments (and believe me you would not wish to have those commitments yourself !). His place would have been taken by other management members, but I also know for a fact that they had untimely personal family commitments too !! I appreciate you werent inferring it, but please....no-one should think that our management just simply "couldnt be bothered" to attend the AGM. If you knew just how MUCH of his personal time Tony Jackson puts in week in and week out to sort team issues out, you would find it almost impossible to believe ! And he has a full time job to go to, plus he has long term family commitments to battle with on a daily basis too...so lets give him some credit ! -

I am also seriously concerned that we may only be allowed two NL GUESTS to cover for Rene and Nicolai who will most likely be riding in Poland ! I think this is more likely than less likely. -

Wow ! What a fantastic night of racing last night ! It is a LONG time since I saw two absolutely committed teams compete like they did. It is incredulous to see such a low attendance though. Those that chose not to attend, have missed one of the most exciting meetings for a long time. This was one meeting that contained the sort of racing that the "Premiership" would LOVE to see each week I am sure. Not to mention our league ! Dan Bewley was HEART STOPPING in some of his moves..not to mention Ty. Thanks lads, for putting on such a fantastic heart pumping meeting. Here's to a few more ! -

Sadly Cess couldnt make it to the Derwent Lounge last night. But he had arranged a deputy, that was going to give absolute HELL to Mr Godfrey ! But perhaps wisely, Mr Godfrey chose not to appear in the lounge after the meeting . Good job...as there are no security staff there ! -
New Fixtures released for Workington Comets
A.N.Other replied to A.N.Other's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I think we all have a pretty good idea as to why our league fixtures are being "held back" or delayed as much as possible by "outside sources". But I am not prepared to put that in print (!!), -
Some new dates in case you haven't seen them on the official Comets website... Saturday 11th August : Comets v Sheffield Saturday 18th August : Comets v Ipswich and a reminder :- Sunday 5th August : Comets v Scunthorpe The fixture on Saturday coming, v Newcastle will remain as a KOC meeting and NOT changed to a league meeting. This is totally outside the control of the management of Workington Speedway. Cheers
-
You could always have another strike !
-
Hi Neil Jacko told me in the car park after our last meeting, that he was "reasonably confident" that we would be riding against Newcastle in the return leg of the KOC on Saturday 28th July. In fact Dave Hoggart also intimated this over the mic on the centre green. But up to now, there has been no public announcement that this meeting is still planned ? Cheers Mate
-
....has today signed for Glasgow, to replace Richie Worrall.
-
The management made several announcements last night to indicate the odds are looking good that there WILL be a meeting on 28th July, My guess is it will be against Newcastle in the KOC. Lets wait and see.
-
I agree. I felt also, that Dave Hoggart, stepped over the mark, when he sarcastily stated that although he could only announce information when the referee instructed him to, "it was fairly obvious what the problem was" !!! That is insulting the fans. Yes we knew there was a problem, but it certainly WASNT "obvious" !
