Attendance Crisis In Sweden?
Liverstam replied to iris123's topic in International World of Speedway
Well it's actually not worse than last year so far. 2006 = 2602/match 2007 = 2657/match As for Hammarby we have about 500 spectators more/match this year so far compared to last year which is positive. And ofcourse it doesn't cover the cost of the team, but no one expects it to either. You can't run a club on gates alone. Since Hans Nelén is the man who dreamed up some of the fattest rider-contracts he might aswell pay for them -
Absolutely unbelievable post. Get a grip man.

Here they are, messrs Noel King and Chris Hare. http://www.vf.se/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.vf....6a89d97c3e39837

There was an article in a local paper a few weeks ago about two elderly chaps from Eastbourne who go and watch Valsarna from Hagfors several times a season.

Wild Card Copenhagen
Liverstam replied to iris123's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Peter Karlsson is very much on the wrong side of 30, but otherwise the team is sure to be AJ (27) Lindgren (22) Antonio (22) and Davidsson (23). The Danes are awesome at the moment though. -
Masarna brought him on from the age of 16. Think about Antonios career up to this point, his improvment curve has shot straight up since he was 16. Is it any wonder if he get's an off year? He's still only 22.

Rubbish SCB. No EL-team would have any kind of chance in the Elitserien, unless they rode their home matches at some kind of bizarre result-altering trick-track.
-
Some kid from San Fransisco, USA, apparently. Don't really know anything else about him. Tarabanko should know more

The no 8 Viktor Bergström took Emil's last ride. N means you are replaced, for whatever reason. I think this one was tactical as Bergström looked good. This is a tactical advantage if you have a good enough junior to ride as the free no 8. Edit; Very nice to see Ruud back on track, that's good news on a week otherwise marred with the tragedy of Robin Johansson.

Wild Card Copenhagen
Liverstam replied to iris123's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
How strong are Denmark at the moment! Kenneth Bjerre is the right choice for the wild card. Too bad Jespers form in the UK isn't that good, otherwise he could have made a strong claim aswell. He's flying in Poland and Sweden. -
Fair play to you Iris, I hadn't done my home work And I agree - strange that Anton decided not to enter.
-
Think they are seeded straight into the Motala round to be fair Iris. Not 100% sure though. Maybe Anders knows?

Speedway Super Pokal - Krsko
Liverstam replied to Liverstam's topic in International World of Speedway
That's just great Tomaz, will be looking out for the scores. Cheers! -
It's a very good looking line-up. Jason Crump, Matej Zagar, Bjarne Pedersen, Jarek Hampel, Jesper B. Jensen, Rune Holta, Lee Richardson, Gregorz Walasek, Charlie Gjedde, Lukas and Ales Dryml, Joonas Kylmäkorpi, Matej Ferjan, Jurica Pavlic and Izak Santej. Anyone going there or anyone who knows if there will be live updates for this one?

Jesper never rode the A-final. It said on the Outrup site "for unknown reasons". Anybody in the know?

The New Scoring System
Liverstam replied to Grachan's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
You build a good case and obviously you have spent more time thinking about this issue than me. Hence, I'm starting to sway and I think you probably are correct. Top post! -
Gp 3 Eskilstuna May 26
Liverstam replied to tarabanko's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
This is indeed a bit of a mess A mil is 10 kilometres but only in Sweden and Norway. I guess it is more practical to say it's 7 mil somewhere rather than 70 kilometres. But as you say, it's never used on roadsigns and shouldn't cause that much confusion. Now the real kings of strange units are undoubtedly the english. Half crown anyone? (Yes I know you don't use them anymore). -
The New Scoring System
Liverstam replied to Grachan's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I'm not so sure it's a major fault or indeed a fault at all. Granted the way it has turned out Nicki is a little too far ahead already, but it would be strange if there was nothing extra (points-wise) to go for in the final. Against the performances of Nicki so far (13 wins out of 14) there is not much to do. I think overall it's an improvement with every heat counting which makes the whole GP more exciting, whereas before there were some dead heats. Ofcourse it is a little strange that the winner doesn't necessarily walk away with the most points, but I'm not sure that's always very fair either. -
Holta's wall of death ride was an instant classic! Could not stop laughing

That's just how Sweden looks, spruce and pine as far as the eye can see except for in the city centres. You should see the north! -

Liverstam replied to tarabanko's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
We do, we do What Tarabanko is saying is that it's 12 kilometres from central Eskilstuna to the stadium. 12km - 7,5 miles. -
A lot of world champions will testify that you need to ride in England, Per Jonsson and Tony Rickardsson to name but two. Especially at the beginning of each season, March and April to be ready for the GP's. As some others have said on this thread it's beneficial because you learn to set-up the bike for all sorts of tracks until it becomes second nature. And the many race nights keep you sharp. It is however not down to the EL being particulary good or competitive, but even so, almost every match you face at least one other top rider to give you a little test. Orion has a good point but his conclusion is all wrong, it was many years since the EL was the best in the world.

Who Will Challenge Nicki In 2007?
Liverstam replied to Bonsai Diamond's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
But I hardly think Nicki, Greg or Hans are the equivalents of Pompey or West Ham. Don't get me wrong, Jason is still the man to beat. I'm just tired of this "he'll only lose if he can't be arsed" attitude. -

Looking at that record, apart from two years when Tony gave the title away (because apparently that's what happens when the best guy doesn't win, eh?) he's an absolute serial failure -

Don't think just because he dominated for one year he's that much better than anyone else. I'm growing tired of this "his to give away" nonsense. Crump is far from unbeatable, although he is the favourite and current no 1. If anyone does manage to beat him to the title they will have done so on their own merit and does not need to hear they were gifted the title - that's just crap. Also you need to take into consideration that the Crump of 2006 might have been a freak - Jason's standards are mighty high but will he ever be as good over a whole season as last year again? Maybe.
