  1. Local TV Central News tonight had the Dudley Town Crier doing his "Oh Yays" as Dudley applies for City status. The Town Crier looked remarkably similar to that of the Wolves centre-green announcer, Porky??? My Wolves chums say, how can Dudley ever claim city status when the Council doesn't want to have a League Football team (they play in Willenhall), a speedway team (remember Cradley) or even a railway station (it closed in the 60's)!!! Other 2021 City status applicants include Milton Keynes (Speedway shut), Reading (Speedway shut) and Swindon (is it an omen?)
  2. Are there any riders missing? After all as we always told how well the track drains etc and it being the TV match?
  3. Praise to all concerned with the 15 heats being done and dusted in under 90 mins. Rain was forecast for 9pm and for once arrived as scheduled! Hopefully with the next home meeting being on Freedom Day we can see a return of a better crowd interaction and wave goodbye to the Covid Marshalls.
  4. As Wolves last home match was against. .... Sheffield!!!, Tigers should be well set up for it. Sorry to hear of Bates being sidelined as he always rode with good social distancing when trying to get round Monmore.
  5. Why not start the meeting at 10:30pm? The sun will have gone down by then and track grading can be completed for then (possibly?). If the football goes into extra time then a 30 mins delay will be easy for most fans to accept. Might have to cancel the second half though.
  6. Oh yes.... age is only a number!! But it's getting bigger!!! Yep. From a fading memory, Nel Revlis was in the Sunderland proggy when I was at Sunderland v Bradford in the early seventies. I was spannering for Tony Freegard who was riding for Bradford. Dave Baugh equalled Ivan Mauger's track record in heat one. It was a small track and we had to borrow a front sprocket off Jim Ryman (Boston) who was living in Wolverhampton at the time. I was proud of driving back from Sunderland to Wolves in one go!!! Although years later I heard Matt Wethers mechanic drove St. Austell to Edinburgh in one go which eclipses my effort by far . In later years I drove in the States and did New Mexico to San Bernadino, Ca with fuel stops only to watch Speedway. Happy times . Nowadays it's an achievement to get up the M6 from Wolves to Belle Vue.
  7. Can't he be programmed as Weeve Storrall? After all Len Silver could be Nel Revlis and be at two tracks on the same night . This would enable 'Trebling Up' to be introduced. Simples!!!
  8. Yep that's what was said. Nothing next Monday on Eurosport. Plus Belle Vue - Sheffield is postponed anyway. Isn't it wonderful the options that a six team league gives???
  9. You could finish in the Top Six of the Premiership
  10. Yep. A strong programme board with a large bulldog clip was mandatory!!!
  11. I recall the once being in the pits at King's Lynn with Spike spannering for George Hunter. George had incurred a tape infringement (rolling at the start) and was excluded. George could be heard balling down the phone to the Referee saying, "It's my job to beat you, not your job to beat me!" + a few expletives!!! Sure miss him.
  12. A very well written statement summing up the issues that are impacting all tracks.
  13. Sad news. It's another dent in the Rising Star scheme, especially at Premiership level. Poor tracks and tyre issues can't help confidence. Welcome to Rising Star Replacement (RS/R)
  14. ... and all three are greyhound stadiums with glass enclosures??? Wolves council also reduced the ring road speed limit from 40mph to 30mph. At least they haven't slowed the speedway bikes down yet!!!
  15. Whoopee... both teams using R/R plus TV drag out ... Normality is back
  16. I used to like Mothers Pride but prefer Warburtons now.
  17. Is there a time limit on the parking at the OneStop these days?
  18. Is that a question for the fans or the riders?
  19. Yipes how long ago!!! ... a group of us came up from Wolves for that one. Mega night. You will be telling me next that Bob Dylan is 80 today!!
  20. No wonder terrace tickets were sold out when I tried to get one
  21. The April 30th posting did say 'aiming' for Tues 11th !!! I perhaps I was foolish to think at last a coordinated launch with Covid compliance details etc and the PL entering the information age. Now it could be 12 noon tickets on-line available for a meeting with no line-up declared (12 riders / 16 riders?) or 15Ht / 20 Ht / 22Ht's etc formula announced, to be held on a night where the forecast is light rain for most of the day. So, will terrace folk be allowed into the downstairs bar if the rain gets heavier? Whats the provision for previous rain-off tickets from 2019. It could be worse there could be a price increase (whoops!)
  22. .... and a great night on the fun fair and in the bier Keller.
  23. Smack on. And further compounded by the lack of variety by only having six teams in the league.
  24. Better get Don Quixote in to shift them then?
  25. Haven't seen anything. Presume something will appear after Boris gives the green light tomorrow for May 17th start. Speculation as to the line up would be limited as only Wolves and P'borough from the PL are not riding on the 17th. One of my chums suggested our riders might have to guest at either BV vs Sheffield or the K.Lynn vs Ipswich meetings.
