i thought the track was much better today but the grading and watering needs looking at. still no readmission tickets issued at the turnstiles, neil sort it out!
The kings were very unlucky with the weather today. There has been little or no rain in the rest of the south east and the forecast for heavy showers this evening appear to be wide of the mark.
I will be there on monday if the weather is ok. It's just great to have a new track to visit in the south east after the loss of so many venues over the years.
it's a shame that more people don't turn up on saturday evenings to support the rockets young riders. garrity, nelson, mellgren and lykke have great potential and produce some excellent racing at the launch pad.
the pa seemed fine in the main stand where i was sitting shads. there were a few people on bends 1 & 2 but bends 3 & 4 were closed, so i don't know if it was working in those areas.
It was a very good turn out last night shads, before the rain spoiled it. The meeting was run at a fast pace with the riders at the tapes for heat 1 dead on 6.30. The kings side does need strengthening though, to help maintain crowd levels.
i doubt if there was much more than 500 at arlington on saturday for the coventry match. there was about a 1000 at kent's second meeting last night. the horrendous weather is having a major impact on speedway attendances this season.
tomorrow evening sees the first competitive match staged at central park. what sort of impact yesterdays downpours and todays rain will have on the newly laid track, who knows. i reckon the islanders might win this one.
Despite a few teething problems i enjoyed yesterdays opener at central park. It was nice to sit in an excellent grandstand with good views and i reckon the track will produce some decent racing once it settles down. The main problem will be the curfew. the riders will need to be at the tapes for 6.30, otherwise i can see a few declared results at kent this season!
the thing is shads, len should have pulled the plug on it when he saw the USA line up. first impressions will count a lot for any newbies there tomorrow. if you want them to return next week, you need to stage a competitive meeting. i just hope some decent replacements can be found this late in the day, even if they are not american!
this seems to reflect the general lack of interest on this forum. some meetings have been staged with no topic started at all. my thread on the first ever meeting at kent tomorrow has had very few replies.
the opening meeting at central park is just over 24 hours away and yet there is still only 2 replies to my topic. is there no interest in this meeting, is anyone planning to go tomorrow.
just a few days to go before the newest track in the uk opens. this coming monday sees the kent kings take on the 'american internationals'. i'm not a big fan of challenge matches or select sides and would rather have seen a proper team take on the kings in the opener. the weather forecast looks good and i think there will be a decent crowd.
