Plymouth raced canterbury and crayford in 1968 and 1969. -
An excellent post paulco and an excellent insight into the roving history of the tiggers. I've been to the last four of the glasgow tracks plus the last ever workington tigers against my wimbledon dons. After a good few years at ashfield you must be due to move again!

Good luck with all of those problems. I really miss going to the league matches at the old gun site.

There are quite a few postings on facebook saying that iwade speedway has closed. Has anybody heard anything to confirm this.

Mick hines who gave great service to both ipswich and wimbledon.

walthamstow's short season in 1934 ended with a court injunction due to noise complaints. This led to the club relocating to hackney wick in 1935, you see the nimby's were with us even in those far away days! -

God knows what state British speedway will be in by the time this new stadium gets built. The whole sport might be running at NL level by then! -

David hamilton is on the mic at fulham and used to announce at reading tilehurst and wembley lions in the 1970's. -
Tuesdays will seem strange to me this season, not rushing down to Pompey to catch the fast cat to ryde. I have many good memories of smallbrook stadium. the big crowds of the wight wizards era, the superb riding of Shaun Tacey when PL racing arrived on the island, the Aussie invasion including the great chris holder and finally the islanders return to the NL. I have enjoyed them all and hope we will meet again one day.

Wimbledon Stadium: Some Important News
cityrebel replied to Parsloes 1928 nearly's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Too right derek, west ham is my all time favourite speedway track and highbury is my football clubs spiritual home. Wimbledon stadium the home of my beloved dons will soon be joining those two defunct iconic london sporting venues. -
Who Was The Most Frustrating Rider?

Dennis is christer's son.

Yes he did. Lofqvist was a very exciting rider. My first visit to west ham was his first meeting as a hammer. So i was won over at an early age!

I met karl fiala at the lydd veterans meeting a couple of years ago. He seemed a very nice bloke who is still very keen on all things speedway! -
Looking at this as a wide eyed kid in the early 1970's. My top three are ronnie moore, tommy jansson and the king of custom house christer lofqvist!

Wimbledon Stadium: Some Important News
cityrebel replied to Parsloes 1928 nearly's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
As a lifelong wimbledon fan i think the stadium has little chance of surviving as a greyhound or speedway venue. Both sports are in decline and who in their right mind would invest millions of pounds in building a new stadium for about a 1000 people. For this reason I fear that swindon will soon join oxford and reading as a former speedway venue. There is no money in speedway anymore, you only have to look at the strength of the elite league to realise that. -
Speedway Star Toothless Pussycat

Munich must go down as one of the worst tracks of all time. It looked even narrower than somerton park, although it was a great stadium with excellent views of the 'racing'! -
Which Rider Have You Never Taken To?

Ivan mauger. When i was a kid i hated him for his antics at the tapes. But i changed my opinion of him in 1985 when thanks to cyril maidment, i went on his farewell tour to poland with all of the riders and ivan's family. He could not have been more nicer to me and it made me feel guilty about booing him all those years ago! -
Speedway Star Toothless Pussycat

I might have stopped buying the star in 1991, but i still get back issues given to me on a regular basis. A quick glance at these tell me all i need to know. -
