  1. speaking as a neutral i think the heathens should keep the dudley name. cradley were a team that closed in 1995 and should remain that way until a new home track is found. like boston and hackney in the past, i'm just not in favour of defunct clubs running in the league. this is just my opinion and no offence intended!
  2. preventing the constant clock watching leading up to the mad rush would be a big bonus for me. at least i can relax a bit and watch the meeting, i don't get home until 12.30 am even when i catch the earlier ferry. the proposed cuts to ferry services start in january 2013. there is currently a petition doing the rounds to demonstrate against the changes to the timetables.
  3. with wightlink looking to cut even more services from the current timetable it seems a logical decision to make. last season it wasn't just us fans making a mad dash to catch the 9.45 fast cat, the riders were also rushing to make the 10pm car ferry. failure to make that sailing would mean a wait until midnight!
  4. well done to all of the riders for putting on a show at a wet launch pad last night. with a couple of additions rye could have a decent team in 2013.
  5. the forecast is for some wet stuff on sunday. maybe uncle len will pull the plug on this early.
  6. a pleasent mild afternoon in london today. it's a shame the match is off tonight, i feel like going to a meeting, i did consider the ELRC, but £25 plus prog for an event i'm not really interested in plus travel costs would work out at around the £70 mark!
  7. shads, you should know the only opinions uncle len allows at hoddesdon are his own!
  8. you could end up with a lifetime ban from the launch pad shads!
  9. the sad fact is derek, crowds are always poor on the island outside of the holiday season. although last night did seem lower than usual.
  10. that's a fair point but speedway is a sport governed by self intrest.
  11. i didn't like to mention the poor crowd arnie, i don't want to be accused of being negative!
  12. a superb performance by young adam ellis was the highlight of an entertaining match on the island last night. it was nice to go to a meeting without having to check multiple weather forecasts!
  13. it was announced on the island last night that adam has signed up to ride for the islanders next season. the lad is a great prospect and lakeside were quick off the mark in signing him as a full hammers asset. well done to them.
  14. this coming saturday sees sheffield visit the launch pad in the rockets 2nd home match in the 'mickey mouse cup'. if ipswich's match with the tigers gets rained off tonight, it could be tough to rearrange with both being thursday tracks. maybe the rockets will be seeded straight to the final. are there any other outstanding meetings left in the northern group.
  15. i think 'gaylord' suits you derek!
  16. graham knowler is still very active in the amateur speedway scene. i've seen him in action at lydd recently, still sporting his wimbledon race jacket. regarding patrick pawson, he was a very poor replacement for mick hines who was moved on because of the dreaded points limit.
  17. yet another grotty weather forecast for the island tonight. let's hope the weather men have got it wrong and the meeting gets run. will this wet stuff ever end.
  18. i agree norman. as a collector of most things london speedway, i've even included lakeside because of it's romford postcode and rye house because of it's history as a london speedway training track. both of these venues are included on the london speedway forum along with high beech, so that's good enough for me. i will not be extending this catchment area any wider, i haven't got the room!.
  19. i paid my annual visit to foxhall last night and was shocked by the size of the crowd. it was so poor i thought i was at hoddesdon!. that aside, i thought it was a decent meeting with some good racing despite the tricky second bend!.
  20. i've got to admire your dedication or question your sanity!. i used to have your enthusiasm back in the 1970's & 80's following wimbledon home and away. despite having no team to support i've still attended 68 meetings this season, old habits die hard!. have a safe trip tomorrow.
  21. i'm quite suprised uncle len didn't switch this to sunday, with the deciding gp on saturday night as well as all the other tv attractions!
