  1. i've just seen on the bspa website that tonight's meeting on the island is off.
  2. i went to the emirates on wednesday with my daughter and it was only £15 for the two of us, which is the standard price in the lower tier for league cup matches. the lowest price for grade 'b' and 'c' premier league games at arsenal is £25 and £35, which is cheap by london football standards. regarding tomorrows chelsea match, £62 is way too steep for me. as a member i can still get a seat today on the arsenal ticket exchange scheme at face value. when i checked on the website yesterday they still had plenty left, at those prices i'm not suprised!. i'm going to the RICO meeting at arena tonight and i might go to the NLRC at rye house tomorrow, but at £16 plus prog, i'm not sure it's worth it.
  3. if the comets were thinking of dropping down into the NL they might be better off moving into the northside training track. they could upgrade the facilites, drastically reduce costs and sow some seeds for the future.
  4. 2007 was at PL level and nought to do with the infamous mr morrish!
  5. the 1980 grand prix final brings back many memories for me. it was run at wimbledon in torrential rain, i can remember those photos of alan grahame covered in wet shale with just his eyes visible! . those were the days.
  6. mr.morrish was announcing at birmingham last night, so obviously he was far too busy to sort out trivial NL matters!
  7. i felt a bit embarressed last night being asked to go round on the parade truck to wave to the riders!
  8. a decent match at the launch pad last night, it's just a shame there weren't more people there to see it. combined with last sundays attendance at the british youth championship at sittingbourne, i doubt if it totalled 300 for both meetings. i really do fear for speedways future at this level.
  9. the problem is, if you splash the cash on a decent team and the fans still don't come, you go bust just like newport. some speedway venues just go past their sell by date. i hope rye isn't one of them.
  10. i was at that meeting shads. poor old bunners had big bike problems that night!
  11. tomorrow evening sees redcar visit the launch pad, it has the makings of another close match at rye. the weather is set fair, so all you rockets fans get yourself down there to support your team. they need you!
  12. you are right, that was the reason. i worked at wimbledon in a official capacity for 22 years including the WTC meeting in 1983 when the start and finish line was moved to satisfy the FIM. a similar set up to give the riders a better run to the first bend is still used at sittingbourne today.
  13. i don't think uncle len's interval track watering helped the rockets cause shads!
  14. a very good meeting at the launch pad tonight watched by a decent crowd. there was some excellent racing involving the rockets heat leaders and ben barker.
  15. my post was referring to the dry weather, not the dry track!
  16. a decent meeting at a dry launch pad last night. a deserved point for a determined comets side in a hard fought match.
  17. it's the worse case scenario for uncle len this evening shads. a weakened rockets side going up against a decent looking sky tv match and a dodgy forecast. weather permitting i will be one of the die hards there tonight.
  18. he looked pretty good on his debut at leicester last night. he rode some decent lines and was well on the pace.
  19. tomorrow sees the rockets take on workington in the first meeting staged at the launch pad since the olympic break. with both teams missing riders it could be a close match depending on the line ups. after a decent weeks weather the forecast is poor for monday, typical british summer!
  20. a lovely afternoon spent on the south coast was followed by a trip across the solent to see the islanders well beaten by a very determined dudley side. thankfully there were no sun delays which enabled us to get the earlier ferry.
  21. I sold my speedway mails on ebay in bundles of four for a pound, i was happy to get that for them. Post 1970 magazines can be very hard to sell.
