  1. Olly will do just fine, if given the chance out on track. Certain riders seem to step it up a gear when they're riding for their country (Rico being one of them) and I think Olly will be one of them... and I just hope the same goes for Ed!
  2. I'd change Olly and Ed around - from what I've read on here, and from looking at last night's results, Olly deserved more than his 5 points... and the fact that he has scored more around Brandon on a regular basis proves that he can do it. Ed, on the other hand, seems to have a strong dislike for the Coventry track. I sincerely hope he does the business next Monday, but is he worth the risk when there is no evidence that he can ride this track?? Why not use Allen in this round, on his home track which he rides week in and week out... and if he doesn't perform then slot Kennett in. I don't think we're going to have any problems qualifying through this round, so give Olly a chance now and then, if Middlo is so intent on using him, put Kennett in for the final. BUT, if Olly does prove himself in this first round, then IMO he should be kept in the team.
  3. No, I wasn't there, never claimed I was... I'm just going off the up-dates, as most people on here who are claiming Dryml is innocent are. How can the guy be excluded twice and have done nothing wrong?! And now David is going to miss the world cup because of it - not a very nice state of affairs. Sarcasm - how very clever of you. I'm well aware this is the world championship qualifiers and I know how badly all of the riders want it... but it's no excuse. If, as has been said, the gaps are miniscule, then riders simply shouldn't go for them and put their fellow riders at risk; it's stupid, IMO. Yes, I have seen Lukas riding recently and he is hitting form, at last, but none of what has been said is any excuse. He must have been doing something wrong to be excluded TWICE! I just have this feeling that is Hans or Nicki had been involved then some peoples' reactions would be very different.
  4. I'm not a Dryml fan, I'm a Peterborough fan and he wasn't racing for Peterborough tonight so he doesn't have my support. At the end of the day, if any rider had done what he has allegedly done I would be saying the same thing. Erm, not quite! And neither of them are exactly the most sportsman-ly all the time, are they??
  5. Who said anything about wanting that?! Less injuries would be nice, but no one, as far as I know, has mentioned that (ie start to finish winner). And I honestly don't think that any rider would jump into a gap that wasn't there and risk injuring another rider... well, at least not a good sportsman anyway.
  6. In that case I apologise; that's not how it reads... Quite possibly, but in any case, Drmyl was still excluded for two riders falling... that says it all really, unless the ref was wrong on two occassions!?
  7. Quite possibly, but it's not unknown for a rider to react to a bad move. I'm sure all will become clear sooner or later.
  8. Like I just said also, you're right: none of us know the full story... but seriously, he must have been doing something to be excluded after two riders fell, and for Carpanese to allegedly "attack" him.
  9. And that makes it alright?? Of course he didn't mean to hurt David, or Carpanese (if he's hurt... I think he was taken to hospital?), but you'd have thought after knocking the first rider off he would have thought twice about making a certain move and knocking a further two riders off. Yes, injuries do unfortunately come as part and parcel of this sport (it's the bit I hate most about it), so the riders should be doing everything possible to prevent them. And as for hard racing... when's the last time Lukas raced hard?! And, I'm not being funny, but have you seen the races in which he knocked riders off?
  10. He did it more than once, and caused an injury to at least one of the riders... doesn't matter who he'd done it to, he shouldn't have done it in the first place, or at least should've learnt after the first time. We've had enough injuries this season, thank you very much!
  11. Dryml, watch where you're going... there are three other riders on the track!!
  12. Some have said you can't judge Ed by his one poor meeting at Coventry, and in the same instance you can't judge David by his performance on Saturday night. I don't think he disgraced himself by any means... he didn't finish last, he picked up some points, and he had a couple of thrilling and skillful rides. I'm glad he's at least at reserve after his poor form last season, but going by this season I do believe he should have been thought of ahead of either Ed, who I think needs another year or so before he is considered for the national stage; or Steady, who is only just returning from injury.
  13. Not sure if this has been mentioned anywhere else, but just saw this on the Coventry website: BRITISH Grand Prix winner Chris Harris and Team GB skipper Scott Nicholls will be guests on the Chris Evans show on BBC Radio 2 this Wednesday, July 4 at 6.45pm. Tune in on 88-91FM. Should be worth a listen I wonder if they can tempt Evans to having a go on a bike?!
  14. What's its normal slot?? Would it be the 7th or 14th June?? I'm definitely going again after this year!
  15. I emailed Bill Bradshaw at the Express to tell him how much I enjoyed his report and I have had this reply from him: Hi Leanne, Thanks for your kind comments. I really enjoyed the meeting at Cardiff (many years since my last one). What great sport on the night; what fine racing! We have enjoyed putting together our recent coverage and it is fantastic to have this direct feedback from fans such as yourself. All the best, Bill Bradshaw, Sports Editor They are hopefully taking notice of what us, the fans, are saying and will keep up the great coverage of speedway in general.
  16. Howe at reserve after the season he's been having!? I'd even be tempted to put David in instead of Steady, seeing as he's only just come back from injury. Denmark, as ever, are looking very strong. Australia will go well, too... Sulli is, according to reports, on fire at the moment, and Adams and Crump are ever-reliable.
  17. Just noticed that and was about to comment... he's meant to be in Peterborough, weather permitting! Good quotes in that column in the Mirror - I'm not surprised Bomber had 60 missed calls and dozens of texts!!
  18. Have just seen the coverage in the print versions of The Express and The Daily Mail and they're great. In case anyone is interested, the Express piece was by Bill Bradshaw (bill.bradshaw@express.co.uk) and the Daily Mail piece was by Ivan Speck (I.speck@dailymail.co.uk). I am going to email them both to congratulate them on fantastic pieces of journalism and encourage them to keep the coverage going, including at domestic level too.
  19. I understand what you're saying, as this guy was only celebrating... but if he'd have had a gun or a knife and his aim had been to attack Bomber then you would all be congratulating the stewards now. There's no way the steward was to know what this guy's intentions were, and I guess they have to think of the worst case scenario and act on that. Also, it does seem a little silly of the supporter to climb over the netting, which was obviously there for a reason - everyone else managed to celebrate from their seat; why should one guy get special treatment and, as I've said, pose a potential security risk?
  20. I debated over taking my umbrella but in the end left it in the hotel as I've already had to chuck one at a concert recently... but as it happens our bags weren't checked at all - as Sandie said, it's S@d's Law! I agree that it's great that there are security checks, and I guess the thing about kids falling over bottles in the event of an evacuation makes sense... but surely the same could be said for anything from the air horns to handbags. I did find it funny that on the back of the ticket it said "nothing that could be used as a weapon or missile", yet there were no end of flags on sticks (which I think looked great, but surely they're a "weapon"?).
  21. Well he was obviously pushed, wasn't he!? Even I, as a huge Nicki fan, knew that as soon as he hit the dirt that was the end of his British GP, and while I spent a few seconds desperately trying to come up with an excuse for him, there just wasn't one. Hey ho, who needs to win GPs to become World Champ, eh Loramski?!
  22. Apparently there was a Poole fan who wanted to meet me in the PoW... he was asking Starman where I was - who where you?! It's been bugging me all day coz I can't think who it might have been!
  23. ... talking of fireworks: we were walking out of the seating area as they came to the end... that massive bang; was it meant to happen, because there was a bit of a hush before everyone started clapping?
