PS - I’d suggest registering on the Bears forum and reading the actual comments from the Bears promoter to see there is no blame laid at anyone’s door for the situation tomorrow.

It wasn't my opinion - I was reporting what the Redcar promoter posted on the Bears forum "We tried our best to move the fixture but couldn’t" - that is the exact quote. Not blaming Scunthorpe - fair to say I think they would struggle to get favourable result with a full Redcar team out.

Jitendra has put a detailed response on the Bears Forum as to why the decision was made to sign Riss and admits it was a calculated gamble knowing that he would miss 2 home meetings (this week and next week) but that we would have guest facility next Friday. Tried to get the meeting moved but couldn’t reach agreement strangely enough. In the long term it’s a move that gives Redcar a better chance of making the playoffs which is hard to disagree with. The Promotion didn’t have to give a detailed explanation or offer a discount but they have and deserve some credit for that. I would have thought the Scunny fans would welcome not only a much better chance at winning and £2 staying in their pockets (feel free to pay full price).

Nice gesture form the Promotion to take £2 off adult admission due to the under strength Bears line up. Revenue will already be down as I'm sure the gate will be affected.

I think Auty, Allen, Ayres and Barker enjoy riding Redcar more than they do Newcastle though. Much less home advantage. Kasper is making his home debut so it’s unfair to expect him to be consistently scoring and he will have to take at least 5 rides. With a full team I’d predict a comfortable home win, with the side riding on Friday Scunthorpe should be picking up 4 league points.

I’m sure the fact Redcar have r/r themselves and a NL reserve at Number 1 will influence the decision on if they can handle using R/R on Friday. Scunthorpe should be looking for 4 points from this meeting.

Excellent conspiracy theory there. Redcar have obviously pulled a fast one here - booking a track specialist NL rider to guest for Riss at home on Friday. We could always try and come up with an excuse not to run on Friday. Any ideas?

Amazing to think that Scunthorpe will be favourites to win at Redcar on Friday given the performances on Sunday, but they will be given Redcars likely team line up.

Close but no cigar. Excellent win for the Bears on a track where I expected the new look line up to go well. Took advantage of the absence of Nicol and were a bit unlucky not to get 4 points.

If riders deliberately move the referee warns them, then if they do it again they get excluded - like Stewart was tonight. There’s 2 of your “deliberate” tactics straight away ( neither of which benefitted the Bears).

Taken it well I see. I’d respectfully suggest your point about the Bears moving to put the rider next to them off is wrong and the sour taste in your mouth is actually sour grapes. Nothing at all under hand about Andersen not riding tonight (he had a decent meeting in Denmark tonight though if you are interested)

Good solid performance from the Bears. Think a few things fell our way (Proctors poor points return in the first leg being a major one) but you need a bit of luck to progress sometimes.

I assume we needed a 2 point rider when we got Riss as a new Nr1 to stay below the points limit.

Alternatively - the curfew is 10:30 and the result was called after the last race that finished before this time. If the Bears had got a 3-3 than they would have got a point. Understand the frustration.

Stewart not riding for the Bears makes a difficult meeting much harder in my opinion. Expecting an away victory in this one.

Well if Redcar weren't upto much last night (according to some) then Heeps aside you would have to say the Monarchs were very poor. Good solid performance - Stewart, MPT and Wright all good and solid back up. Wells a major let down for the Monarchs and 1 point from 8 rides at reserve is abysmal. Heeps was fantastic though and produced a brilliant last to first ride in Heat 15 that was as good as you''ll see anywhere.

Ostergaard confirmed as the replacement for Barker. Expected this to be honest, not a massive amount of riders to choose from based on the current averages.

Fair point - it's such a shame to see the stands practically empty when the racing is as good as it is.

Really enjoyable meeting with some cracking racing. Ipswich fully deserved at least a point. As a neutral I'd be perfectly happy if BT just showed Belle Vue home meetings - far more entertaining than just about any other track in the Premiership
