I thought the best system was every race counted, so effectively riders could score 21 per GP if they won all 7 races, the fact that some riders could end up with more points than the winner didn’t bother me one jot. Riders also knew that retiring for whatever reason cost them points and would always generally try to race rather than just give up. I don’t have a problem with the top 6 qualifying for the following seasons GP but the GP Challenge should provide at least 6 qualifiers with just 3 picks for the FIM., this rewards riders who do the qualifiers. Too many riders rely on the FIM picks for places and don’t bother to do the GP Qualifiers and just take a chance, if they decline to pre qualify and don’t make the top 6 or 8 then they shouldn’t get a FIM pick.

Falls show the story somewhat as well Ipswich 11 and Leicester 1, and importantly Ipswich twice when on 5-1’s. -

Allocations are done by Jim McGregor as far as I know, Jim Lawrence is the SCB Chairman only and as someone said watched the match live in person -

He should indeed, that was a poor decision to leave it to the two guests, what a cop out. Almost as bad as trying to fix the gates for the finale, that wasn’t a good thing to see either. The meeting was kept interesting by the scoreline, nothing else as the racing as such was gate and go all night, unfortunately Leicester isn’t any better but I think the lead isn’t enough for Ipswich who badly let it slip when it really mattered. -

It’s all about the starts and Ipswich look much the better trappers, Fricke is awful especially considering his form in Latvia at the weekend. The real surprise is the crowd, it’s as dreadful as Leicesters showing. -

Perhaps we all should text Abi to find out why Ipswich are not riding against Sheffield in the play offs -

Surely won’t make any difference as Ipswich will get a facility which is no different to what they have now. A lot of people now realise that building a team around two big hitters is a disaster if both get injured at the same time. -
Sheffield vs Ipswich 2024 Cup Final Sept 2nd

Well Oliver Allen has some excuse because he doesn’t manage a team in any of the leagues but Stead should know as he does. -

I think you giving Bates too much credit, he has never struck me as being that bright, that coupled with Stead who surely should have known the rules. -

Kings Lynn v Sheffield 29/8/24

Tonight was pretty much a carbon copy, it was entertaining but I think Sheffield missed a trick as Leicester can still take top spot. The Crowd again looked dreadful. -

Belle Vue V Sheffield - Mon 26th @ noon

Fair point but to be fair to Kelvin & Oliver Allen they both were clearly under the impression finishing top of the league gave the top team choice of semi final opponents and not for the first time either. I like both Kelvin and Olly but I do think presenters should have a working knowledge of the rules and the very relevant information about the current state of the teams riding. -

Because Belle Vue and Lemon are responsible for information coming out about the Aces and meetings, the match report mentions Kurtz getting 8+1 despite struggling with injury. They could have added because he struggled despite given it a go whilst injured he has withdrawn from the second leg tonight at Sheffield and BV will be operating rider replacement. As I said it’s not difficult, I might have missed it but I haven’t read anything on the BV website recently about Kurtz being taken to hospital with suspected broken ribs after crashing in Poland, I am sure I will reminded if I have missed it, it’s certainly not mentioned in the BV match preview with Lemon at pains to stress the importance of the double header. This sort of news is relevant to supporters, it doesn’t have to go into any great detail but it’s interesting that most of the news surrounding riders and teams is found on this forum and not backed up by the official websites. -

Exactly, it’s not difficult is it, Dackarna obviously think it’s important to let fans know what’s happening. It’s a shame Lemon doesn’t -

So you are saying all the BV fans who went to Sheffield for the 2nd leg knew Kurtz wasn’t riding before they travelled ? -
Belle Vue V Sheffield - Mon 26th @ noon
bigcatdiary replied to GeneralMelchett's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Yes definitely but that is one aspect f this sport that needs to seriously change as it continually annoys the core supporters, and having other websites providing information and results etc doesn’t absolve the clubs from doing it themselves. If the sport wants to improve its image it seriously needs to improve its information and integrity. Belle Vue would have known Kurtz wasn’t riding at Sheffield at the latest after they rode the first leg midday and probably much earlier, it’s deceiving the supporters and it’s about time this practice was ended. I did the PR and website news for a few years and posting results, basic news and scores takes minutes, finding out Kurtz wasn’t riding when they arrived at Sheffield is an absolute disgrace for supporters who have taken the time to travel and support their team. -

It has to be said the PR from a lot of clubs in all divisions is absolutely crap, I read on here early doors that Kurtz wasn’t riding at Sheffield and checked with the Belle Vue website which didn’t have anything about Kurtz or the preview for the match at Sheffield, this is complete nonsense and yet again fans are being kept completely in the dark deliberately by the clubs. Belle Vue despite a decent race track has one of the worst reputations for PR, with the match result from last night still not being displayed, scorers and results with a report to follow is the least that can be expected but clearly the people running BV don’t think the same. -

Exactly and that’s the one thing missing from a tv meeting again - racing. Track is shocking and looks like a ploughed field in places. It does nothing to encourage people to go and watch this crap and looking at the sparse crowd it’s working.
