Edinburgh Vs Glasgow, Friday, 12th June 2015
cyclone replied to cyclone's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Well done Tigs, you thoroughly deserved your six point win tonight and gave the Monarchs a salutary lesson in gating tonight. On the evidence of this performance I can envisage all the silverware staying in Scotland, albeit 40 miles West of Edinburgh. Nice atmosphere at the end, visiting Tigers fans cheering and Monarchs fans applauding the Stripes on their victory parade at the end -
Line-ups as per Official Edinburgh website :- EDINBURGH BORDER ROOFING MONARCHS: Sam Masters, Rob Branford, Kevin Wolbert, Justin Sedgmen, Craig Cook (capt.), Max Clegg, Erik Riss. GLASGOW ALLIED VEHICLES TIGERS: Stevie Worrall, Richard Lawson, Aaron Summers (capt.), rider replacement for Kozza Smith, Dimitri Berge, Victor Palovaara, James Sarjeant. A shrewd juggle of the Tiger riding order will ensure Richard Lawson appears in ht 8 and probably as r/r in ht 14 also. This looks like being a close run affair and the Monarchs unbeaten home record could be in jeopardy from the strong Tigers reserve pairing. Weather forecast for Friday is excellent and looks like it will be warm & sunny at the Dale for the first time this season

Newcastle V Sheffield League Cup Sunday 31st May 2015
cyclone replied to dantodan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I’ve noticed the trend on several threads that when a side are having a less than successful season, results wise, out come the doom and gloom merchants predicting that attendances will dwindle and the club will shortly close down. If this were to be the case universally, then any club finishing bottom of the pile would cease to exist and league speedway would eventually run out of clubs. For me, the main attraction is exciting racing, slickly presented in a professional fashion, then hopefully, followed by my own team being good to watch and reasonably successful. I recognise that there are some customers whose main reason for attending is to win all the time (aka glory hunters), so they will disappear when the going gets tough. My own side have previously finished bottom of the table, so I know the feeling. I remember when Cradley Heath had poor sides in the 60’s/early 70’s, but because the racing at Dudley Wood was good to watch, they still had one of the largest home attendances of any club. IMO this prolonged spell of cold and wet weather is the major factor causing decreasing numbers coming through the turnstiles. I have visited Brough Park many times since 1968 and reckon the current racing is actually more exciting than previously, and I wish that George English & Co. continue to prosper there. -
As a fan with zero mechanical nous, please don't laugh, but will the tuners not be able to expensively tweak the Gerhard engine to give their customers an advantage ?

Doubt if I could ever match your rantings on here a few years back demanding a long ban for Zetterstom when Christian Henry was injured. You never had the decency to acknowledge that Christian did not consider Magnus had been guilty of the dirty riding you alleged from your viewpoint at the opposite end from where the crash took place. As usual you try and twist things by selectively quoting statements outwith the full context to justify your warped opinions. At your time of life you should take care that the bile you spout forth does not damage your health further.

Agree an immediate match ban would not have been unjustified. Having also witnessed Garrity's on track assault of Derek Sneddon with his helmet last year, quite rightly there was no clamour for a subsequent ban for that. That Bjerre inflicted the only defeat of the night on Wolbert in his next race would also indicate that no lasting physical damage was done to the Dane by Masters irrational outburst. But predictably, the usual suspects, led by the Whitley Bay Windbag, who is still feeling sore at Monarchs continuing dominance over his beloved Diamonds, weigh in with their nasty, unsubstantiated guff.

Newcastle Diamonds V Glasgow Tiger's 25th May

Would Josh Grajczonek not be able to guest on Sunday and Ashley Birks for Rosen on Monday with r/r for the no. 1 slot ? -
It's actually a discount for online purchases. Newcastle also have a two tier pricing policy for PATG vs Online. I was told that it is more expensive to process cash handling, and was one of the reasons why online discounted prices are offered.

Be surprised if Gorzow select Craig ahead of either Karlsson or Swiderski, given he failed to score at ZIELONA GORA in an early season friendly there.

Aye just like you, rather than give any credit to the visiting team when they happen to plunder the points at Brough Park Credit to AoF for giving an honest, impartial account of events which corresponded to my own view of the incidents Praise to Stevie Worrall who rode immaculately tonight and was by far, the best rider on display. Based his performances this evening and last Friday at Armadale, he should certainly have been included in the initial GB squad for the WTC.

Perhaps Wednesday evenings (the Tigers raceday when they reappeared in 1964) under the floodlights might offer the opportunity to slot in any backlog. If Palovaara was available for some Tuesday nights, that could also be considered, given the large turnout against Sheffield.

Workington V Berwick 03/05/15 19:30 Hrs (lc)
cyclone replied to topaz325's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Given that o/s Trophy matches should be completed asap and that it would be awkward to reschedule this match between two Saturday tracks on Workington's regular race night, logistically this makes sense. I gather you prefer to ensure a home victory at all cost, rather than the visitors turn up with a full strength team Oh btw the fixture change would have been agreed to by all three clubs, not the juvenile conspiracy theory you are implying -

According to Monarchs website, their visit to Workington " has been postponed till later in the season, with the Berwick League Cup tie at Derwent Park now taking over that slot." -

Until BV are willing to make Craig their asset (i.e. pay a transfer fee), then why should their fixtures take priority over Edinburgh ? They also have Fricke on a loan deal from Edinburgh btw. -
I remember the likes of Ove Fundin used to wear a tinted visor attached to the peak of his helmet during the 1960s

Despite the near continuous drizzle, the track was superbly prepared with Cookie equalling his own track record in ht 1. The racing was top drawer with plenty passing.and the meeting completed by 9pm. Craig, Sam, Nick, and Aaron were the star turns, with ex Tiger favourite Wölbert ( ) also providing a match deciding 10 pts for the Monarchs cause. Lawson once again flattered to deceive, and I can see the highly impressive Nick Morris becoming the Tigers no. 1 very soon. Re heat 14, imo Branford kept going inside Riss too hard throughout the race with the inevitable consequence that Erik was left with nowhere to go on the 3rd bend of lap 3 when the pair were well ahead of Kozza. -

Given that rain is forecast to arrive around 8 pm, hopefully they will dispense with a parade and start the racing at 7.30 pm sharp. -

Personally think this is too close to call. Summers has an impressive record at the Dale, as does Morris who is also on top form in the EL. Lawson did ok on his last visit with Redcar in 2014, whilst Palovaara has held the upper hand against the home reserves. If either Smith or Berge start taking points off the home riders, then an away win is a possibility. -
I agree with your sentiments, the faster they go, the greater the physical damage when they crash, irrespective of air fences, body armour etc. Unfortunately I cannot see the likes of rev limiters (whatever happened to the trials that JIm McMillan was overseeing ?), etc, being introduced to reduce speed, given the stranglehold the big name engine tuners now have on the sport
