Impressed with the refurbishment of Saracen Park and the Facennas should be pleased with the healthy attendance today. Was standing on the back straight which provided a good view, the only problem being the PA was not always audible. Given that it was sunny & windy it was not surprising that it was slightly dusty, despite frequent watering. As a unit, Tigers were a well balanced 1 - 7, for whom Summers was better than I expected, whereas Lawson was not a dominant home number one. Masters was the stand out rider on show, and but for his contribution we would have been beaten more convincingly. BTW is Branford the first rider to be penalised for thoughtlessly returning to the pits prior to ht 12's re-run ? Friday's return leg should "interesting", given that Serjeant will probably be riding for Coventry instead of Tigers

Berwick V Scunthorpe (pl) Saturday, April 18th
cyclone replied to crescent girl's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
The track did appear to be well prepared last Saturday. I note that several Berwick posters on here are wishing for the rough, unpredictable surface that Waite used to prepare to ensure that visiting teams would be unsettled. Fine for those sitting at their keyboards to demand this but what about the guys (including the home team) who are putting their necks on the line every time they race. Has anyone on here sought the views of their team on whether they are satisfied with how the Berwick track is prepared ? IMO it's the shape and dimensions of the track that make passing very difficult after the bend 2, lap 1 . Nothing can be done about this because Berwick Rangers FC are unlikely to permit any changes that encroach on their pitch. Unless the Bandits move to a new venue, you are stuck with high speed gate & go -
Edinburgh V Berwick (lc) 17/4/15 @7.30pm

Not really, attendances against Berwick recently have been some of the lowest. Probably a combination of a poor travelling support and unattractive visitors. So it will be no surprise if this trend continues. -
Is Daniel King To Good To Be In This League?

With clubs in both Poland and Sweden experiencing financial problems in the "top dollar" leagues, I can understand why riders are not willing to risk riding in environments where guaranteed payment appears to be precarious. -
If Peterborough can retain Palm Toft, and continue to select superior guests for the injured Allen, then imo they could well be 2015 Champs. In Robert Lambert they have a rider who can make an impact on the PL, similar to that which Darcy Ward did with King's Lynn in his first full PL season. Add in the impressive duo of Ostergaard & Blackbird and you probably have the overall strongest 1 - 5 in the League, and they should also certainly walk away with the PL Fours on their home patch.

Hope he throws out his toys like he did in his last visit to Foxhall - 15 pt max and broke track record

Berwick V Glasgow (sat April 4) League Cup

Shielfield has never been one of my favourite tracks to watch speedway win, draw or lose. (from 1968 onwards) However I recognise your Promotion are severely constrained from making any alteration to it's shape or dimensions by Berwick Rangers FC. If there are no alternative sites nearby to create a purpose built track, then it's better than nowt. -
Given that it is the visitors who are now tracking a Select, you expect the home Promotion to reduce admission and potentially incur reduced income through no fault of their own

Kevin Wolbert to score a 15 pt max and break the track record at Ashfield on 28th March, much to the delight of all the Tigers fans who secretly admire him -
Gil Farmer iirc

It was 24th July 1937 and the actual programme cover is displayed in the Old Programme Gallery on the speedwayswapshop.co.uk website.

There have been instances where the cancelled meetings programmes have been either dumped in a skip or returned to the printers for pulping. Don't think this happens so often now as clubs are more aware that there is a resale market for cancelled meeting progs or they re-use them for the next match with a race card insert. A few clubs are able to delay production until matchday and therefore they are never printed (e.g. Peterborough). Don't know if it was a myth, but there was a story that the 1939 World Final programme was actually printed, but was never released, as WW2 was declared immediately prior to the scheduled meeting date.
