  1. Courtesy of speedwayswapshop.co.uk old programme gallery, here are images of two Bell End programme covers :- Holbeach & Spalding vs Bill Kitchen's Northern Stars (chal) 16/4/1939 http://www.speedwayswapshop.co.uk/images/bend1.jpg and Bill Kitchen's Team vs Norman Parker's Team (chal) 15/6/1947 http://www.speedwayswapshop.co.uk/images/bend3.jpg
  2. If what you are saying is correct, is not possible to rectify the hazard, or has nobody told the track curator ???
  3. I was there tonight to witness events, but first of all, I will quote the following from the Official Edinburgh website: "A second ambulance was apparently 66 miles away, though the stadium ambulance in which Kyle was being treated would only have had to travel to Whitehaven, seven miles away." I would be interested if someone from the Workington Management could confirm if this correct, and if so, explain why it was estimated it would take a least a further hour for ambulance and medical cover to resume ? The abandonment was met with audible disapproval from the main Stand, which was mainly populated by home supporters, and some visiting fans, including me. Make no mistake, whilst Howarth's well being was of paramount importance, the lack of contingency backup to continue the meeting will only drive away more frustrated fans from attending further matches.
  4. Would expect at least a 5 point swing in Comets favour this time if Deek takes to the track. Also with Fox returning from injury, will be surprised if he improves on his previous no score at Derwent Park. Poole for Morris might also yield a greater points return for the Comets. At least a six points win for Worky is on the cards this time round
  5. Some folk are getting hacked off with how long meetings can take to run, and one factor that appears to be regularly mentioned, is for racing to be temporarily suspended due to the sun affecting the riders vision. Having been a fan for over fifty years I do not recall this being an issue until recently. I do remember that during the summer months, the riders used either tinted goggles or a tinted visor clipped on to the peak of the helmet. Given that technology has advanced since the 1960s, you would imagine that there would be a suitable accessory available to combat the effect of intense sunlight. I was discussing this with a Clerk of the Course, and as far as he is aware, there is no regulation prohibiting riders from wearing the likes of Ray-Ban sunglasses when racing.
  6. Noticed that on Official Edinburgh website, it has Palm Toft guesting in place of Katajisto. Think he'll be at Coventry today riding for Belle Vue in the EL instead.
  7. With Chris Louis at BV tonight for Sky, he should get Stuart Robson to guest for Worrall in the second leg at OTA this Friday. Although Robson guested for Rebels on Friday, the 8 day rule does not apply as this is the KOC and not a league match.
  8. Ippo could do worse than sign up Nicolai Klindt to guest for Worrall at the OTA
  9. After ht 12 myself and fellow travellers were distinctly unsmug about the Monarchs salvaging a bonus point, never mind three match winning points. Then in ht 13, Sam Masters blasts round King & Lindgren on the second bend to gain a magnificent second place and the Monarchs are now only point behind. However ht 14 has the fast starting Kerr, who looks odds on favourite, but no, Mr Cool (aka Steve Worrall) surges to the front and Deek holds up Kerr for two laps and unbelievably we're one point ahead. With King & the fast trapping Robson (who had only dropped one point), and choice of gates, Diamonds must still have fancied there chance, but it was not to be as the PL's fop rider simply blew the homesters away in a re-run ht 15, in an astonishingly fastest time of the season of 62.1. One suggestion to the Monarchs management, the Fricke & Sneddon pairing is the weak link, and placing Sneddon at no.2 and Sedgmen at no.4, might provide a better balance. When Fox returns fully fit and hopefully continues to improve, then Edinburgh should still be threat to anyone, as the use of a NL guest does weaken our overall capabilities.
  10. Max Clegg is listed for Leicester CUbs, who take on Stoke at 4pm, - maybe he has borrowed a Stark Trek Transporter
  11. I was told that a rider's GSA calculation is limited to two decimal points and in the event of two or more riders having the same figure, the previous Green Sheet(s) Averages are then taken into account to determine the team order based on averages. If correct, Sneddon will be no. 5, and Steve Worrall no. 6 for Monarchs averages w.e.f. Sunday.
  12. I believe Theo was riding under the handicap of broken foot sustained at a long track or grass track event. Perhaps he would have been better withdrawing earlier. Agree not much of a contest, the best races being Andersen reeling in Worrall & Masters in ht 4, and Cook eventually passing Wolbert in ht 13. Can appreciate Tigs fans frustration with Wolbert, one race on the TS he looked useless, next time out he blows everyone away with a classy ride. Hope Paulco appreciated the Emmerdales "Smug what Me ! " cards waved in his direction
  13. Quite easy to mix up these backwaters of Suffolk & Sussex
  14. Weather forecast looks good for today. With Monarchs making the long trek back from darkest Sussex, and messrs Masters & Sedgemen having also travelling overnight on Wednesday from France, it is probably fortunate that our friends from the West do not appear to be formidable opposition. So long as the racing is up to the normal high standard at the Dale, the punters should be well entertained.
  15. Do they ever try to pump the water off when the track is flooded 12 hours prior, but the weather forecast is then favourable ? Previously when Armadale has been waterlogged on matchday,, Doc Bridgett & his track crew have pumped the water off in the morning, then relaid & graded the track, resulting in the meeting going ahead in the evening.
  16. This weather forecast looks promising for Thursday:- http://www.yr.no/place/United_Kingdom/England/Ipswich/ Re the result, Monarchs winning run has to end sometime and the Witches have upped their game recently. On that basis, expect a home win, whilst hoping to be proved wrong.
  17. Good taste in films, but I see you more resembling Jack Torrance
  18. I'm sure a visit to your local shrink will confirm your envious obsession with the Mighty Monarchs
  19. Nah, just smuggly amused with the paranoid outpourings from the Possilpark punters
  20. As does your constant paranoid sniping at anything pertaining to the Mighty Monarchs
  21. King, Robson, Lindgren, & Kerr have previously racked up decent scores at the Dale, so this could be the closest contest so far this season. It's reported that Fox will get the stitches out his thigh on Friday, so he might not be ready to resume that evening, so hopefully Monarchs have a decent NL guest lined up, if required (Nathan Greaves perhaps ?).
  22. As per Official Monarchs website:- TEAMS FOR THE PREMIER LEAGUE MATCH AT ARMADALE ON FRIDAY 16th MAY (start time 7.30, doors open 6.30) are: SCOTWASTE MONARCHS: Craig Cook, Justin Sedgmen, Max Fricke, Derek Sneddon (capt.), Sam Masters, Aaron Fox, Steve Worrall. IPSWICH WITCHES: Richie Worrall, Gino Manzares, Morten Risager, Cameron Heeps, Rohan Tungate, Adam Ellis, Ritchie Hawkins. The big question is will Ritchie Hawkins actually appear at the Dale
  23. You're not alone in this poor practice. The Monarchs when using r/r/ home & away, very rarely have a number 8 in place, which imo is sloppy penny pinching. Hope Berge & Thomsen resume asap as they are the two riders who can really boost your team's performances this season.
