  1. Speaking of sponsors, Rye are the only club I have come across who have no heat sponsors. A few years ago there was Sally Thompson who sponsored heat one followed by 14 blank spaces. Since she pulled out that column in the programme has been removed altogether allowing more space to write heat times!
  2. Mason Campton hasn't ridden for Glasgow since 2012. He remained in Australia for the whole of 2013, visa problem I expect, then signed by Workington at the beginning of this season
  3. All, apart from Mason Campton, have other clubs to ride for on a regular basis.
  4. I mentioned a possible clash several days ago. The possibility of England progressing would have resulted in a fixture either Saturday at 9pm or today same time. If Rye's fixture had been put back to this afternoon, there would have been no clash, nor one against the Danish GP and would have gone ahead due to better weather conditions.
  5. No-one has mentioned the performance of Ben Morley. How can a rider score so well for us (Lakeside) yet so poorly for you? Last night he achieved 8+2 from four completed outings. Also I want to know who is Dr. Evadne and who is Dame Hilda. I always thought John Sampford was Foggy Dewhurst anyway!
  6. Somehow I don't think Edinburgh's winning run is at risk!
  7. I didn't get back until 10.30 yesterday evening. I toyed with the idea of watching England v Italy but went for the recording of the GP instead. Great win Tai and great decision me!
  8. I had been out all day so didn't get home until 10.30. Toyed with the idea of watching the England v Italy match but, in the end, decided to watch the GP. Glad I made the right choice.
  9. GP not being broadcast live. Instead, the whole recording will be shown at 8.30am on Sunday morning then highlights at 9.30pm.
  10. On the subject of clashes, Rye House are scheduled to ride at home against Redcar on 28th June. This is part of the same weekend as the quarter-finals involving teams who progress from Group D ie., England's group. If they do qualify as runners-up (more likely if, indeed, they get through at all) the match will be played on Saturday evening, 9pm. Should they top the group, however, it will take place the same time on Sunday. Would it not make sense to see if this fixture can be re-arranged for Sunday afternoon?
  11. Speaking of arrangements, Richard Lawson and Lewis Bridger are due to be riding for Lakeside at Belle Vue on Monday. Although both are reserves, can they withdraw and what might be the implications if they do?
  12. No Adam Ellis either as Lakeside are riding the same evening..
  13. Full details here: http://www.ryehouserockets.co/news.php?extend.817
  14. Len never sacks anyone. They just fall on their swords!
  15. Signed. But where does this leave other stadiums which have been in existence before new housing estates have been built, Rye House for example?
  16. From what you appear to be saying Kennett and Lambert will have to turn out for Birmingham or have I misunderstood your post? Anyway, here is the appropriate extract from the 2014 regs.whiich, in this instance, appear to contradict themselves as highlighted. 16.1 Fixtures shall take priority as follows: FIM Speedway Grand Prix, FIM Speedway World Cup, FIM SGP Qualifying Meetings FIM Junior Speedway World Championship Meetings British Championships (Senior, Junior), BSPA Shared and Fee Events Elite League Competitions. Premier League Competitions, National League Competitions 16.1.1 A Rider must be released by a Promotion to take part in a higher priority Meeting. 16.1.1.1 In the case of a Doubling-Up Rider the priority is: 1. Original Fixture List 2. The “owning” Club (ie. is on that Team’s Retained List) 3. If there is no “ownership” then the PL Club has priority
  17. Birmingham are at Eastbourne on Saturday for an EL match. Therefore, I am surprised that Kennett and Lambert are turning out for Rye as I thought official fixtures took priority over challenge matches.
  18. The only reason I say this is that the meeting at Rye House is a challenge match and not an official fixture as defined here: 16.1 Fixtures shall take priority as follows: FIM Speedway Grand Prix, FIM Speedway World Cup, FIM SGP Qualifying Meetings FIM Junior Speedway World Championship Meetings British Championships (Senior, Junior), BSPA Shared and Fee Events Elite League Competitions. Premier League Competitions, National League Competitions 16.1.1 A Rider must be released by a Promotion to take part in a higher priority Meeting. Of course, if you are right, and I'm no expert by any means, Birmingham will be without Barker, Kennett and Lambert when they visit Eastbourne the same day for an official EL fixture and Eastbourne without Lewis Blackbird.
  19. I have been checking the fixture list expecting Rye's first home match to be the second leg of the league cup but see it is still shown as the return challenge match. Then I realise why. Those hoping for at least six Rockets on show will be disappointed. Birmingham ride an EL match at Eastbourne the same day so will have first call on Ed and Simon. Peterborough will be without Joe Jacobs (Wolves away at Leicester) and Lewis Blackbird (Eastbourne). These are not the only clubs missing riders the same day (29th March) and for similar reasons.
  20. Good start for Simon Lambert this evening. 14 from 5 rides in Kent's first leg KO cup win over Devon.
  21. I don't believe arranging skiing holidays in the French Alps has much to do with the UK border agency.
