  1. Like you I've read the UKBA website a few times and the rules changed in 2010 I think. I presume that because Tyson is coming in as an EL rider the BSPA think it's OK as it's the highest level of Speedway in this country... but... Is the fact that he's coming in as a reserve and not in the main body of the team bending the rules? If Tyson doesn't cope in the EL and moves to the PL will the law be broken because he wouldn't be riding at the top level anymore?
  2. I've just been informed on an EL thread that the NL is nothing to do with the BSPA... Can someone explain to me what the BSPA do control if not the NL...
  3. But at least they decided to play as England players - where they got their chance to play in an English League for an English team Unlike Speedway riders who ride over here because they want to ride in the UK and then ride for their own country in International competitions
  4. But he's not coming up on a 3 - it's his starting average moving straight into the EL... as an American. I would have thought that he'd start as a 4 at least...if the starting rate for foreigners fresh to the British league system hasn't changed.
  5. I was thinking that the NL are giving British riders the experience to move on to the PL - but then where do they go if we've got Americans able to join the EL on a 3 - just the same as any Brit who has 'served their apprenticeship' by riding in the NL and PL.
  6. So no Pl team want to take a chance on him on a 5 - but the El are willing to take him on a 3 -which is a strange conversion rate. Why shouldn't he be on a 4 like any other 'foreigner'. Perhaps this is just a way of getting him into the PL via a loophole in the system as I'm presuming that he wouldn't start in the Pl on a 3 if he's done an EL meeting or two...and I'm not sure how dropping down works...
  7. I'll probably get shouted down but having just read in the EL section that Wolverhampton are bringing in an American on a 3.00 I really despair. How can any talented Brits ever rise through the British Leagues when they are disadvantaged by being born a Brit and riding for British clubs before trying to get in the EL. Perhaps all young British riders should learn their skills abroad and then promoters might be interested in them - even though thy're British...
  8. Byyron didn't get the nickname 'Mr Commitment' for nothing... Hopefully bridges weren't burnt when Byron left. The inclusion of Bryon would certainly get my support
  9. Wasn't there another rider who did the same thing... the one who went back in August/September?
  10. Plymouth - like Kings Lynn ar being used as pawns in a nasty game... Kings Lynn go up to the EL to ensure Sky coverage Plymouth allowed into the PL to ensure that when Peterborough apply they can be told 'no room - no room' Last week Plymouth weren't wanted - this week they are...
  11. Would that then mean that the Chapmans have let the name of Kings Lynn go? Is the football team becoming more important than speedway? It wouldn't be Kings Lynn if a consortium ran it - it woud just be a Speedway team running home meetings on the track - nothing to do with Kings Lynn at all IMO...
  12. What amazes me is that it looks like KL will get all the help that Ipswich didn't get to allow them to say in the Elite league... Add to that the fact that if KL had refused to join the EL - as they always have said in the past - then the BSPA and Covntry and Peterborough would have HAD to sort things out for the good of the sport. Looks to me that KL have been used by the BSPA and I don't like what I'm seeing...
  13. How would KL survive if all those meetings were held at the NA? I could see you losing the Kings Lynn NL team and the PL team being supported as 'well' as the NL team are now... It could be the death of Kings Lynn...
  14. And whilst KL suddenly enjoy EL they'll be doing so at the expense of 2 EL clubs...and those EL club's supporters. I'm glad I'm not a KL supporter 'cos I don't think I'd feel comfortable with myself at the thought that other supporters were losing out rather than all the EL promotions talking things through and coming up with a compromise. It looks like KL are being used to satisfy the needs of some promoters to fix the EL how they want it...
  15. I agree P1928... Also - is PB sure that he can collect his personal belongings? They are usually held as part of the debt I thought...
  16. I know this is 'only' a forum but I'm sure that both Parsloes, myself and many others do make an effort to express ouselves in a coherent manner. Both the content of the post from PB and the handling of the English language seem to fall short of the standard expected from someone in his position... (I am aware that dyslexia causes problems for some people)
  17. This is so disheartening...Promotions using this sort of thing to hold the NDL and the BSPA to ransom. Newport have proved that having a second team can work to their advantage to enable them to find their own talent for their PL team but as soon as a few (sensible) rules are in place that they don't want to abide by they threaten to leave! I hope that today's(?) meeting of NDL promoters has a good outcome and these 'mind games' are stopped. It's so disheartening to read these sorts of comments/rumours from Newport... and is, perhaps, one of the reasons that this level of Speedway is poorly supported. If supporters are left worrying at the end of every season whether there will be a team to support why bother? If the promoters aren't supporting it positively why should supporters?
  18. Why were you allowed a guest facility? Surely by being packed up he was refusing to ride... Robert Brandford rode - and he's back off to Oz...
  19. I thought that all clubs did that...I'm surprised if they don't. Scunthorpe fixture list always includes gaps in it's fixture list reserved for any successes in any competition and it's on there from March onwards. They're website is always up-to-date and informative for supporters and visitors alike. They're running two teams but still manage to work things out - and have double headers to make running two teams more viable.
  20. Just to add that I think that it's totally unfair on the young Aussie riders who DO stay - with their machinery - until the end of the season. There are some young Aussie riders who do commit themselves fully to their team and the league and they should not be tarred with the same brush as those who appear not to do so.
  21. I have great respect for all at Buxton as you know Jayne - and I'm so pleased for Buxton that they have at last achieved the success that they deserve this season... However I do think that there needs to be some 'rule-tightening'... There is a great deal of sympathy for those with exams or who can't get transport and this can be accepted by supporters as rare events. What seems to be upsetting supporters is that machinery is being sent home before the end of the season. It possibly feels as if the riders don't care about the team or the supporters - some of whom may have been doing their only little bit of sponsoring. Perhaps there should be the 28 day penalty brought into the NDL for any rider witholding their services by sending their machinery back early, and/or leaving the team before the end of the season to go back home - but would promoters really impose this penalty? If the NDL want to be seen as a 'proper' league the rules really shouldn't be too different to the other leagues...
  22. IIRC there was a long thread about whether Mark Jones was riding over here legally or not. I think it was something to do about whether his visa was correct. If Jake and Micky were on the right visas I don't think there was a 6 month time limit. They probably left before the end of the season to get home early for the OZ season. This (to me) just shows lack of committment to a team or not thinking of the consequences of leaving a team before season end. It's well known that the season ends 31 October and it should never be presumed that any team's season will end before that date as has been shown these past couple of weeks. It is perhaps something that should be made clear by promoters to riders at the start of next season, giving this season as an example - and therefore no excuses for early departures at the end of next season.
  23. I'm not returning to the arguement about visas - there's been a long discussion about whether that rider rode legally already... You have your own 'little Ozers' who don't want British riders going over to Oz this winter to ride in their Individual meetings...
