Speedway of Nations 2024

I don't think it's a turns thing though is it? Isn't it whoever bids for it? Sweden haven't hosted SWC since 2012! Well Poland wasn't to host a competition they don't seem to be able to win? -

With BV more than likely sustaining a large financial loss, Poland and Denmark finishing nowhere, Australia being 12,000 miles away it'll be interesting to see where the SoN will be staged in 2025? Sweden? Germany? Saudi Arabia? -
I didn't think I'd be saying this at the start of the season but King's Lynn are actually worse than Birmingham, I didn't expect them to see the season out and who knows they may still not but they're just crap and you can question their team make up but they haven't had any riders walk out on them, there's no dodgy call offs, they're fulfilling their fixtures home and away. You can question the quality of their riders and management and the sanity of their owner but they're not bringing the sport into disrepute like King's Lynn are.

100%, I'm going to hand all of my posting duties over to you! No doubt, Lynn fans will argue that other teams do points 1, 2 or 3 but the difference is King's Lynn do 1,2 & 3. They not only mess other teams around but both fans of King's Lynn and visiting teams, who will also have made arrangements to attend etc. If they can't run a team in a home and away league programme, which they clearly can't, they should be expelled and concentrate on getting their own house in order with open meetings etc. And try and build up a fan base again before being allowed to return. If King's Lynn do not return to PL racing next year, it pains me to say it as I've spent many happy evenings at Saddlebow Road, nobody outside of King's Lynn would miss them.

SON 2 Belle Vue Friday 12th July
IainB replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Just watching the SoN 2 coverage on D+ Bastian Pedersen was wearing something attached to his goggles a thick day glo yellow wire attached to the strap of his goggles and the goggles itself on the right side... anybody any ideas what this was? Also, did anybody else notice the cap that Germany's Jonny Wynany was wearing on his photo captions all night? It read "F*CKING PERFECT Sane22" https://www.fimspeedway.com/riders/jonny-wynant -
I would never dream of suggesting such a thing But if you drill this one down to it's bare bones... Buster has called a meeting off, again, based on a weather forecast, again, unable to track a full team, again... only this time he's bringing in the opposition promotion to justify the decision. Could Leicester have said no?
-
That's how it's being reported... realistically do you think Buster phoned Leicester up and said, have you seen the forecast? what do you think?, Leicester have already had this postponed ... twice! They've seen a catalog of postponements, over the years, at King's Lynn and can see the writing is on the wall. It's no skin off the Leicester promotions nose (financially) whether it's run or not. Bigger picture it probably is, but no promotion looks at the bigger picture.
-
It seems to me that King's Lynn should be expelled from the league, they can't assemble a team and habitually call meetings off and that's not just this season. They're bringing the whole sport down in this country. If they want to run open meetings IoW style, fine, no objection to that but as it is they're effecting every other team in the league with their continual shenanigans!

Are those blue seats Poole fans?

And that's what you took from that post? -
So Leicester called Buster up and said "we don't fancy it"? Come on! It doesn't matter whether they "agreed" to it or not, it's the home promotion's call. I've long since stopped believing anything that comes out of King's Lynn. The Twitter post even says they've been beaten by the weather again... they haven't, they've called the match of before any weather has arrived.

They rolled the dice somewhat, with the signings of Milik, Pawlicki & Lampart a bit like Worky with Vuolas, Zischke & Liebmann. The difference is riders at Worky's level are a lot easier to take off the conveyor belt if any of them didn't perform.

And to think a few years ago when Cardiff drew crowds of around 40,000 people were talking about Wembley! -

It seems to me that Belle Vue speedway hasn't really realised its own worth in this whole deal. It's possible that WBD/FIM need Belle Vue more than Belle Vue needs them. If this year is to be the last Cardiff and if ticket sales are as bad as the last 2 years I highly suspect it will be then where else do you hold a British GP? King's Lynn? Sheffield? Bradford? Can you have a Speedway World Championship credibly without a British round? If I were Belle Vue I would have told WBD to go do one. If they wanted to see if BV could stage an SoN I would have told them that they already had in 2021 and an SWC in 2016. -

Maybe it was not shown on Eurosport to encourage ticket sales? Just guessing -

What a week! Most of it has been said already, I did it about as cheap as I could, £123 for a 4 day South Stand ticket, around £85 on fuel for 4 Leicester to Belle Vue return car trips, £0 for on street parking, £0 for a programme, I used the SGP app and around £10 for food (Aldi Salads ). The South Stand may have been Health & Safety full and a sell out, but it certainly wasn't full full. It may have been sardines in some areas but in the area I was standing it certainly wasn't sardine full. The Speedway, can't fault it, even when the track was less than perfect (for Belle Vue) it still produced some breathtaking action and the cherry on the icing on top of the cake a Team GB win, absolutely fantastic and great to be part of it live. The temporary stand though, we can only hope that this hasn't jeopardised the future of Belle Vue Speedway. Sadly we'll probably only ever know if it was a success or not by the survival of the promotion or whether any events like this ever return to the NSS. You'd think that the promotion should have had some leverage over WBD/FIM by "agreeing" to stage it as if they hadn't then basically every SoN/SWC will be held in Poland in the future which doesn't really make the competitions credible. There is probably a reason why Sweden haven't hosted these competitions since 2012! Well done GB CHAMPIONS!
