International Test Matches
IainB replied to Bavarian's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
But the whole operation has been subbed out, surely it's down to the company it has been subbed out to to stage some home test matches in conjunction with current promoters backed by their current sponsors. Maybe holding a test match series in this country would attract some new sponsors? I don't know but are there any targets set for the team GB operation? What happens if they don't meet those targets? There doesn't seem to be a threat of it being taken back in house. In fact I'm pretty sure BSPL were pretty happy to get rid of it, so they could (shortsightedly) concentrate on their own clubs. It was a great move when it was first subbed out and a great start, things seemed to have stagnated a bit off track though. Just look at the social media post in the run up to Christmas, a printed Christmas greeting and a picture of Robert Lambert with a list of the sponsors below... so what? Who cares? Scroll on by... Where's the engagement? Where's the video message from the England captain with a review of the year and looking forward on things to come, it's nearly 2024 and this should be the easiest thing in the world to produce and generate a few views for the sponsors! Things really should be pushing forwards in terms of engagement with the fans, home matches and merchandise etc -
Thought he lived in Spain or next door to it, can't think of the name of the country, Kylmaporki lives there too

Yes, 100% It's an absolute scandal really. You have to question who the GB Speedway team is run for? The riders? The Sponsors? Certainly not the fans! Whenever GB have ridden in the UK they have attracted a decent crowd. It's all well and good subbing out the national team to a private company but we hardly ever get to see them in the UK, riders are generally representing GB most weekends throughout the year and all the fan gets to see is a Twitter post, usually giving more exposure to the sponsor than the actual results and scorers. They seem to be more interested in running lottery's than putting on Speedway matches. When Team GB was first subbed out, I thought what a great idea, yes it has brought results at the top tier of the sport, but the younger riders results are pretty woeful. These 2nd and 3rd tier GB riders really need to be riding with their tier 1 colleagues in test matches to help bring them on internationally. It's doing no good them riding separately imo That's the big question in UK, who is Speedway run for? And until the promoters answer "the fans" Speedway in the UK will probably continue to decline -

It just seems to be random, wasn't working for me on anything for the last week or so but just started working today on my Samsung mobile... like I've said elsewhere, I'm not sure if the admins are still active on here, last summer during some of the TV matches the site wasn't reachable at all on occasions. I hope the admin isn't down to one person or this site could disappear altogether one day, which would be a real shame -

Tax benefits for one, not sure how foreign earnings etc. are accounted for. I just naturally assumed they'd all be limited -

I would have thought all those riders sponsored by those accountants (is it stava, or something like that) would be limited. It shouldn't really be any hassle if the accountant does all the work for a few of points of earnings. If you've got a decent accountant they'll probably pay for themselves. Chris Harris used to be limited, assume he still is. It'd be interesting to know though. -

As limited company "employees" the riders will be able to deduct £0.45 per mile (for the first 10,000 miles) and £10 per day subsistence for meals etc. And put any accommodation through their accounts as a tax deductible expense... along with any other "cost" for that matter -
Can I park in your driveway?

Maybe he meant Thursday? -
There was a piece on the news today saying that these private parking sharks are issuing around 37,000 tickets a day
-
That's good to know, thanks There are burger joints on the site though isn't there? So surely the barriers won't be down
-
"Supporters will no longer be able to park on the complex" that doesn't square with the parking policy laid out on the one stop's website. That does say it's for customers but who's checking? You don't need to scan a receipt or anything to get out do you?

Good signing for Worky, brilliant signing for British Speedway!
-
True... he needs to walk before he can run though
-
He'd get more varied experience riding at Leicester, where every bend is, erm, unique, than riding on the big flat out continental clone-a-tracks

Admire or question their sanity?

You can have it... Merry Christmas

I've looked through the 2024 fixtures several times and can't see this fixture anywhere... I'm sure it's just a simple oversight
-
Actually, last time i went to Birmingham speedway there was a young Muslim family in attendance... something I've never seen before!
-
yeah, I was looking at their website last year when I was thinking of heading over and it just says a 4 hour limit for shoppers, same as at Leicester, so as long as you're in and out within the 4 hours you should be good with the ANPR cameras
-
Can't you park at the one stop shopping centre? Isn't it like the Beaumont Leys parking limited to 4 hours?
