Plymouth Vs Berwick 8/8/23 live BSN
IainB replied to Cast1rn's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
WTF is going on with this ridiculous 5h1t pot sport? No Worrall, No Boxall... no replacements! And I thought the previous attempt to stage this was a joke! -

Wasn't the last rider to be medically withdrawn with no replacement allowed a certain Nick Morris? -
The one-eyed monster

When you put it like that it's hard to resist, I've done Auschwitz, the salt mines and Krakow... well worth spending time at... just a shame about those first 3 events when we know what the Wroclaw track can serve up But apart from probably the best world cup final in history, the emotive attractions, the lovely weather, the beautiful sights and architecture and the cheap prices what have the Poles ever done for us?

Leicester lions 2023 (PREMIERSHIP)
IainB replied to PhilTheAce's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Assuming there are still multiple leagues next year, I wonder if Leicester will be seeking a move back into the CL? Part of the reasoning in moving up was the local derby aspect, Peterborough & Wolverhampton will be gone and there'll also be new owners in place -
Why only 2 pts for an away draw? Why not 4? or 5? etc.
-
Have always thought there should be 3 points for a league win... makes the win that much more rewarding

Lions team of reserves give the Wolves a hell of a mauling!

And eating an asbestos sandwich

Schlein's "efforts" to "release" himself from under his bike while "trapped" underneath as his team were on a 5-1 reversal was one of the funniest things I've seen in a Speedway stadium... truly comical, should receive an Oscar for that!
-
Another roller blind ref tonight, Zach Cook ridiculous roller in heat 2... Schlein will be rubbing his hands together!
-
The amount of meetings I've seen this season where there has been a need for a medic to tend to a member of the crowd! A sign of the aging demographic I suppose... going to need a 3rd medical crew at tracks soon! And an undertaker on standby Jesus! There's 2 separate people fibre down, heat 1 wasn't that exciting! Hope they're both OK

Interesting post on Twitter: https://twitter.com/SpeedwayGP/status/1698281487244595332 When asked why no Manchester GP in 2024, SGP actually replied to a tweet with the answer "Contracted to 2024"... I wonder if anything can be read into that? As WBD have generally ditched all of the "Destination" tracks in favour of "Traditional" tracks

As strange as it may sound, Speedway & Cricket have many similarities and should probably be fighting for the same audience... they're both heavily effected by the weather, the participants play for many teams around the world and locally in the UK have to work around the giants of the IPL, they're both sold as "family" sports, especially the 100 & T20's. Speedway really should be looking to replicate the Cricket model

I love heavy metal music... but I wouldn't dream of subjecting a stadium full of kids to pensioners to it. You play the classics that everybody loves, proven to work, they're classics for a reason... If I wanted to listen to club anthems I'd go to a Swedish House Mafia concert. Have you heard the music they play in between overs at a T20 match? Not one "drop" to be heard... and packed stadiums. I can't think that anybody would say I'm not going because they played Sweet Caroline... but I can think of many that would be put off by the incessant thumping of the "music" they play out at such a high volume
