  1. I do feel some people are going a bit overboard on the cancelations, especially in the PL. The season does not finish until the end of October, so there's still around 6 weeks to run 4 matches. The alternative is to finish up by the end of August... and people would be complaining about that. I think it's more imperative that clubs invest in track covers more than ever, with riders not wanting to ride at the slightest site of a wet track these days, track covers would certainly allow many of the fixtures to take place when there's been the 4 o'clock shower that leaves a track saturated and the sun is out at start time. The CL on the other hand, that does seem to be a bit more shambolic with all of their competitions still having a long way to run.
  2. Revised details can now be confirmed for the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership play-offs following the postponement of Monday’s semi-final at Leicester. With the Lions’ opponents Sheffield electing to retain their regular home race night this week, the Tigers will stage what has become the first leg on Thursday September 18. The second leg of the semi-final will be at Leicester on Monday September 22, whilst Thursday September 25 will be held as a reserved date. The Grand Final will not start on this date. There is then a break for the FIM Speedway of Nations, with the Grand Final to take place on Monday October 6 (at Sheffield or Leicester) and Thursday October 9 (at Ipswich).
  3. You could argue that having top notch machinery is part of being an excellent Speedway rider and not unlucky at all. It's no coincidence that you often see the same riders with mechanical issues
  4. I'd be interested to know what you do find farcical, top 11 to qualify? top 12? top 15, so only 1 knocked out of the qualifying heats? We're trying to order the best riders, not the luckiest.
  5. It was a key point of conversation during the Wroclaw GP, Tatum & Louis were saying it had clearly been over watered
  6. A bit like Madsen should have had a wild card this year, unfortunately what should happen and what actually does happen have been 2 very different things these last few years
  7. If they don't do a Cardiff with this, it could be the final nail in the coffin as far as WBD are concerned, which wouldn't be a bad thing in my opinion.
  8. The trouble is the top 2 (especially this season) are so so so far ahead of the rest, 2 clear GP wins, that somebody, other than BK, heading BZ in the final was always going to be unlikely. A lot of riders need to take a long hard look at themselves over the winter, many of them seem far too comfortable to earn the big coin over in Poland and treat the GP's like a lot of them treat the UK as pocket money. Has the World Championship run it's course? It's no longer the biggest show in town, akin to International Football vs Champions or Premier League Football.
  9. Doyle in place of Fricke for me, although I think he's probably not got another championship in him I do think that with the way he puts himself about he'd have more of an impact in the destination of the title than Fricke would... if he could stay fit.
  10. Good words from Kurtz, didn't mention dropping a chain or sprint races just said it how it was, he lost at the end of a season and he could do no more. It must be a massive mental boost for the lad. I'm not in the BZ is the GOAT camp as I just find that a bit disrespectful to the late Ivan Mauger and Tony Rickardsson... but I'm sure he'll get a 7th and claim that title in the years to come.
  11. Great end to a poor Championship! The top 2 so far ahead of the rest it's difficult to believe. Happy that the points system didn't spoil it.
  12. Fricke taking it easy for next week and who can blame him, he's a proper club man... Captain Fantastic 😁
  13. Hackney Nawks on display πŸ‰πŸ‰
  14. Have they? They take British riders away from league fixtures on a regular basis to go and finish well down the finishing order on the continent and have only staged 2 Test Matches (both at Glasgow) in the last 5 years. They've failed to get any kind of exposure since twice winning the SoN and the only chance the fans get to hear of what's going on is by following them on social media that seems more interested in pushing the wares of their sponsors and running some kind of lottery. Yes, they're doing a better job of running the GB Speedway Team than their predecessors but you have to ask to what end?
  15. Wow! 3 replies to 1 post... doesn't seem like your bothered at all πŸ˜œπŸ˜‰
  16. I don't know if you remember but British Speedway had a tie in with some kind of celebrity talent agency for a year or two back in the 90's, you could say that they were somewhat ahead of their time with the age of celebrity we now live in but as usual it was done on the cheap so we had Hinge & Bracket at Wolverhampton once and my other abiding memory was some Marilyn Monroe lookalike on the podium with Andy Smith when he won one of his British Championships inexplicably πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ
