Plymouth Gladiators v Oxford Cheetahs 26/7/25 7pm
IainB replied to NumberEight's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
There's no meeting today in Poland... So he should be riding for Plymouth, right? -
Jason Edwards said a while back that he prefers guest bookings as it doesn't effect his average, so it must at least be on their minds.

Glasgow v Berwick Friday 25th July
IainB replied to AndiCapp's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
By my reckoning he hasn't scored a single point in his last 3 meetings (10 races) -
I hope he's done all his growing, he's turned into quite a large lad all of a sudden

Another Cook has just become available π€

Don't forget them buggering everybody else's fixtures up with spurious call offs...

Never fails to disappoint ππͺ

Agree... I'd also like to see the 4 riders names and helmet colours on screen during each race... also they're a bit quick to end the show, I'd like to see an updated league table at the end of the meeting

Can't wait for the coin toss... highlight of the night π

Is It Finally Time For One League?
IainB replied to TheSmiler's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I think we'll have to agree to disagree on this one, it's probably all academic anyway as I suspect it'll very much be business as usual next season with another club forced up to be whipping boys all season. -

I agree with most of what you've posted above... with the exception of fixed race nights. It's only getting worse with Poland, Anders Rowe missing for Poole at Redcar tonight, which they Poland have no right to make him "be available", he's not even named in their team at the moment. Poland also tried to run on our KO Cup dates. It doesn't matter what format of Speedway you put out if the fans aren't available to attend, you only have to look at the PL crowds at a reasonably successful Leicester on a Thursday compared to their CL crowds on a Saturday. Belle Vue, reigning champs, woeful crowds on a Monday night. Lowly Plymouth, crowds up on a Saturday night. -

Morris has already signed for Berwick from the start of August -

Business as usual then? And just plod along until the inevitable happens? Working around Poland and riders that prioritise test sessions and U24 matches ahead of the UK? -

And Nick Morris is on his way back to Berwick... as long as he steers clear of Leicester someone else can have him. -

13 opponents is 26 matches 1H1A, throw in a cup competition and that's a minimum of 26 matches, a cup run and pay offs takes that to around 30. Maybe bring back a 4's... which were always popular meetings and you're starting to put a credible season together. -

Not on day one, there is no magic wand overnight fix though, Speedway has been run into the ground over the course of the last 40 years, it's going to take time to rebuild. -

We are where we are though, unfortunately, and sooner or later something radical will need to be done and each passing year they keep rinsing and repeating the existing output makes the chances of any radical change succeeding less and less likely. -

Yes, but, Leicester's achiles heel might rear is head again if/when the weather turns come play off season, as they don't seem to be able to adapt quickly enough when the track is anything out of the usual at home, as shown again on Monday vs Sheffield... And it still remains to be seen whether Luke Becker's injuries have healed enough for him to make a return to the UK when he's back on track again, if you know what I mean! -
