  1. Back in the day when it used to be Speeway Star vs Speedway Mail the 2 headline photographers used to be Mike Patrick for SS and Ken Carpenter (I think) for SMI. For me even though SS was a magazine and SMI a newspaper the photo's from Ken Carpenter were far superior in clarity than Mike Patricks and even more so when SMI went to a magazine format. For some reason though it was Mike Patrick that got the notoriety... just shows what a silly pair of trousers and a bit of showmanship can do!
  2. Is this the same Rob Godfrey that has been at the helm since 2019 and for whatever reason has seen the demise of Rye House, Somerset, Swindon, Lakeside, Newcastle, Workington, Buxton, Cradley Heath, Eastbourne, Isle of Wight & Stoke since the end of the 2018 season... surely the most disastrous chairmanship of anybody in the history of sport. I'm not sure he's the man for the job personally
  3. Can't see Chris Harris being too impressed with this... not only has Schlein come back and stolen his team place but he'll also be taking a lot of his guest bookings which Bomber almost single handedly took on last season
  4. Don't worry they might get to see him as a "home" rider in the pay off final... if this year was anything to go by
  5. I think if there's asbestos present it's not just a case pf taking a wrecking ball to things. It has to be disposed of in a controlled manner... which will cost
  6. Because generally it was all a bit crap. Long drawn out meetings, sun delays, tractor racing, a crap track and a p1ss poor team. While much of that still applies, the team has been successful on track since the arrival of the special one, and the track has improved immeasurably
  7. I could see quite a competitive league of Wolves, Ippo, KL, Peterborough, Leicester, Poole & Glasgow... not much between that lot imo
  8. I was genuinely asking, I don't know the exact answer, the point is, for me, it seems too many. I think Leicester and Poole would have given Peterborough and Lynn a run for their money last season
  9. But we already know Dan Bewley has signed... where's the reveal in that? I hope you all look suitably surprised when he takes his Santa beard off... ho ho ho
  10. Whilst trying to avoid a hit and run from the golf buggy that can't wait a few minutes for the crowd to clear. I'm genuinely surprised somebody hasn't been seriously injured!
  11. Didn't King's Lynn used to also before their centre green was concreted... used to be protected by giant tractor tyres, or am I thinking of Eastie?
  12. Always sounds a bit like grave robbing when you hear news like this
  13. Maybe the case when the leagues are almost the same strength but if there was a clear difference between the leagues it may be a different story... having said that Poole always had healthy home crowds when they were in the 2nd division before but I think they do get a good "holiday" crowd
  14. Fortunately we have 4 months to forget about it, time being a healer and all that. You would have hoped the promotion would have come up with a big marquee signing to entice fans along, showing that this time they mean business... as good as he is, I'm not sure Max Fricke is that signing.
  15. Wasn't aware of that... ok, the church hall at the bottom of my street then, just a mile from the stadium and they rent it out for about £50. They should have done something instead of selling the fans down the river!
  16. In my experience heat 1 is often one of the poorest of the night unless you're excited by potential track records
  17. It'd be interesting to know who is assembling the team, SD or the Bates?
  18. Bomber seems to be a master of the dive bomb down the home straight into turn 1... doesn't really matter how he goes at Beaumont Park though as we'll be racing our matches at King's Lynn next season, seeing as though it is our "home" track... and Bomber loves Lynn
  19. Should have moved up to the PL, after all you did "win" the league title
  20. I think it's fair to say that there is not a rider shortage... but there are a shortage of riders that want to ride in Britain. If there weren't there wouldn't be uncontrolled doubling up. If riders do want to ride in Britain but promoters are choosing to go down the doubling up route instead then that is a recipe for disaster
  21. I think "offensive" words are handled automatically by a banned words list, probably administered by the forum platform owners. If you're referring to "ladies of the night" it brings a whole new meaning to the "rider of the night" award
