  2. Good game that, I don't know how Poole keep doing it but fair play to them they do. Riss & King big let downs, Jake Mulford kept the Bears in it, really hit some form. Why on earth we were looking at a flashing white light when it was kicking off between Wright & Worrall god only knows! Super Speedway!

  4. Pretty special wasn't it in an otherwise pretty unspectacular meeting. Great team performance by the Lions and judging by their comments after the meeting most of them weren't very happy and there's a lot more to come. Where are the people that were calling for Max to be replaced at the beginning of the season after 2 or 3 matches?
  5. You would have hoped wouldn't you, all you've got now is 1 happy group and many unhappy groups. Got to get these kids in!
  6. For some reason they're doing a draw on the centre green for a competition to allow a scout group or football club etc. in for free. I have to ask why is it a "competition draw", surely they should be getting all of these groups in for free at some point during the season, these are potentially the next generation of fan, beggars can't be choosers!

Don't forget you're talking to somebody here who saw his team win the 2019 CL and the club did absolutely nothing with it in the way of marketing it to the general public, let alone their own fans... home fans never even got to see the trophy! And a fan who followed his team in the league and was expected to travel over to KL to watch his team ride in their "home" leg of the pay off final and a fan who followed his club around the country supporting them in their quest to win the Jubilee Trophy (Summer Trophy) and is still waiting for his team to ride in the final of that competition! With all due respect to Guy Nicholls, who I don't know, but I suspect he was a Speedway fan and has pumped money into the club by the way of sponsorship because of that, a Speedway fan that has built a successful business? If there really was a tangible benefit to sponsoring a Speedway club bigger companies than his would be queuing up to sponsor riders & clubs, companies that are not fans of the sport but can see a clear and tangible benefit on sponsorship... unfortunately they're more of a man with skip variety of company and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that and I'm not knocking those who do come forward with sponsorship, there would probably be no Speedway without them. You say it's sport, that's what it's all about... is it? Is it a sport? When the captain of your team is riding for all and sundry and your manager is managing another club and your owner/promoter owns/promotes another club... is that a sport? For it to be a sport it has to have integrity, speedway has absolutely none bar from 4 riders racing 4 laps against each other, it stops as soon as they leave the track.
  9. I remember seeing Sam Ermolenko turn up at Long Eaton once in his van and half the american team and a load of others getting out the back of his van... and they used to have a guy patrolling the car park to make sure nobody was sneaking in over the fence on the back straight lol
  10. I think the point is what is the point in winning the title in tangible benefits? Are BV's crowds significantly up this year, is there blanket media coverage every time they ride? What was the prize money they won? Extra sponsorship gained? They just got a pot in the cupboard and an entry in the history books, which is ok for the likes of a village cricket team... but a professional sports club?
  11. Jesus Christ! Even team managers are doubling up now! So we now have a sport where Promoters, Riders & Managers all double up... just when you think any more sporting integrity can't be lost, it happens again!

  15. Could be fun and games tonight judging by the state of the track prep. They said in commentary there were serious doubts about this GP taking place last week, the track looked a mess when they started and it was a bit of a disaster track last year. The track preppers didn't really seem to know what they were doing. Dan Bewley consistently fast in practice sessions and with Jack Holder qualifying P2 and being a 2 time finalist this year you have to wonder how long we would have to have waited to see those 2 riders in the GP's if it hadn't been for the exclusion of the 2 Polish Russians.

In a properly structured league those 0's & 1's in the CL would be 1's & 2's. I wonder if any analysis is carried out year on year to see if the strengths of the leagues are right to aid progression and development?
  17. Judging by the fact that it's now June and he still doesn't have a team suit or team bike covers you can't help but think it can't be long before he's replaced.
  18. Not sparse but well down on last year's Saturday nights. It's amazing isn't it, in what other sport could you walk around brazenly wearing the colours of Coventry, traditionally Leicester's fiercest rivals, and be Leicester "fans"
  19. I think the point is Leicester weren't due at Peterborough on that date, the club switched with Sheffield
  20. Totally agree... Looks like at the time it was an extra pay day for him, so why not take it. It seems once you've entered you're locked in until you're knocked out, so for the club to then switch fixtures and then not really explain why their captain was missing was a bit naughty imo.
  21. As they're riding at the moment, I'd fancy Lions over 2 legs against anybody! Up the Irons
