  1. The track was a bit slick, nothing out of the ordinary though... i think it was more of a matter of the tyres not lasting even 1 race rather than them running out of them. If you've ever seen them piled up around the back of the NSS you'll know the kind of quality they are... Fortunately I didn't make the round trip from Leicester to Belle Vue for this one (I did!)
  2. Ref in the pits at the interval, assume he's talking exploding tyres! Ref now heading back to the pits for more tyre talk. Sweet Caroline playing over the PA to keep the crowd "entertained" In 45 years of attending Speedway I've never seen a tyre disintegrate, blow and hit the following rider... at least they're cheap
  3. That's probably for the general discussion section... I put it in here specifically for the Speedway angle. If admission prices track inflation we're looking at £20-£25 next season I would guess.
  4. I'm surprised nobody has started this thread already. Maybe we're all trying to ignore it, but unfortunately with Fridays price cap announcement it's all got very real. After British Speedway seems to have ridden out Covid remarkably well the next existential threat is looming and that is the crazy energy prices. Fortunately the sport closes down over the winter but I suspect the problem is still going to be there next spring. What is Speedway's answer going to be? What should it be? Should clubs be looking to run Saturday & Sunday afternoon to save using the floodlights? Will the stadiums that clubs ride in still be able to run? They are all questions for the clubs, for the punter though, how much are you willing to pay to watch your Speedway when money is going to be so tight?
  5. Try telling that to your car insurance company!
  6. Even your username annoys me... can't you change it to ONONEMINUTE? There's really no reason for 2 minutes, especially for restarts
  7. How long to actually run the heat though, if you're removing the rules it'll be carnage and every race could take several attempts to run, not to mention the atrictian rate of the riders... every race could be like Lawson vs MPT (even though Lawson was clearly at fault)
  8. Snipped from another thread... so Dougy MUST be riding! 02.2.8 Promoter / Associate Specifically, the staging Promotion is responsible: - a) to never advertise an event in a misleading manner; not to classify a meeting as an ‘International’; or ‘British Championship’, except with prior BSPA permission, nor ever use ‘Grand Prix, World Cup or World Championship titles’
  9. Look at VAR in football... i don't think it's added anything to the game
  10. To be fair they did post it on Twitter: https://twitter.com/SpeedwayGB/status/1563632925299527680 I fail to see how it was a fabulous night for British Speedway though, it was a fabulous night for British Riders. ... and have you seen the results from the European pairs championships last night? Literally, have you seen them, can't find them anywhere.
  11. There's always somebody at fault... it's just a matter of who it is in the refs opinion, that works fine for me
  12. £30! I can have the heating on for an hour at that price!
  13. Why do these Discovery clowns seem unable to play ANY video clip without accompanying it with "music"... it's SO annoying!
  14. And furthermore, those existing rules are complete baloney! Look at a) and b) how many times has a meeting been misadvertised? And you turn up and pay your money to get in and the absence of an advertised rider is announced on parade. Did the Peterborough track receive "timely and adequate preparation" on Thursday night? No point having rules if there is no penalty for not adhering to them
  15. Current rules obviously aren't working no matter how much you quote them or try to apply them to my "suggestions". Of course economics are part of it but the current rules have dragged the sport to the current level it is... how about this for economics, the fans have stopped going because they'll make their own minds up about the weather situation and the state the track will be in because every club is doing their own thing.
  16. That is the "before" photo... but yes the track staff did do a tremendous job!
  17. Anybody have any idea at all when the Lions are riding at BP again?
