  1. very good Seriously though, I remember... Joe Owen, Ray Bales and Bob Garrard all turning out for Leicester, all prospects in their day at the time they rode for the Lions, so it's not a new thing
  2. Of riders on their way "up" in the sport I'd say: Tom Brennan, Jack Thomas, Josh Pickering, Leon Flint, Drew Kemp, Ryan Douglas and Jordan Palin, although JP has be "rested" by the Panthers
  3. Typed all of that out and didn't think to get your grammar correct 2 percentages, "rough and ready"
  4. That's fair enough then I suppose Who's asset is he, do you know?
  5. I seem to remember him putting us out of the Cup in our Championship winning season by winning heat 15 against Nicholls. I've just done a rough and ready analysis based on the 1-7's (sometimes 1-6) declared on clubs website's and there are 78.5% of PL riders doubling "down" to CL and 20% of NL riders doubling up to CL... quite frankly, that's ridiculous, in an ideal world there wouldn't be any doubling down, but we don't live in that world but those numbers should be a lot nearer 50% for NL riders in my opinion. In that 20% of NL riders doubling up are riders such as Dan & Joe Thompson and Alfie Bowtell who you would class as established CL riders, maybe there should be 1 space in an NL team available for a senior rider to act as a kind of mentor but no more than that. Cub Connor Coles has yet again been passed by for this afternoons match at Newcastle to ride in the reserve berth in favour of Jason Edwards, performance wise, probably makes sense if you want to maximise every points paying position in the team, for your own clubs rider development makes no sense at all. which unfortunately for you counts for nothing
  6. Yes, did see that, fortunately i was stood away from the dust, so wasn't too bad for me, you probably got more of it in the pits .
  7. Well... i gave it until heat 7 then had to go home due to tractor sickness. Much as I suspected, NDL is a terrible spectacle around BP and what the Thompson twins are still doing wasting their time in that league for I'll never know. Don't get me wrong, if that's your thing fair enough and I'm sure the kids are putting great effort in, but it needs to be run in its own right. Why we're being asked to subsidise it by having it forced on us as part of the senior team ticket I also don't know as when they've had the opportunity to promote from the cubs they've neglected to do so both times. Senior match was pretty good though, close scores, good racing but the track was a little too dusty. (Very dusty)
  8. 1st match took 2 hours on the bob. 40 mins track prep for the 2nd match and we're underway at 21:10... I've got to be out of the supermarket car park by 22:15, not a chance I'll see the end of this. They even gave a warning about the supermarket car park over the pa... oh the irony. Not sure if there's a 22:00 curfew anyway.
  9. We are talking about the outfit that runs Eurosport don't forget
  10. We're 1 heat down after half an hour, the tractors are currently out on the track... with a sun delay looming, this could run into tomorrow
  11. He did say it was a "quess" which i guess is a guess
  12. Just makes you wonder what the point of a Cubs team is? That we're being asked to support tonight. What is the point of the Cubs team?
  13. Hmm... this year is Connor's 10th in the sport, so is probably due a testimonial, he's 28! I don't want to do the lad down but i don't think he's going to "make it". For me, Connor and riders like him should not be riding in NDL teams but should be riding in the main body of CL teams as a good club journeyman, instead CL teams prefer to use PL riders. Connor is not one for the future... he's one for now.
  14. I don't know there are any such things as assets in speedway these days unless you're referring to the tractor equipment and air fence There were a group of asian muslims at the Brumb vs Leicester match, which was refreshing to see. If Birmingham and Leicester could tap into the Asian populations in their cities all their problems would be over. Imagine if their was an Asian rider for them to follow! I've seen a couple of Asian lads at Leicester but considering the ethnic population is the majority that's a pretty poor turnout. Birmingham's promotional activities seem to be aimed at kids or fans of Cradley or Coventry. I'm not sure what Leicester's promotional activities are... as far as I've seen it's nothing!
  15. Connor Coles the Lion Cub looking to progress into the senior team who will already be there to ride in the 2nd half of a double header to save costs?
  16. Because it's not their property... it's like you coming round my house and putting cameras up... I know you like to follow me but I'd draw the line at that
  17. Chrome/Edge with add block plus extension = zero adds
  18. Where's you nearest airport? Get yourself over to Czestochowa v Torun on Sunday, could be there and back for the price of a trip to Leicester! I've always wondered what the benefit of top notch equipment is to riders. Personally I would have thought a rider would get a better performance increase by becoming a better rider rather than riding better bikes. It's a bit like the question always asked in F1, is it the car or is it the driver? How much percentage would you attribute to rider and bike? On a neutral track how many times out of 10 would, for example, Joe Thompson on a rocket ship beat Tai Woffinden on a donkey? The Peter Craven Memorial meeting at BV in March attracted a near sell out crowd on a Monday night with a pretty attractive line up, the racing was generally not great. Last years meeting was held on a Saturday night in October with an average line-up had some brilliant racing and wasn't more than half full... I'm not sure what tells us? Maybe it was the chance to see some riders that we don't normally get to see? The rider pool in the UK at the moment is so small I half expect to bump into Chris Harris on the tills in the local supermarket! Back in the day, you'd most likely get 1 chance to see Ivan Mauger ride at your track in the season and if you missed it, that was it, you'd have to travel or wait until next season.
  19. At Leicester they definitely would, the promotion seem to want to put minimum effort in for minimum reward
  20. These days, less is often more, the success of T20 cricket shows this and then they went even lesser with The 100, even Golf is at it now with a 54 hole tournament with all the players teeing off at the same time... where as Speedway seem to want to artificially extend a meeting to beyond 2 hours by using tractor racing as a distraction as they think that punters will feel short changed if they've not had 2 hours "entertainment"
  21. Never seen Drew do any good anywhere... but you're right he did impress, at last, at Leicester earlier in the season
  22. They could do with a stream on the track! Was like this last week against Leicester... boring
  23. No issues for me either, ever. I've only got a 50mb Virgin Media connection
  24. It's probably been posted elsewhere but there's some Swedish Speedway on Freesports at the moment, repeated at 4am tomorrow morning. Danish speedway 6pm Wed 8/6, maybe repeated 9/6 01:30 am Swedish speedway 14/06 6pm
