  1. Could explain the decline in the crowd levels at the EoEA... Alien abduction of the fans
  2. OK, you're getting into the realms of fantasy now... how about an alien invasion on the Saturday morning? You know that 99% of Speedway's "problems" with postponements/abandonments is weather related any thing else is force majeure. And as for point 2 you're applying the current rules to the new rules I would have in place, which is non-sensical.
  3. Were the juniors abandoned after the main meeting? I stayed for the first couple, well lap 1, bend 2 of the rerun of heat 2
  4. I wonder if the ref carries a light meter like the umpires in cricket? Bad light stopped play... and the cricketers go off for bad light when when the ground has floodlights!
  5. give it a go, I think you may be surprised and you have pretty much free roam when you're up there with the current crowd levels
  6. Should have gone down to the pits... helpfully the PA wasn't working
  7. Not looking for an argument... but why would you pay £62/£70 for a middle tier ticket when you can get a top tier ticket for £22.50? I've sat in both sections and I'd say because of the steeper angle of the top tier you get a better uninterrupted view imo.
  8. I can't understand why there is not a league policy regarding postponements and cancelations as it's such a contentious issue. Just in the last week or so we've had Poole vs Redcar doing everything to get a meeting on, KL calling a meeting off over 24 hours in advance based on an incorrect weather forecast of just showers, Plymouth cancelling in front of a packed crowd without a wheel being turned and Peterborough running last night when in all probability they should have cancelled. There is just no consistency. I posted my previous thoughts about a cancellation policy that should be adhered to so everybody knows where they stand. Now I've had a proper chance to think about it, this is probably what I should have posted: 1 No meeting to be called off until the day of the meeting (9am, 10am whatever... not a day or days in advance) 2 The meeting should be called as "on" or "off" 90 minutes before the start time at which time the ref, both team managers and both team captains have passed the track as "fit for racing for the scheduled start time". As long as there is no more "weather" in the next 90 minutes the meeting should commence at the scheduled start time or the fixture is abandoned or run as an unofficial fixture and some kind of points penalty awarded.
  9. Has anybody seen these "ladies" race at all? What's the standard like? How many are there?
  10. I did say... or something like that, one thing is for sure you should not be allowed to call a meeting off until 10am on the day of the meeting at the earliest
  11. Not quite sure why this HAS to be run tonight?
  12. You've forgotten one slightly important thing in your list... the fans! This should have been called off at 10am. End of!
  13. All the dirt currently being bladed off the track while the ref watches on... riders not even changed into their racing gear! Can't hear what's being said over the PA as it ain't working down at the pits!
  14. Nothing to do with economics... the club have 2 opportunities to call the match off, if it's not called of by 6 they are committed to run. Look at the effort Poole put in last week to get the Redcar match on, Danny Ford said on the podcast that if it had been a "normal" match (ie. they hadn't put so much effort into promoting it with the Council being present) then they would have probably just called it off... and that says a lot about the current day promoter!
  15. I want to see Shovvy in a match race against Katie Gordon... I'd travel down to Wimbourne Road and pay good money to watch that!
  16. This is why the sport as a whole needs a call off policy... no call offs prior to 10 am on the day of the match, if you don't call it off at 10am you then can't call it off before 6pm... or something like that
  17. Except for the Women taking part in the sport... Do you have any video links to the same moves played out in Poland every week?
  18. This is the problem when a club has a track record of calling matches off on weather forecasts... Fans don't know where they are when there has actually been some substantial rain. Couple that with the riders attitude when the track is slightly wetter than usual and it throws a lot of doubt over the suitability of running the match. I'm planning on travelling over from Leicester for this... have serious doubts though, especially after watching the goings on at KL and Plymouth this week.
  19. Should set fire to the track like they did at Plymouth the other night!
