  1. How many millions did Mr Murdoch hand over to Speedway? And where did it go?
  2. If you're looking for enthusiasm on these forums, you're looking in the wrong place... even in the best of times It'd be like going to Ippo every week with their no air horns policy
  3. Followed by a trip to the toilet during the next break?
  4. Not to mention most of the BBC turning the lights out and going home... while introducing the licence fee for over 75's and producing much reduced output
  5. Time will tell on that front, but he's certainly well capable of scoring points in the Polish league
  6. You should try watching it on delay and FF all the delays... it's unwatchable live for me, life's too short to watch endless replays while waiting for the next race. Also, on another point, I hope Sheffield fans enjoyed watching "3 Lap Nicki", he's completely uninterested in anything other than winning in team matches, been like this for years
  7. At the risk of offending Belle Vue fans, from what I've seen of Dan Bewley so far, he's nothing special (yet!). Yes he can be amazing around Belle Vue, but I've seen him at many other tracks and he's never stood out as being anything special to me. He's been found out in Poland, compare him to Jaimon Lidsey, I think Dan needs to move away from Belle Vue to further his career, somewhere between Manchester and Poland.
  8. You're probably at more risk of being hit in the face with shale than getting Covid19, so perhaps those full face visors should be mandatory... 2 birds, 1 stone
  9. Don't Panicz! Don't Panicz! I assume Chris Holder is otherwise engaged? And with the inclusion of Panicz (whoever he is) it looks like Dan Bewley's Polish adventure is over unless he's named as No 16. Fricke's days must also be numbered unless he pulls his finger out this weekend.
  10. It pains me to say it, but with the noises coming from the government about team sport "bubbles", I now can't see a British Speedway league starting this year
  11. It doesn't matter what rules you put in place if you don't enforce them. Personally I would like to see a line across the track 1m to 2m from the tapes where riders can't enter until under starters orders, green light, approach the tapes.... GO!
  12. I find it great entertainment... I suggest you make yourself a bingo card and sit down with your dobber in your hand and mark off all the different ways to mangle up Woryna's name... Verona, Veroyni, Veroni I always wonder how he introduces himself... probably just Sam, to be safe
  13. That's good to hear... crowds have never really been that good though for SEC in Poland
  14. Any idea what the crowd attendance was last night? It looked pretty sparse to me, well short of the 25% capacity, especially surprising on a public that have been starved of live sport for so long. The Poles seem to give the SEC the thumbs down for some reason, not sure why? I wonder what the attendance would be like should a round ever be held in the UK? I think I'd go along to view a few riders I'd never seen before.
  15. Is Hans Andersen still owed £50,000 by a previous Peterborough promotion? Didn't Lambert used to wear one of those inflatable crash suits? I don't know if he still does... may explain his lean look?
  16. Have you any idea how much a 2 minute clock costs? Maybe they could do like they did with the track covers and ferry it about between clubs... come to think of it, whatever happened to the track covers? Maybe it's with Colin Meredith's elastic band starting gate mechanism replacement kit
  17. I've been watching the "rewind" meetings on the British Speedway YouTube channel... I thought it was quite comical watching last night's Coventry vs King's Lynn match from 2011 with riders seemingly attached with invisible elastic to the tapes as they kept rolling backwards and forwards to and from the tapes... And the week before Danny King quite clearly exceeded the 2 minutes time allowance before the first running of the final... Like in society at the moment once you let these little things go anarchy soon prevails
  18. I know it can't be helped... but isn't it ironic that the BSPL went with the Eurosport TV deal to attract Polish viewers & sponsors and we in Britain all end up watching Polish speedway on Premier TV
  19. From what I've seen so far (on Premier/FreeSports)... there has been some close racing, no more than British Speedway though IMO, there was a close last heat decider last night but ironically the racing wasn't up to much. It's probably the atmosphere that makes it, when the stadiums are full, I watched the footy last night, the first half with "canned laughter" the second half with actual stadium noise and it really was "a game of 2 halves". You can include in the atmosphere, for a TV broadcast at least, the commentator and as with everything else, that's personal opinion... some people on here even watch it with Polish commentary!!! I do feel he's been given a tough job to do on his own... Tonder and lightening did make me laugh out loud though I think the tractor racing Mike is referring to are the track grade/watering breaks which seem to happen for 6 or 7 minutes after every 3 or 4 heats. I must admit I can't say I'm too keen on the race format in the Polish league, the riders seem to come out in different pairings for every race. This can't lead to great team riding and I wonder if this had anything to do with the Lambert/Lebedevs clash the other night. Also, from what I've seen on the UK coverage, the riders don't seem to have much personality, with the exception of Leon Madsen who actually turns to the camera and interacts... we often see the back of a riders helmet as he rushes over to the TV to watch how brilliant he's just been
  20. Did it even rain do we know? Nobody knew if it actually rained when the last round's matches were called off a day prior
