With any luck this Coronavirus will see the end of Brandon Estates

Maybe 2 metres wouldn't be needed if face masks are worn, I don't know
-
Didn't he leave his window open because the dog farted?!?

If the wearing of face masks in public becomes compulsory there maybe a way to resume. Everybody is so much more aware now what's needed to suppress the spread of this virus... Of course we're not being told to wear face masks in public yet probably due to the fact we haven't got enough but I think it will happen
-
Bringing this back to Speedway and with the prospect of the lock down being lifted in the coming weeks I wonder how well British Speedway is placed to resume sooner rather than later? If, as looks likely, there will be a phased return there are many issues that the sport faces. What if it's a geographical return? What if it's an age demographic return? What if physical social distancing is still required? How will medical cover be provided? What if a rider gets injured? I wonder if clubs have a plan to mitigate these possible restrictions? Do clubs have contactless admission payment systems? There's probably many more issues, that's just a few for starters

You're right there is no true evidence, a bit like the consequences of Brexit, some think it'll be a dawn of a new golden era other's think it'll be the end of the country, truth is we just don't know until it happens. The difference with this pandemic though is that there have been scientific models done based on good data, taking me back to one of my original posts in this thread regarding the BBC Pandemic program that aired a couple of years back and certainly got my alarm bells ringing when all this kicked off. That model said that if the whole country suffered a "standard" flu pandemic with a mortality rate of 1% and no action taken there would be around 500,000 deaths, that was based on "standard" flu where symptoms show within hours of you catching the virus, as we know it can take a couple of weeks for this virus to present and although we don't know for sure the mortality rate seems to be a lot higher than 1%... so add half a million for every percentage point increase in mortality rate

All media should be handed over to the people that do Glasgow's... they're on a different level

What strikes me about watching races from different era's on a thread like this is the way the bikes grip the track. In the yesteryear clips the bikes seem to be sliding around on the tracks a lot more than the 100% grip 100% of the time bikes of today... yet a lot of people say the tracks aren't grippy enough these days -

Wow! ... but what did he call him at the 19 second mark? -
All that paint is going to be needed for the cover up when all this is over and there's an inquiry on how the virus was let in the country, allowed to be spread and why there was not enough preparedness or equipment when pandemic has been at the top of the government's "risk" list for decades. Keep making the paint they're going to need a lot!

I accept differences in opinion, it's what this forum is all about. What I WILL NOT accept is personal abuse.

I want to have out that you've called me an imbecile, a cretin, and even had a go at me about me not "banging" on about watching my dad die from Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. Where do you want to do this?
-
If you're referring to this cretin, then I'm sorry to have to disappoint you in the fact that I haven't mentioned this topic on any other thread. You are one sick individual. In fact I suggest we meet up once this is over and we can have it out. Perhaps we can do it for charity? I'll donate to the SRBF, you can donate to your favourite flu charity. I'm in Leicester, where are you?
-
They were probably telling each other that the flu kills more people every year!
-
There are some people on this forum that won't take it seriously until the death toll passes that of seasonal flu... by which time of course it's all too late. I just hope that they are in a tiny minority. A balance has to be made between informed information and a little bit of hysteria, fear is (rightly) being used to make people act, "social distancing" etc. Of course there are people who have higher fear thresholds (speedway riders a prime example)... and then there are the plain stupid and you just won't be able to reach them, which is where enforced lock down comes into play.

He's clarified what he meant, he's said it felt like a joke (as in surreal) not that it is a joke or he's laughing about it

You'd hope that Branson would dip into his $4 billion to help folk out wouldn't you? If he were to divide his fortune amongst his employees each one would receive $466,690... probably enough to see them through
