  1. 15.2.6 Only if a Poole rider is at the Starting Gate with sufficient time remaining of the 2- minute allowance, be permitted to prepare their Start Area, provided they remain in full, personal control of their motorcycle, have their Cut – Out Lanyard attached, their Poole race jacket on and with their motorcycle facing the direction of racing.
  2. The poles have only been number 1 twice in the history of the sport... I wonder when their fans will cotton on to this? Greg Hancock 2016 Best British Name caller Best British ever
  3. I seem to remember Per Jonsson being quite an average rider in the league in 1990 and his world championship came as quite a surprise, it was certainly the making of him though and took him to another level
  4. I agree that Tai would have found it harder to win pre 95 not because he wouldn't have been good enough though but because it could have all been spoilt by a dodgy referring decision or a mechanic forgetting to turn the fuel on
  5. I don't get what you're saying... By that token you're basically saying whoever won the first GP should be world champion! Who won the first GP? I get what you're saying about pre 95 though
  6. You're right, he's rubbish... Don't forget it took him 27 years to win his first crown
  7. And I thought we'd reached a low point with last years relegation play off, with riders riding for the same teams! British Speedway is the gift that keeps on giving
  8. We've obviously read his original post in different ways... Perhaps he'll clarify what he meant by he keeps getting told riders are so skillful riding full throttle on slick tracks with a nice little air fence and wanting things changed when they're obviously to dangerous (ask Craig Cook) and I can apologise and we can move on
  9. Unofficial thread up to 45 pages now... Don't people know they're in the wrong place!
  10. I didn't like your post I thought it was insulting to modern day riders, who are riding faster than ever before
  11. Top infer modern day riders are less skillful because there's a nice little air fence is ridiculous
  12. His original post was implying that today's riders have it easy and back in the day the dangers in the sport were greater, not true, Darcy Ward the most talented rider I've ever seen now in a wheelchair in the era of air fences... I found his original comments most deplorable
  13. We'll never know about Havvy in a GP in 92, so we'll just have to go with the fact he won the championship. As for wildcard Vs qualifiers, personally I just think there are too many wildcards and it's to open to opinion, at least if you've qualified you've done it on merit Comments like "nice little air fence" do not help your cause
  14. I wouldn't say I'm surprised, more disappointed, no need for 5 (Inc meeting wildcard) 3 is enough to allow for injury, leaving 5 for quali Except when it mattered most
  15. I watched Havvy in all of his qualifiers in 92 and he was easily the best in the world in 92 and it came as no surprise to me he won it I think he did... But they have been handing out wild cards for around 20 years now and that's the only one that springs to mind. I think they have got it the wrong way around, it should be 3 wildcards and more quali places
  16. Tell that to Darcy Ward you sick man! I wonder how many of the nominated wildcards over the years have gone on to win the world title... Or even rostrum? Most of the picks are done for financial reasons Havvy not the best in 92? You're joking right?
  17. That's true... Craig Cook has implied he's a cheat recently on Twitter, he obviously doesn't believe people deserve a 2nd chance... But was still hoping for a wildcard himself
  18. I get what you say about the closed shop, maybe it's time to cut the quali roll over to 5 places? But surely you can't say that last night wasn't dramatic
  19. Even today's GP closed shop is better than the old inter & continental final qualifiers where token quali spots were given to Eastern block countries effectively making the one off world final a 10 (ish) horse race
  20. But Crumpy did it in the GP era, where you can't get lucky
