  1. Six man teams 5 rides each has to be the way forward as stated the majority of meetings are run with this format. If a rider gets injured the rider above or below can take his rides, if it's the lowest averaged rider injured the rider above or a nominated number 7
  2. Good meeting this and some good individual performances and battles, little luke rode the best he's ever done at Berwick and the races between Archie and Elliot were good to watch some bright prospects on show
  3. My question for the future would be how would people feel if all meetings were double headers next season. Rob said he needed 500 to break even and would say there was about 600 to 650 there . Bar was fairly busy as was the cafe. Maybe start mid April at 4pm on a Sunday afternoon still he finished by 7.30 meetings every 2 weeks and always run bank holiday Monday. Wouldn't be to difficult to arrange the teams who fetch a lot of away supporters i.e. (Sheffield,Peterborough,Redcar) with the teams who don't fetch as many examples Edinburgh Workington .
  4. Personally think the cost ain't massive for a youngster starting second hand rolling chassis and a brand new 125 engine for less than £1000 then the safety gear normally less than £300 and away you go . A main problem is track time and the cost of it dependent on where you live a day at the track can be £100 with all the costs added up. Kids need to be riding once a week so £400 a month starts to add up to an expensive sport. Most parents understand this and make huge sacrifices to let the kids follow there dreams . maybe the powers that be could cover the cost of track hire and have kids only days a couple of days a month at various locations
  5. Massive away win now robs announced we will run next year this lot will up there game so we can keep the same seven next year
  6. One league 6 man teams every rider has 5 rides , if a rider is injured during the meeting the rider directly above or anyone below in averages can take his rides only one extra though, no long term rr or guests injured riders to be replaced in 10 days. No black and white rides.

  11. Not alarming as it may look some kids stay 125 and don't go 250 some have an extra year on the 250s before going 500 it's mainly due to the age spread and like you say national league beckons as well for the 15 year old. 33 riders is a good number and seems to be increasing year on year
  12. Are berge and Vissing available if so let's get them even if it means another change as well
  13. Redcar Carl basford, Gavin parr , Alex Goldsbourgh, Elliot Kelly Berwick josh embleton, Kieran Douglas, Luke Harrison Sam McGurk
  14. At this moment I do believe that the youth scene is moving in the right direction year on year more riders taking part and moving through the groups. I'm sure tai could help in someways but let's not think he is the messiah of the youth movement as it is already in good hands
  15. Was enjoying this thread until this delusional post
  16. Mixed feelings on this scunny through and through but the boys a raider and proud of it so I'm off for a draw
  17. The latest fixture in the NJL calendar took place at Berwick where the Border Raiders beat the Ashfield Giants 23-13 The meeting opened with an easy 5-1 to the home pair of Kev Whelan and Kieran Douglas over Mark Mcilkenny and Dale Lamb. Ht 2 brought a 3-3. Sam McGurk won the heat followed home by tge Giants pairing of Corban Pavitt and Jack Wright . Raiders youngster Luke Harrison had the misfortune of an engine failure just as the tapes rose. Ht 3 saw the Giants pair more competitive from the gate but it didn't take long for the Raiders to get in front to take yet another 5-1. Ht 4 was the race of the night. Giants Pavitt swooped across from gate 4 as the tapes rose to take a lead which he kept to the finish. However what went on behind him was a tremendous tussle between the other 3. Wright was holding 2nd place but was under real pressure from the Raiders pairing. Harrison was trying the outside with McGurk on the inside. The Giant was still 2nd as the three of them came out the last turn but with Harrison looking to go round him, Wright moved out just that bit further to block that challenge which allowed the 4th placed McGurk to charge up the inside to nick 2nd on the line. A Giants 4-2 but a fantastic race and just a pity the video company don't film these races. Ht 5 saw another determined effort by the Giants pairing with Dale Lamb in particular looking like he was getting to grips with the place. Whelan was well clear so the battle was for second between Lamb and Douglas. Lamb held on to that spot before a determined Douglas found a way past to secure another 5-1 and paid maximums for both the home 500 riders. Ht 6 saw Pavitt make another fast start with McGurk behind him. We were back to another entertaining battle between Wright and Harrison for third spot. It was nip and tuck between the two again but this time Harrison wasn't to be denied and found his way through to take third behind his partner. Raiders 23 Kev Whelan 8+1 Kieran Douglas 7+2 Luke Harrison 1+1 Sam McGurk 7 Giants 13 Mark McIlkenny 1 Dale Lamb 2 Corban Pavitt 8 Jack Wright 2+1
